Don't see the issue here. Column headers and row numbers were just hidden along with the gridlines. Here’s the file back

Thanks a lot. I wouldn't call myself an Excel rookie, but this one was news to me. I owe you one 🙂

I’m hoping some experts here can lend me a hand with Excel.

I need to aggregate duplicate entries; specifically, I have a list in column A where certain values repeat, and column B contains a corresponding numerical value:

A1:X B1:1
A2:Y B2:5
A3:Z B3:2
A4:X B4:3
A5:Z B5:6

Ultimately, my goal is to generate a summary table that looks like this:
A1:X B1:sum of all X (1+3+...)
A2:Y B2:sum of all Y (5+...)
A3:Z B1:sum of all Z (2+6...)

To put it plainly, I am looking to identify duplicates within column A and then sum their associated values from column B. It sounds like a trivial task that should be straightforward, yet I find myself fruitlessly wrestling with it for quite some time now.🤷

Maybe this will clear things up for you:

Suppose you drop this formula into cell C1: =SUMIF(A1:A5,"X",B1:B5)
Then, if you put this one in C2: =SUMIF(A1:A5,"Y",B1:B5)
And finally, in C3, you write: =SUMIF(A1:A5,"Z",B1:B5)

Actually, look—you don't even have to be that tedious. You can just use formulas that target the entire columns A and B. So, in those examples I just gave,
instead of limiting yourself to A1:A5, you could just use A:A, and instead of B1:B5, you’d just plug in
B:B. That way, when you inevitably add more data later down the line in columns A and B, column C will automatically pick up and sum those corresponding values from column B without you having to go back and fix everything manually. It saves a massive headache.

Look, that assumes I already have the data points X, Y, and Z laid out in front of me enough to recognize them.

Take my current situation, for instance: I’m staring at a massive spreadsheet running from A1 down to A3600, and frankly, I haven't the slightest clue how many unique values—X, Y, Z, or whatever else is buried in there—actually exist, nor do I have any idea how many times each one decides to show up.

Take a look at this:

I'm positive this will do the trick.

Greetings,

http://www.corporate-planning.com/e/...t/analysis.php

I am looking for guidance on how to replicate this specific variance analysis chart. I want the values to reflect whether they are positive or negative, with the color shifting automatically based on that direction. Most importantly, I need this functionality contained directly within the cell itself rather than as a standalone floating chart. As you can see in the provided example,

First you gotta pull all those unique values into their own column, then just sum them up.
Check out this tutorial:

Hey everyone, I’m running into a bit of a headache here and could use some pointers. Does anyone know how to actually get a video to work in PowerPoint? Every time I go through the usual drill—clicking on Insert > video > video from File—and select my clip, I just hit a brick wall. A window pops up immediately with this error message: "PowerPoint cannot insert a video from selected file. Verify that the necessary 64-bit codec for this media format is installed, and then try again." It’s pretty frustrating. Is this a common glitch, or am I missing some specific software update? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you should try updating your Flash Player.

Or just Google "powerpoint video codecs" (make sure to use the quotes) and see what solutions come up.

I am looking for a way to create a variance analysis chart directly within a cell. Ideally, the values would shift between positive and negative, with the color changing automatically to reflect the direction. I want this integrated into the cell itself rather than being a separate floating chart, much like what is shown in the example link here.

Does anyone happen to know how to do this? 😢

So, I’m running Windows 7 Pro with Office 2010, and I’ve hit a total brick wall. I can’t get the American English spell check to set as my default. Every time I try to fix it, it sends me online to download the language proofing tool. I went ahead and did that—downloaded everything, ran the installer, and even got the message saying the installation was successful. But here's the kicker: it’s doing absolutely nothing. It won't correct any of my typos. When I dig into the settings in Microsoft Word under the language options, it just tells me that American English isn't even installed? What am I missing here? Where could I be going wrong?

I'd say it's Verdan

Personally, I’d say it looks like the Verdan font

It's not Verdana. To me, it looks more like those Commodore fonts that were all over the place back in the 80s.

I managed to find what I needed in the meantime. Much appreciated, Kyle. You're a lifesaver. 🙂

On a different note, I have a question regarding data visualization. How does one create charts like these within Excel? Which specific add-in or module would you recommend for this type of output:

Henry Lewis37 said:how do I make charts like this in Excel,

That example you posted? That was made in actual graphic design software. Check this out: example

Excel isn't really built for heavy-duty 3D charts. If you want to get fancy with some 3D stuff and play with colors, you’re gonna have to put in the work using the tools on the Design, Layout, and Format tabs that pop up in Excel 2007 once you click the chart.

If you're looking for those super high-end, custom "pro" 3D charts, you need specialized software for that.

Just Google "free program to create 3D graphic charts"

Can someone please point me toward a free program that actually converts a PDF to Word? Every single one I've downloaded so far cuts me off after five pages—it just won't handle the rest of the document... total waste of time. If anyone could take a second to drop a program name or a link, I’d really appreciate it. Much appreciated.
