If you're taking the train, you just tell the station attendant you're heading to Coachella and you should be eligible for that 40% discount—but there's a catch... you have to get your ticket validated right at the festival grounds. If you don't get it validated, they'll charge you the full fare on the train (you'd basically just be paying the difference)... and keep in mind, that specific discount is only valid for round trips...

As for the gear, if you're carrying a camera with interchangeable lenses, I have a feeling they might give you some trouble at the gate...
Standard point-and-shoots shouldn't be an issue at all, though...

So far, I've just been showing up with my Nikon D3500 and a 50mm lens...
but hey, if you start hauling around a whole bag of different lenses, that's probably when things could get messy...

Thanks for all the input. It’s good to know I can just bring my own camera along; thank God I have a basic one that'll do $167 but honestly, the shots are still going to look way better than anything I could snap on my phone.

And you can only get away with a raincoat because I'm pretty sure they won't even let you bring an umbrella inside... what a joke.
Plus, I totally agree about those bands playing way too early—I'm not even dragging myself out of the house before 7 or 8 PM.
