Issues in the CBS and Housing Authority subforums in Feedback & Suggestions ·
So, what’s actually the difference between you—whoever makes every single post an argument about Italian design—and everyone else? And let's be real... out of your hundred-plus posts on the Housing Authority, six were deleted and you even grabbed a warning. On that one thread where they're constantly riding you and won't let you talk about Italian style, two of your posts were wiped, but the rest stayed up. So, no—it isn't true that they're blocking you from posting on the Housing Authority just because you like something different than what the mods prefer.

It's the same deal as that CBS thread. It didn't get nuked because the mods hated the synchronization—especially since 93% of people in the poll were against it—but because the trolling and off-topic spam kept going even after we warned them, deleted posts, and handed out warnings.

Seriously, from what I can see, you only got one strike on the Housing Authority. Just one (out of those four separate PDF pages). So it’s definitely not true that they're flagging your posts just because you're out here defending the Italian way of life or whatever.

Look, I never said you were the only one to blame. Other people were trading blows too, and they got hit with cards and had their off-topic posts wiped just like everyone else.

@"Problem" CBS

First off—it wasn't just one moderator handing out cards; there were two of them, and everyone was totally down for the trolling.

Second—we gave a warning that the thread would be locked if the bickering didn't stop. You guys didn't listen, so the topic got closed and eventually moved to the Archives.

In the future, if something's bothering you, just report it right away instead of waiting three months.
Pornography" in a PDF movie? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Christian Taylor3 said:I honestly don't think you even grasp the most basic definition of pornography; you could just check Wikipedia for once: Pornography is the explicit depiction of sexual intercourse. The original meaning of the word is "to illustrate lewdness." Claiming that the first photo was pornographic is an insult to every woman and female user on this Forum, if nothing else. Besides, I've already apologized for both shots.

Regarding the first one, you didn't even issue a warning; you just nuked it right in the chat, and as for the second, the warning you gave had about as much relevance as my interest in moon rock research. I acted based on how the established rules were being interpreted at the time, and I wasn't wrong—which has been politely explained to you several times now. This whole thing is just making a massive scene because the moderator(s) were actually doing their jobs.

Once again, why on earth would the Movie chat be any different from the Soccer one? All the examples and photos are right there in the intro post. There are NO double standards here, and there won't be, unless we're talking about LjES. Those are the final words from the highest authority here, Anderlon. As long as these supposed double standards exist, you've just been reacting to rules that (yet) DON'T exist. And whose fault is that in the end? It certainly isn't mine.

Unless you confirm those claims that the moderators of the Movie section are restricting communication between users (which is a pretty heavy accusation), this entire debate is pointless because we're just spinning our wheels.

I will decisively confirm them using my own example, complete with links and everything, so feel free to go read the thread's opening post.

Some parts of this discussion are definitely nonsense, and we really are starting to repeat ourselves, but the topic itself isn't mindless—the administration hasn't even weighed in yet.

Look, they can be different. Basically, the chat just depends on how much the moderator of a specific sub-forum wants to deal with it. Some boards have it, some don't. Those that do follow their own local rules and whatever the moderator decides. That’s why something you say in the Soccer chat might fly, but in the Movie section, you’ll get flagged. Or vice versa.

All the examples and photos are right there in the intro post. There’s NO double standard here, and there won't be—unless you count LjES. They are the highest authority here at Anderlon. As long as those double standards exist, you were just following the rules that (don't) exist yet. So whose fault is it? Definitely not mine.

It’s the same way we could have pointed back to the "highest authority" label:

Our policy is pretty much identical to Google’s or any other mainstream site when it comes to blocking explicit content. It's nothing personal. We aren't targeting anyone; it's just crossing a line, going against the rules, and there are consequences for that.

and:

If you ask me, your ban isn't nearly as bad as having an ad pulled for similar reasons, which has happened plenty of times and is super awkward. These are the rules of the game. Take it or leave it.

The real issue here is that the definition of adult content isn't clearly laid out in the rules, so it's basically left up to the "discretion" of the moderators. It's just like the chat—it falls into that gray area where it's up to the individual mod of that thread to decide what stays and what goes. Add in all the confusion regarding links and warnings, and you've got a mess that isn't the fault of the users or us moderators. It's just a "gray zone" on the Forum.hr where both sides were technically right.
I really hope this gets cleared up so we don't have these misunderstandings anymore.

Can you be more specific?

Or are you just bored?
Quick question in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, it sounds kind of sketchy that you got banned just for opening a thread the wrong way. 🤷

Since you already admitted you're a clone of someone who was permanently banned, why not just drop the old username? Let's see if that person actually deserved the ban or not.
Amy Rivera66 said:Even when you report an offensive post, the mods just play dumb and ignore it on purpose. There’s clearly a double standard happening here. We need some new moderators.

