I’m not entirely sure what the point of this competition is, especially with the Olympics just a month away, but I do know it won't carry nearly as much weight as Beijing. The actual score doesn't matter all that much; the real goal here is just to get everyone in the right headspace.
Guys, I’m assuming it’s pretty obvious to everyone here that the odds of the Golden State Warriors getting knocked out right after the group stage are still incredibly low? 😉
Honestly, I’m not even surprised. This isn't exactly news; we've seen things get much worse than this before. And really, you can blame the fans who just wander in without paying a dime—including some of your own friends and acquaintances, probably. They figure, "So what if one or two people sneak in for free?" 🙄
Nancy Vaughn70 said:First off, I’m not talking about being small. Second, if any of you actually knew anything about handball, you wouldn't be talking like this... honestly, come down to Madison Square Garden for the 10.2 game and maybe you'll change your minds. And yeah, look at the greats—Michael Jordan is the perfect example. Who else among those legendary athletes plays through it like that? They're out there skiing on half a broken leg (not counting someone like Janica Kupren), barely able to walk or even stand up after a game. But does anyone doubt he's the best? He's the GOAT in his sport, and one of the greatest athletes alive today, period, regardless of the sport.
No, you're just being huge. Go ahead, keep talking. 🙄
Nancy Vaughn70 said:Man, are you actually serious right now? You really think it’s up for debate if he’s the best? Do you need a new pair of glasses or something? Regardless of what sport we're talking about, the guy is the GOAT—he could be playing cricket and it wouldn't change a thing. You’ve got to be the only person out there claiming he isn't the greatest. Seriously, just go watch a game, see how he plays, and then tell me he isn't the best.
Chris Lopez59 said:Alilović managed to snag some massive steals against the French squad—which, honestly, was probably just as vital as Somić’s clinical performance from the seven-meter line—but if we're being totally real here, he was absolutely nowhere to be found when we were facing the Danes...
It wasn't just the duo in the net having an off night. Nikola Balic and Lackovic struggled too, and we really missed the spark from Valcic and the rest of our playmakers. Still, we were right there at 22-21, staring down those intense final three minutes. Tactically, the team was dialed in for that crunch time near the end, but the Danes just played out of their minds. It’s not always about how we play; sometimes the other side is just better.
Adam Howard25 said:The Danish fans went absolutely wild over Ivano Balić. A Danish woman was practically throwing herself at him yesterday, and those fans were chanting his name through the whole game. The guy is an absolute icon to them.
Unbelievable.
It wasn't the entire match—just toward the end—but it was loud. Even in the local bars, people were telling us how much of a legend Ivano Balić is. Those Danes 👍
Man, I’m in serious trouble if I end up snagging tickets for the World Cup. It would basically wipe out everything I’ve managed to save over the last year. I’m stuck in this massive dilemma: do I go for that new car or the World Cup? God, if I pick the tournament... but I know I want to. 🤣
Hands down one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. I’ll upload a few photos once I get back to my laptop. Huge congrats to Denmark—they earned that top spot, seriously impressive!
coastalseal87 said:I’d probably be out there cheering too, but mostly because Lino Cervar is such a clown. People chant his name just to mess with him, kind of like they do with Ciro.
Look, Lino Cervar is basically a legend, much like Ciro. They’re the ones behind our biggest wins. People kept saying, "The Frenchmen are going to outsmart us tactically," but it feels like they pointed the gun in the wrong direction this time. Tomorrow, we go hard against Dance, and then we'll celebrate in Times Square.
The energy in the stands was incredible. I think I lost my voice most when everyone started chanting "Lino Cervar" and shouting at the sports news reporters. Honestly, you all deserve nothing but a kick in the teeth, you absolute hacks. You didn't earn this result, and you certainly don't deserve this national team.
Charles Martin2 said:I won't get into where I heard this just yet, but the tip is spot on— We’re going to beat the French!!! If that means anything to you guys...
Is that actually certain? He'd probably give his buddies a heads-up to bet a few bucks.
Asking things like that is just a waste of breath.
It’s 2 AM. You try not to nod off behind the wheel. We're also banking on there being no snow or ice blocking the roads. If the news shows some guy passed out in the stands tomorrow, that'll be me.
cosmichawk53 always provides a decent perspective when you need to see the other side of the coin. Sure, his views can be pretty extreme (to put it mildly 🤣), but I can't deny he's well-informed, especially when it comes to tennis. It’s just the way he interprets and pitches that info sometimes that’s a whole different story. 🙂
electricdriver93 said:Oh, really? So you're claiming Balić isn't perfect? Groundbreaking stuff right there.
Look, sure, he's great... but let's be real—he didn't shoot 100% from the field, and he didn't drop 15 assists with zero turnovers and 6 steals. I mean, why even bother bragging?😲
Yeah, okay, Balić is just a human being. By pure coincidence, he happens to play handball. And by total accident, he’s been the best in the world. For years. Including yesterday.
That’s exactly my point. Everyone above me was acting like he won the game single-handedly. Like he's some flawless machine.
bluebison10 said:They’re reading too much into it. Of course, if you actually know how to read between the lines...
I was pulling Cs on my report cards back when we were learning about "reading between the lines" in school. The guy never explicitly said we were the favorites; he just said we're as strong as we are.
