Rachel Bishop26 said:I've got a question for you guys. A few months back, I picked up a laptop without an OS, and then my friend's dad took it over to this local computer shop—not gonna name names here—and they hooked me up by installing the whole Windows 7 Professional suite along with everything else like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and all that junk for free. But then, two days ago, this message pops up out of nowhere followed by a black screen saying "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of windows is not genuine"🙂
So, what am I supposed to do now? The biggest headache is that I honestly don't even know if it was legitimate to begin with, because you know how those big government agencies get huge bulk licenses and sometimes people just... install them for others like this, and besides, things are pretty awkward with that friend right now so I can't really ask her about it😢
Is there any way to fix this, or am I just stuck waiting for the 29-day grace period to run out?

Just go find some Windows 7 genuine crack on a torrent site, download it, install that, and you won't have a single problem... just disable Windows Update entirely or set it so it only searches for updates and you manually deal with them later when you feel like it. That's basically it... 🙂

swiftdriver30 said:Hey everyone, I have a quick question. So, a few days ago I decided to upgrade my rig with a beefier graphics card. Naturally, my Windows Experience Index score for the GPU shot up, which was great. However, I also swapped in a new 1 TB HDD Samsung, but the drive score itself hasn't budged. My total system score is sitting at a 5.9 because of the hard drive, and I’m just not seeing the jump I expected. I was running a 320 GB Hitachi before and it gave me a 5.9 too, but this new one is supposed to be faster and it's much larger, so I'm a bit lost. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe there's some setting I need to tweak regarding the drive or something... heh. Thanks.

It's pretty obvious that the new drive is performing exactly like the old one did.
Is the motherboard actually keeping up? I wouldn't know. Is it even a SATA 3 drive?
My SATA 2 drive pulls a 5.9 index myself.

It’s pretty simple—mechanical drives just can't keep up, so you aren't going to see a higher score. Honestly, I'm stuck at a 5.9 myself because of my HDD, even though it would easily hit a 7.7 or 7.8 otherwise. If that score is bugging you, just grab an SSD—you'll see that drive rating jump to a 7.9 right away.

I honestly have no clue which SATA version I'm running, pretty sure it's just 2 but I can't be certain :S

Larry Ortiz5 said:It’s just basic physics, man... a mechanical drive is inherently slower, so you're never gonna see those top-tier scores. Honestly, my own score is stuck at a 5.9 purely because of the HDD, otherwise I'd be looking at a solid 7.7 or 7.8. If the numbers are driving you crazy, just grab an SSD and you'll see that disk rating jump straight to 7.9.

ugh, what am I even supposed to do with an SSD? I know they're faster, but they cost way too much money right now... heh, let the numbers sting a little, I guess... heheh

And that’s exactly why the rating is what it is.
Every single 2.5-inch drive is going to show pretty much the same transfer speeds.
Plus, you're looking at an index of 5.9.

So, my WD Blue drive is sitting at a 5.9 rating too, but honestly? I couldn't care less...

Because you're seeing pretty much the same transfer speeds on both drives every single hour...
And there's that 5.9 index score too...

It just shows up as a Samsung HD103SI ATA Device—that's what the system calls my hard drive...🙂

I suppose I have a minor predicament regarding my email settings.
Essentially, there are times when I encounter a link on various websites intended to trigger an email composition window. The issue arises because, upon clicking, my system automatically launches Microsoft Outlook, which hasn't even been configured yet. I was wondering if anyone might know where I could go to adjust my settings so that something like Gmail or Hotmail opens instead? I am currently running Windows 7.
I hope my inquiry makes sense.

Well, just set up a Gmail account within Outlook. Right now, it’s acting as your default client.
Alternatively, you could install a different mail client... though I'd bet anything you don't have anything else installed besides Outlook...

So, I finally sorted out that annoying system freezing issue I was dealing with... I just wanted to jump on here and let everyone know that the mystery is officially solved.
Basically, I was running an ASUS Z77 Extreme paired with an Intel Core i5-3570K on Windows 7 64-bit, and the whole thing kept locking up on me, especially after leaving it sitting idle for a while—things like overnight rendering jobs, sorting through database files, or just letting a torrent run through the night.

It turns out the culprit was actually something incredibly simple... I had accidentally swapped the RESET switch and the HDD Sw connections on the system panel header, basically plugging them into the wrong slots.

Just thought I’d share in case anyone else runs into something similar... 🤣

How can I move my contacts and old emails over to Windows Live Mail from my provider's webmail? Sending and receiving is working fine... Is there some kind of sync option available? Or would it be easier to just export everything through Outlook if I have to set that up too...

Is there an option for that? Or would I have to set up Outlook just to import them from there? I'm hoping there's a simpler way...

To clarify a bit more

My boss wants us to have identical inbox messages, sent items, and contacts across two different computers using Windows Live Mail. Since he's using an AT&T account via POP3, it makes things pretty difficult... Would switching to a Windows Live ID help fix this? Like, would the emails actually sync between two different PCs then...

Well, I miswired mine too, and I ended up telling the repair shop that I might have fried the motherboard... The computer would power on, but there was absolutely no signal on the monitor. We even tried swapping out the graphics card, but no luck there either. Now I'm sitting here wondering—is it actually possible to short out a board just by messing up those specific pins?

That's really not possible, because those two things are directly linked...

People are saying I swapped the LEDs with the power switch or something, but honestly, the lighting was pretty bad while I was working... But are you seriously telling me a board can't short out like that? I was putting the build together out on the patio (it wasn't even humid out), and when I pulled the motherboard out of the old case, I grabbed it from underneath. Now I'm wondering if I might have scraped it or messed something up, though I really tried to be careful...

My boss wants two different computers to have identical mail setups—same inbox, same sent folder, same contacts, the whole nine yards. Since he's using an AT&T email account via POP3, it’s making my life a total nightmare. Can this be fixed by using a Windows Live ID? Basically, if I switch to a Windows Live ID, will all those emails actually sync up between two separate PCs?

Look, Windows Live Mail is a pretty primitive email client—honestly, it’s incredibly dim-witted when it comes to networking stuff. Why on earth aren't you just using Outlook since you already have it? It would be so much easier to just grab a tool like this one to sync everything across both machines perfectly. http://www.itsth.de/en/produkte/e2s4o.php

Why? Because my boss is 56 and completely tech-illiterate. He only knows how to use Windows Live Mail, and he flat-out refuses to touch Outlook because he thinks it's just too complicated... Thanks anyway!

So, I'm thinking about installing Windows 7 Ultimate on this PC, but I'm honestly not sure if everything is going to run smoothly without any lagging or stuttering issues.
The specs are:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 @ 1.80 GHz
1.00 GB DDR2 800 MHz
ATI Radeon HD 4350 512 MB

I guess I'm just a little uncertain whether this setup will handle everything perfectly, so I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on this...
Thanks in advance 🙂

It should run just fine. On my old desktop, I was rocking a Celeron 430 at 1.80 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and a 256 MB graphics card, and honestly, everything worked pretty smoothly back then.😁