Are you talking about the site in general, or specific Adobe files and certain mods? Because if this is a general complaint, I can give you dozens of examples where my fellow sub-mods and I actually did our jobs and handed out warnings or bans for reported posts.🤷
What's the logic behind handing out partial bans? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
First off, you got a four-page breakdown from The Joker in a DM. But look, keeping it brief—you’ve been warned constantly, you've been handed yellow cards, and there’s an open thread about how you act on the Democratic Party boards. Despite all those promises that you'd stop, you kept nothing but posting copy-pastes. You had choices: either face a permanent ban from collecting enough strikes, or take a partial one. On the main forum, you got the partial.

vividtiger922 said:So, that's pretty much the gist of it. For what we're doing here—running a general interest forum—it just makes more sense to split things up by literary vs. non-literary topics. I even think grouping them by era, like classic versus contemporary, works better than just splitting everything into American and foreign works.

...that's my point 🤷 We have the main Literature PDF (doesn't matter what it's called). That file covers all the lit stuff—theoretical debates, reader engagement, you name it. Now, here's the "issue" with how we categorize it. To me, dividing it by domestic versus international literature feels way more intuitive than sorting it by old versus new. If we go the "classic literature" route, that specific section ends up becoming too niche—just look at the current balance between the "classics" and "contemporary" sections on the Literature board right now. Again, this isn't some hyper-specialized academic forum. The goal isn't to be overly technical; it's about making sure the whole thing is easy to navigate.

vividtiger922 said:So where do the general and comparative topics go then?

..they stay on the main literature pdf. Take Television as an example. You've got the main pdf for general TV topics + Series, Unseen, Soap Operas, and Reality TV.

..this looks like a solid split:

American Literature (prose, poetry)
Foreign Literature (prose, poetry)
Book Club.
Literary Corner.

+ plus the main Literature pdf...

I don't know, like the topic of Historical Novels. Would that go on the main subforum, and then if someone wants to talk about Sunday Factory, would that move over to American Literature? What if people burn through all the interest on the main topic first, and then by the time we get to the specific stuff, nobody cares anymore?

...if someone brings up or discusses Factory within a broader context in the general topics—that's fine. The specialized pdf is specifically for deep dives into Factory and his actual works.

vividtiger922 said:Look, I guess I'm just worried about "ghettoizing" American Literature if we separate it out. That's really what it comes down to. Aside from the fact that—as someone in this field professionally—I'd love to see it happen, I'm just trying to look at this through the eyes of an average reader. An average person interested in books, not someone with a PhD, let's be real.

The term "American Literature" is something a lot of people tend to dodge in general conversations. I get the impression people find it easier to swallow when it's just lumped under the broad umbrella of "Literature." Once you pull it out, the first thing people think of is mandatory school reading and English class, right? Sadly. And then it's even easier to just ignore.

It would make more sense to me to split things up by literary history, theory, or maybe older versus contemporary works...

..look, this isn't some hyper-specialized "literary" Forum. It should be obvious that we can't keep splitting everything into tiny little niches. And don't take this personally, but the Literature section isn't exactly a high-traffic literature pdf. I'm saying any kind of division is fine, but keep in mind that most people come to the Literature section to talk about new book releases and share their thoughts, not to debate literary theory or linguistics. Honestly, the thread views pretty much prove my point...

rapidnomad7 said:You could apply that logic to pretty much anything. Like, who else actually cares about the formula? I'm pretty sure way more people are interested in American literature than some group of helmet-wearing maniacs circling an asphalt track. What is there even to see or talk about? A topic like that interests maybe ten people on Earth, yet there's a whole sub-forum for it under sports. A whole damn sub-forum.

..literature pdf that has more posts than the Literature section, I should point out. That means interest in it definitely exists. But that’s not the point here. The point is whether they'll actually reorganize the Literature pdf. The idea is being considered, and we'll find out what the response is in a few days. Until then—feel free to throw out some ideas...

Thanks...

..honestly, the whole idea for a literature pdf focused on American Literature isn't half bad. The Linguistics Department already has its own pdf, and if you ask me, there's really no point in splitting it away from its main pdf... though, then again, Literature and Linguistics are basically "brother" pdfs anyway.
How to quote on the forum without earning points? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Just a heads-up: I’m done with nothing but copy-pasted text on this forum. Enough said.

If you're going to drop a copy-paste, throw in some actual commentary to get a conversation going—and no, just saying "reposting from The Morning" doesn't count.

Look, if sharing news articles is the highlight of your day, at least add your own take instead of just being a walking mouthpiece. Why act like a talking head? Even watching cable news, you can tell nobody actually likes those anchors...

P.S

I'm talking specifically about this forum. If people on other boards have different rules, go talk to them.

Hopefully they bring in someone decent this year... The Prodigy at the VIP set was absolutely legendary, and I wouldn't mind seeing them back again! 😍

...so I honestly feel like the 2009 T-Mobile Coachella with FF, Moby, Kraftwerk, Editors, Tricky, and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs... had the most insane lineup ever...
...just saw they confirmed New Order as the first headliners for Lollapalooza...😢...I really hope they don't end up turning into a demo version of a Music festival if they can't land some bigger sponsors...😁
