Justin Moore10 said:How do I stop it from auto-capitalizing the start of every sentence?

Just highlight the whole thing right when you start. Like, grab a paragraph and just switch it to lowercase using the font settings in Word.
Anything you type after that should stay lowercase at the start of the paragraph.

If anyone can help, please do!!!

Look, you have to design the tables yourself based on which specific entities you want to track and the attributes belonging to them. There isn't a magic answer to that—nobody else can tell you how your business operates.

Hey

Could someone please walk me through how to add a title to a picture in Word?
I know about the "Insert Caption" feature, but the captions end up being way too big—plus, they keep bumping my images around, which is driving me crazy... I really don't want that happening.

I remember in an older version of Word there was some kind of trick with text boxes or frames where you could just type directly, but I can't seem to find it anywhere now.

thanks 😉

If you're looking for a tutorial to actually learn the ropes, maybe check this out? Might help.

I’ve scanned some text from a physical document and I'm looking to clean it up. I tried using OpenOffice, but it’s just not giving me the results I was hoping for. I need to be able to cut out certain sections, swap in new text, and maybe scale down an image... I'm wondering which program would be the best tool for the job.
thanks

That’ll definitely help, thanks! But for my senior thesis, I really need to dig up as many VBA code examples as possible. I have to put together a full list of objects and methods along with their definitions. The problem is, I don't understand a single thing about it yet. Where can I actually find these kinds of program examples?

thanks :mig:

Maybe this will help you out (works for both Word 2003 and 2007): Wherever you want that title to sit, just go ahead and insert a Text Box
(go to Insert, then Text Box) and type your heading right there. Once it's typed, move it where you want it, then right-click it and change the border lines to white so they disappear into the background.

Now, I might come off as a know-it-all here, but let's look at the reality of the situation! When you scan a document, you’re essentially capturing a grid—rows and columns forming a matrix—where every pixel holds a specific value. If you try to strip away a section of that matrix or overlay it with another one, those overlapping parts just vanish. Once you make those changes, there's no going back unless you hit Undo. Is there really a software out there that can magically fix this perfectly? Honestly, I don't think so. You're better off sticking to the classic method you mentioned: grab some paper, a ruler, and a pen. Work it out until it looks right, and then scan the final product.

I figured you’d checked out most of the tutorials when you said "yeah, that could help too."

You say "senior project." Look, if you want to write a decent final paper, you actually have to know what you're talking about—not even mentioning the subject matter itself. Basically, you gotta study.

If you're actually interested in explanations for specific parts of a Macro code, then one of the links in that tutorial covers it.

Also, do yourself a favor and check out the tutorial on Macros in Excel for extra breakdowns. Sit down and learn.

btw: that web tutorial's Excel section has more links featuring VBA macros that include plenty of comments explaining specific lines of code.

Hi there,

I'm currently putting together an Excel workbook to act as a tracking log.
Since the colleague responsible for the data entry isn't exactly known for her precision or reliability—and I desperately need one specific column to have perfectly consistent entries so I can filter everything easily once I import the data into another program—
I'm thinking about setting up a dropdown menu for each cell in that particular column. That way, she picks from a list instead of typing things in manually. All the other rows should just function normally, exactly as they do now.

Is this doable, and if so, what's the best way to go about it?

Thanks in advance,

That wasn't quite what I was hunting for, but it definitely helped me stumble upon what I actually needed.
What I was trying to do was set up some Data Validation (go to the Data Tab, hit the Data Validation button, and select the List option) for a single row, using a table located somewhere else within the same Workbook as the source.

Thanks for the hand!

Alright folks, I don't even know where to start because my head is absolutely pounding right now. In ten years of messing around with Word, nothing like this has ever happened to me.🙂
I was working on this graph that I had to draw manually, so I ended up using a Text Box to get everything positioned. Everything looked perfect last night, but when I went to hit print, some of the letters inside the Text Box just... vanished. They’re sitting right there on my screen, looking totally fine, but the printer acts like they don't exist. I tried moving the Text Box to a different page just to see if it was a layout glitch, but nope—same deal. It shows up on the monitor, but the paper comes out empty. What the hell happened? Someone please help me out here.
Here’s what I'm looking at:

So, the stuff I marked is definitely typed into the Text Box and looks fine on my screen, but it just refuses to print.🙂
