Cvetko and Corn
When you're replying to the post above, there’s really no need to quote the whole thing. What's with three posts taking up half a page???
One guy has over 8,000 posts, while the other barely has ten. I mean, Cvetko might still have a chance, but Corn is a lost cause at this point.
And all of this is just on an "IT" PDF... if this is how they act here, can you imagine what the rest are like?

No, you're right about that.
I'll leave it to the moderators to clean it up; I don't have editing privileges anymore.
There's no need to be quite so malicious.🙂

Quick favor?
Got an Excel file with over 100 sheets and I'm trying to pull all the values from cell B6 across every single one of them into my first sheet. Just want one big sum at the top.
Anyone know the formula for this?
Thanks!

I’ve got an Excel file with over 100 sheets, and I want the very first sheet to show the sum of whatever value is sitting in cell B6 across all those other individual sheets.
Does anyone know the right formula for that?
Thanks in advance!

Over 100 sheets? Is that actually useful for anything? Just wondering. 🤷
What is this... some kind of massive government database or something? 😂

On the first sheet where you want that total of 99 other numbers to show up:
1. Just click AutoSum, and you'll see the =SUM() function pop up.
2. Next, head over to Sheet2, hold down the Shift key, and then click on the very last sheet, Sheet99.
(Why use "Shift"? It lets you select everything from the first one—Sheet2—all the way to the last one, Sheet99, in one go. That’s what we call grouping. If you used CTRL instead, you'd just be picking random sheets like Sheet3, 5, or 17.)
3. Go straight to cell B68 and hit Enter.
4. Your formula bar will look like this: =SUM(Sheet2:Sheet99!B68). Basically, it's giving you the sum of all those B68 values at once.

- Or, you could just type the formula in manually, but honestly, trying it with the Shift key is much better practice.
- There are plenty of other ways to do it, but I think this method is your best bet.

Just hit AutoSum. It’ll pop up =SUM() for you. Easy.
Next, hit Sheet2. Hold down Shift and click on that last one, Sheet99. Done.
Why even bother with "Shift"? Like I’m suddenly gonna select everything from Sheet2 all the way to Sheet99? That kind of grouping is useless. Using CTRL just skips over the stuff you don't want—like jumping from Sheet3 to 5 to 17. Makes zero sense.
Go to cell B68 and hit enter.
4. I'll be typing it right in the formula bar. Just a quick heads-up if you're trying to pull data from a massive range of tabs—this formula `=SUM(Sheet2:Sheet99!B68)` works in Excel to grab cell B68 from every single sheet between Sheet2 and Sheet99. It’s basically a shortcut so you don't have to click through a hundred different tabs manually. Just make sure those sheets actually exist or the whole thing breaks. Simple, but handy.Basically just the sum of all those B68 values.

Either just punch the formula in manually, but honestly? You’re better off messing around with that Shift key trick instead.
There’s other ways to do it, but this one’s your best bet.

Thanks a ton. 🙂

Hey,
I tried boiling this down, but I'm getting nowhere... I need to pull specific values from one sheet over to another, but there's a catch—I have to grab every fourth cell.
I honestly have no clue how to pull this off.
Basically, I need to move data from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2 by grabbing cells AA6, AA10, AA14, and so on—just skipping by fours. I really don't want to spend my life manually copying and pasting every single one, so how do I set up a formula to just do the heavy lifting for me?

Hey everyone!
I just signed up for a basic computer literacy course recently. So far, so good, but I’m on the fence about whether I should go for the advanced level once I wrap this one up. I'm not sure if small businesses actually care about that kind of extra expertise. It wouldn't hurt to have it, obviously, but my main goal is just to land a job where I can use BASIC programs right away... honestly, I'm still weighing it all up. Thanks!

Just head over to Sheet2, hit cell A1, and drop this formula in:
Code:
=Sheet1!AA6

Then, in the cell right below it (A2), use this one instead:
Code:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$AA$6;ROW(AB1)*4;0)

Drag that down as far as you need.
Boom. Now you’ve got every fourth cell from column AA on Sheet1 copied over, starting from the sixth row.

Does anyone else actually care about getting an ECDL? Speaking from experience, I knocked out the Start and Advance packages, but honestly? It didn't do squat for me. If you do decide to tackle the Advance stuff, maybe I can help you out with some Excel tasks for ECDL.
Maybe you'll have better luck 🙂

So, how do I grab the sums from cells I6, J6, and K6 on Sheet1 and move them over to Sheet2—but only every fourth value?

I tried applying the exact same formula—no luck. It's just not working.
So, here's the deal—I need to grab the sum from cells I6, J6, and K6 on Sheet1 and dump that total into cell E4 on Sheet2. Then, I need to repeat the process, but this time summing up every fourth cell starting from I10, J10, and K10 on Sheet1 and moving that result into E5 on Sheet2, and so on. Basically, I'm looking to automate this pattern.

Hey there!

I’ve hit a bit of a wall trying to get my heading numbering to behave. I managed to set up my Heading 1s to use a number followed by a period (like 1.), but now I'm stuck on the second level. I want my subheadings to show that trailing dot at the end too (so, 1.1., 1.2., 1.3., etc.). All I can find in the settings is how to do the standard 1.1 or 1.2 style, but it won't let me add that extra period after the second number🤷

Any chance someone could walk me through this?

Look, I know how to set up standard numbering, but here's my headache: I need my second-level headings to end with a period. So, instead of just 1.1, I actually need it to look like 1.1.. That’s the catch—I can't figure out how to automate that trailing dot. It's driving me crazy.
