Dana Murphy4 said:So, I'm thinking about installing Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC, but I'm a little worried about whether it's going to run smoothly without any lagging or stuttering issues.
My current setup is:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 @ 1.80 GHz
1.00 GB DDR2 800 MHz
ATI Radeon HD 4350 512 MB

I'm just not quite sure if everything will work flawlessly on this hardware, so I'd really love to get your honest thoughts on this...
Thanks in advance! 🙂

It should run just fine, though you'll want to be careful not to clutter it up with too many programs, since you won't be able to keep a bunch of different apps open at the same time given the memory.

I was wondering if increasing the Virtual Memory might help at all? Maybe that could improve the performance just a little bit.🤷

Forget about virtual memory—that’s just a band-aid—you need actual, physical sticks of RAM. Just add more.

Running on just 1GB of RAM? In my opinion, that’s a total disaster. Everything just stutters and crawls constantly.

Tapapapatallk

It isn't stuttering... honestly, there's actually enough free RAM to get things done.
The real bottleneck is how much power you have under the hood with your processor.

I’m seriously worried about how much free RAM is going to be left over once you factor in the OS, the browser, and maybe even running Winamp. Just let the guy buy more memory already—it’s not 2003 anymore. 🙂

Taylor Morales31 said:I’m genuinely concerned that we're going to end up with an absurd amount of idle RAM just sitting there, doing absolutely nothing while the OS, a browser, and maybe Winamp struggle to breathe. Honestly, let the man buy some memory; it isn't 2003 anymore. 🙂

Look, I wasn't exactly suggesting that anyone should avoid buying RAM altogether. I’m currently sitting here with 4GB myself and, frankly, I'm not exactly thrilled with the performance. But my point is that you can absolutely get by on the internet with just 1GB; as long as you aren't trying to run heavy software, the lack of memory isn't going to make the computer crawl. :)

Fair point... honestly, he should just go ahead and pull the trigger on it. It's about time, really. haha

4GB is really the sweet spot when you consider value versus performance for running Windows 7.
2GB? You're barely scraping by.
And 1GB is just laughably insufficient. Even if all you want to do is browse the web.

Oh, please. Of course smartphones have 2GB of RAM these days... sure, that's plenty if you just want to browse the web, but if you actually want to run something substantial? You're basically screwed with those specs. 😉

2GB feels like you're just barely scraping by.
And 1GB? That’s just not enough. Even for basic web browsing, it's a struggle.

I don't know, I used to have an old rig with just 2GB of RAM and a 1.80GHz processor, and it actually worked pretty great. I could pull up a song on YouTube and check Facebook without any major lag. I even had Call of Duty 4 installed back then; I could run that on medium settings while listening to music on WMP at the same time.

It would be pretty ridiculous to claim Facebook or YouTube are lagging on 2GB of RAM. If you're seeing stutters, first off, check your flash drive—that’s likely the culprit. And honestly, I haven't even tested this myself because, man, I don't get people who try to run Windows Media Player in the background while gaming. Like, seriously? If you're playing a game, just play the game... 🤷

If things are stuttering, the issue is probably the flash drive first and foremost. Besides, I have to admit I haven't actually tested this specific setup yet. I usually have music playing in WMP while I'm gaming, which—man, I don't even know why I do that? If you're playing a game, just focus on the game... 🤷

I know it won't, I'm just saying ☕. And about the music, I only really do that sometimes when I'm playing CoD

Hey everyone! So, I just picked up this Samsung laptop
AMD processor type
E-series
E2-1800 1.70 GHz
4 GB RAM
320 GB HDD
AMD graphics 🤷 Radeon HD 7340. I went ahead and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, but here's the catch: everything is incredibly sluggish. I tried running some games, jumped on YouTube, and the whole thing just stutters and crawls. It’s painfully slow... I honestly can't tell if the issue is with my Windows installation—maybe I should try the 64-bit version instead?—or if this laptop is just a total dud and I should return it. I'm seriously losing my mind here... 🙂🙂

If you're running 4GB of RAM on a 64-bit system, then sure,

But look, since we're talking about integrated graphics here, the GPU is going to cannibalize your system memory because it doesn't have its own dedicated VRAM. You aren't going to be doing much heavy lifting with that setup...

Basically, you get what you can get. You won't be playing on the settings you actually want; you'll be stuck playing on whatever the hardware can barely manage... maybe try hunting down a different driver,

And if you're having trouble with video playback, check your Flash player version. If you have a newer one, try rolling back to an older version, or vice versa... 😉

But since you're dealing with integrated graphics, remember that it’ll be pulling from your system memory instead of having its own dedicated VRAM, so don't expect to push anything too heavy....

Basically, you won't always get to play exactly what you want on the settings you want; you'll be limited to whatever the hardware can actually handle... maybe try hunting down a different driver,

And regarding video playback issues, check your Flash settings... If you're running a newer version, try rolling back to an older one, or vice versa... 😉
It's not even about gaming for me, I'm just saying it for the sake of comparison... so, if I were to switch over to 64-bit 🙂 my driver is currently the latest version, I think it just automatically downloads and updates whenever there's a new release... I'll give the video thing a shot right now, and thanks so much for the reply! 😁

Jack Brown7 said:Hey everyone! So, here’s the deal—I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a new Samsung laptop. It’s running an AMD processor...
Processor type — E-series
The CPU here is an E-series E2-1800 clocked at 1.70 GHz—basically just a little workhorse trying its best.
4 GB of RAM
Hard drive (HDD) — 320 GB
Graphics — AMD
So, I've got this Radeon HD 7340 running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit—which was supposed to be fine, right?—but everything is just painfully slow. It’s lagging like crazy. I try to launch a game and it stutters, I head over to YouTube and it’s basically a slideshow... it just crawls. Honestly, I can't tell if it's some weird Windows glitch or if the system is just struggling, so now I'm wondering if I should just scrap this and wipe it all for the 64-bit version. Any ideas? Honestly, this laptop is a total joke. So, should I just take it back? Honestly, I’m about two seconds away from losing my mind here—just staring at the wall, questioning everything. 🤷🙂🙂

I mean, look—it’s bolded, so I don't know... why on earth did you actually pick that specific one? You aren't exactly going to find much happiness there, if you ask me. Seriously. Just head over to the Samsung website first and download all the drivers—you'll need them.

Well, I already got this CD with the drivers on it and everything is installed... I really just need this laptop for browsing the web and some basic Office stuff, so I don't think I made such a huge mistake by picking it up.

I’m currently running a legitimate, fully licensed version of Windows on my PC, but I’m planning on picking up a brand-new machine soon.

Is it possible to transfer my existing Windows license over to the new computer? If so, what’s the best way to go about it?

Thanks.

Not gonna happen. It’s one computer, one license. Period.

Just to clarify: I don't plan on using the old one anymore.

So, what's the verdict? 🤷
