If you've already swapped out the drive cable, then I guess the only thing left is that the motherboard might be the issue.

I tried swapping out the cable too, but still nothing... :/ I'm honestly at a loss for what else to try. Might have to look into getting a different motherboard since I don't have any spares on hand... thanks for all the help 🙂

I finally got it sorted out. When I booted the PC into Safe Mode, the loading process just hung on an AVG file. I managed to get the computer running long enough to delete the AVG folder, and now everything is working perfectly. It doesn't make much sense to me why that happened, but it is what it is. As long as it works... Thanks again 😁

Glad you got it sorted out, though I'm still a bit confused about why that second fresh Windows installation ended up getting blocked.

I have a nagging feeling my motherboard might be on its last legs, but I'm really hoping everything stays stable for now...🙂

I was also just wondering what your thoughts are on the ASUS P45 motherboard...

I honestly feel like it would be much better to start a brand new thread rather than cluttering up this one with off-topic posts.

By the way, I noticed the Windows 7 - page 404 error appearing right in the header 😁

Is there any way to actually reuse a Windows 7 OEM Key? I've got an HP laptop where the hard drive just gave up on me—the recovery partition is completely shot

Hey, so like everyone else posting about this, I'm having a nightmare with Windows on my HP 8730. It keeps lagging out, so I tried to just wipe it and start over, but I'm totally stuck. I can't even get into the bios F12 to change the boot order because it's asking me for a password 🤔

Hit F10 to enter the BIOS
F12 opens the boot menu

Good grief, man. You really should have just tried doing that yourself in the first place.

I mentioned over on page 402 that I managed to download Windows 7 from that site you guys suggested. Everything seemed fine at first, but now this "activate Windows" message keeps popping up. How do I get rid of that nuisance or actually get it activated? My screen is back to being black again...

I find myself wondering how one might actually go about saving their settings from Google Chrome. It seems to me that I am presented with nothing but an "import settings" option, yet any mention of an export feature appears to be entirely absent from the interface. I suppose there might be a way, though I haven't stumbled upon it yet.

If anyone has a decent link, could you just shoot me a PM? I can't seem to find it anywhere... no idea why.🤦
