Best protein powders for muscle gain?

Just bumping the protein discussion back to the top. I've got a few questions, and sorry if this has all been covered already, but there are honestly way too many pages here to dig through...
1. My tub of Optimum Nutrition protein just arrived today—a 2.2kg container for $138. This is actually my first time ever buying protein, and I felt completely lost looking at all these different brands, so this one seemed like the safest bet. Is the quality actually decent, or am I overpaying for something that's the same as the cheaper stuff, or maybe paying extra for something that's actually better or something like that?
2. I was fully expecting a scoop to be inside the tub, but since there isn't one, I'm stuck using spoons. Roughly how many tablespoons should I be using for a post-workout shake? Just a ballpark figure is fine.
Thanks for the help.

It’s all pretty much the same stuff, though I’ll always stick to the big names—you know, brands like Optimum Nutrition, Dymatize, Labrada, or Weider... but honestly, even that one should be fine. Once you're done with your workout, just toss in about two scoops of whey, maybe 30g, plus some 50g of dextrose (grape sugar)

I've been sticking with this one

It always comes with a measuring cup included, so there's absolutely no guesswork involved.

Hey everyone, I could use some advice... I just picked this up today... I've been drinking isolate until now, which has always been great, but what if things go downhill once I switch over to MVP? Is this actually just a concentrate based on how it tastes? Honestly, the flavor is just nauseating and way too sweet. 🙂🙂 Has anyone else tried this? This is my first time using whey from this brand and it's honestly terrible... Should I have gone with an isolate instead, since those usually taste more natural and aren't quite so sugary? Just looking for some honest feedback! xD
Please help me out! 🙂

I was browsing through some options online and stumbled upon this massive tub of Optimum Nutrition BCAA 3G. It’s a pretty substantial size at 2268g, which is great if you're serious about staying hydrated and recovering between sets... definitely worth a look if you want to keep those energy levels steady during intense sessions! I’ve been sticking to isolate so far, and honestly, everything has been top-tier... but once I switched over to the MVP, things went south fast. It feels more like a concentrate than anything else, doesn't it?... The taste is just revolting and way too sweet. 🙂🙂 Anyone else have experience with this? This is my first time trying whey from Optimum Nutrition, and honestly... it’s pretty terrible. I’m starting to wonder if I should have just gone with an isolate instead. They usually taste way more normal and aren't quite as sickly sweet... I was just browsing through some supplement options online today... found this listing for a 2kg tub of Optimum Nutrition... really looking at my current stack and thinking about making some changes... might be time to stock up on the essentials! Just looking for some firsthand experiences, please! xD
I really need some help here... please! 🙂
It’s all good, really. Don't let it get to you... just keep drinking your shakes and hitting the gym!

Henry Doyle4, what about a return? I was told if I’m not satisfied, I can just take it back to the store.🤷
I went with the vanilla flavor and it’s actually fantastic.

There is absolutely zero chance you're getting a refund on something once you've ripped the seal and actually used it

I mean, I’m drinking it, but man, it’s just way too sweet and honestly pretty gross... but what can you do, right? Hehehe...

One spoon is about 10g.

Where are you getting that from?
I've tried plenty of different brands over the years, and honestly, a lot of them have slightly different serving sizes for the exact same weight. It’s a small difference, but it happens.
Usually, one standard tablespoon would be closer to 20g.👍

I've tried several different brands, and I guess they all have slightly different measurements for the same weight in grams (it's subtle, but it happens).
A standard tablespoon would be roughly 20g👍
I weighed it. Maybe we aren't talking about the same thing—I'm thinking of a regular old tablespoon, though I don't know what kind you mean.

I’m sitting here reading through this thread and, honestly, I can hardly believe some of the nonsense being peddled here. 😂 😂 🤣

I actually stumbled upon this baking blog that converts grams to tablespoons, and it claims a tablespoon of flour is about 15g. Honestly, the density of flour seems pretty much on par with whey protein... though obviously, it all comes down to how much you scoop. If you really pack it in there, you could probably squeeze 25g of whey into a single spoon...

Check out their catalog! They’ve got tons of variety and they're basically the top nutritional center on the planet, which means we have them here too.😉
Stay far away from these guys! Scientific has more lawsuits over fake labels than I have hairs on my head, and I'm not even bald! 🙂

And you think you look all cool just because you managed to type out two whole words? If you actually believe you're somehow superior or smarter than the rest of us, why don't you be a dear and explain it to us simpletons? Show us how it's done.🙄

And how would you know? You live in the same part of the country as I do, right?😁
See, that's the thing. I actually went down to Target, returned it, and they gave me a different one to try out since, frankly, I wasn't feeling it at all.😉

The cheapest protein I’ve managed to find so far has definitely been MuscleTech.
All the reviews I've seen are awesome.

You just have to order it to Canada or somewhere else in the EU and pick it up—which isn't really an issue if you live close enough to the border.
Personally, I just head over to the local Jelšanin post office to grab mine.

Since I’m currently cutting weight while ramping up my training intensity, can I use whey protein as a meal replacement during the day? Sometimes work gets so crazy I don't have time to sit down for a proper, healthy meal, so I was thinking about using it then and also right after my workouts. Basically, my question is—I won't accidentally bulk up from this if I'm just taking it twice a day, right? 😁
If I’m understanding things correctly, you need about 2g per kg of body weight to actually build muscle, so those two scoops shouldn't suddenly make me huge, right? :nezna:

If I’m reading this right, you need about 2g per kg for muscle growth, so two scoops shouldn't make me look huge overnight, right?
Don't worry, you aren't going to wake up looking like a bodybuilder! Whey isn't a total food replacement; it's really just a supplement to your diet. It'll be most effective if you grab it right after your workout...
