Airbourne absolutely crushed it! Only 70 minutes on stage, but my ears are still ringing like crazy. I’m heading home now—honestly, nothing else matters after that.

Well. My thoughts on day zero.
It’s a total mess—but honestly, within reason.
The security checks went by fast—all possible checkpoints cleared at once—and they swapped our tickets for wristbands. They could have gone with plastic ones, honestly; these are cloth and I'm stuck wearing them for three days straight without being able to take them off. But hey, I'll survive. 🙂 )

Just hit the main stage today. That's about it.
Airbourne. Decent enough. They brought plenty of energy right out of the gate—proper, old-school hard rock to kick things off—and kept it up for over an hour. But honestly? The quality started dipping as the set went on, and I eventually found myself just counting down the minutes until they finished.

And then came the part I was actually looking forward to—first Bloc Party, followed by Iggy Pop.

Bloc Party ran about 10 minutes behind schedule—given the set times—but they absolutely crushed their set. Kele was high energy from the jump, opening the show with a popsicle in his mouth, which was a nice touch. They had great crowd engagement later on, and that light show was seriously impressive. They really got the audience moving and held their own. My only gripes? I missed seeing "Skeleton" in the setlist, and honestly, what were they thinking dropping "We Found in a Hopeless Place" for just 30 seconds? A bit odd.

And then there’s the main event—the star of the evening, and quite possibly the entire festival (The Monkees will have to work incredibly hard to top that)—Iggy Pop!

He flew in loud, performed loud, and left loud.
Ninety minutes of raw punk rock that practically tore the crowd apart.
He called everyone up to the stage to dance with him—during "I Wanna Be Your Dog," the crowd was absolutely losing it. Honestly, at 66 years old, he still sounds and moves like a twenty-year-old kid.
Even toward the end, he threw on this tiger-print jacket—complete with a little tiger on ice—just enough to give off those wild '70s vibes.
The crowd seemed a bit deflated during the encore—honestly, a little low energy—but "Louie Louie" and "Cock in My Pocket," along with that one new track, wrapped up day one of the festival on a high note.

All in all, I’m pretty satisfied—the lineup on the main stage tomorrow is solid, so I won't be moving from the front row. 😁

And finally, one shot of Iggy Pop up on stage with the crowd:

Iggy Pop is a literal god 👍
I mean, I wasn't standing right in the second row or anything, but I totally lost my chance to get up near the stage because my boyfriend—get this—hit me in the stomach so hard out of nowhere that I actually thought I was going to explode. So yeah, I gave up right then and there 😢

Today is all about The Monkees... I’m expecting a total spectacle 😁

Yeah, it’s just such a waste they had them on at 7:15 PM; they would have been the perfect warm-up act for Iggy Pop. 🙂

The Artics were the whole reason I even showed up, and honestly? They absolutely delivered. 😁
They played some new tracks, but more importantly, they dug up those old classics that just hit different... like "Certain Romance"... I haven't heard that one in about 150 years and I was totally 😍...it’s pretty obvious Alex really looked out for us ladies 😍
and his image is totally fine with me—I genuinely don't get why people talk so much trash about him, he gives off such a strong Beatles vibe 😁
so yeah, for me, the festival is basically over since the only thing left on my radar today is the Editors, even if I only know a handful of their songs

If anyone finds themselves lacking the motivation today and would be willing to hand over any kind of valid entry pass for fifty bucks, please send me a DM

Iggy Pop was incredible. This marks the third time I've seen him live, and honestly, I felt like a kid again. I drove all the way from Austin just for this, then headed straight back right after the set—I didn't pull into my driveway until 6 AM after being on the road all night, but man, it was worth every mile. Pure bliss. 🙂

I can't tell if I was just too buzzed and caught up in the crowd's delirium—or if I'm just such a massive fan that I couldn't be objective—but The Monkees were absolutely incredible last night.

It was genuinely great. NOFX felt pretty dreary before them, almost like middle-aged punks clinging to childish gags and toilet humor. While that kind of juvenile stuff can work occasionally, what they did was honestly beneath contempt.🙄

The first day, Bloc Party was a total disaster. Iggy Pop was actually really good, though unfortunately the drinks had already hit me pretty hard by then, so I barely remember the setlist or anything else.

Organization on the first day was a mess. They improved things yesterday regarding the billing and logistics, even if they’re still sending people to the wrong stands for food and whatnot. As for the food, it was easily the worst thing I've ever eaten at a festival—a burger with a tiny patty on dry, stale buns with a few drops of ketchup and a leaf of lettuce. The Mexican food was equally terrible. Just absolute garbage.

All these side activities, the tents, and the parties are pretty mediocre; there isn't anything worth mentioning, and staying up late after the second band is really only for the most intoxicated or least demanding people.

It’s truly baffling how many awards this festival has won—honestly, nothing special about it.

I get the feeling there are a hell of a lot fewer people here than last year.🤷

By the way, I don't know if you guys caught today's report in The New York Times—honestly, I have no clue who gives our "distinguished" critics so much space in the biggest papers. Apparently, Mary Kovac's "witty" band gets more coverage than the actual headliners.🙄

Coachella was honestly pretty dead. There couldn't have been more than 3,000 or 4,000 people there today—if that. I mean, today was a wash, but the last two days weren't much better either; you’re probably looking at an average of maybe 7,000 people a day. Pretty lame...

The standard for this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has plummeted through the floor; the organization was a total mess, and honestly, the lineup was even worse!
I’ve never seen anything quite this disappointing, truly. A complete disaster!
If they don't overhaul everything, we might be looking at a full-on cancellation next year.

Honestly, the turnout was pretty thin. Given who was on the lineup, I can't say I'm surprised.

I mean, if a ticket is going to run you $100, and there isn’t even an option to just grab a partial pass for $50 to catch one specific band,
then it’s pretty much a given that you can't expect massive crowds.

... I thought the whole thing looked pretty pathetic too. It was even more embarrassing watching Maric guest on PBS with Skugor and the Lollapalooza promoter just trashing Lollapalooza the entire time, claiming it's been on a downward spiral for years while insisting Coachella is the most innovative festival in the country... it was painful to watch.
Honestly, the festival had exactly one actual headliner who actually matters globally. Everything else was just busywork—filler acts used to stretch out a schedule so they could claim it’s a three-day event when it really should have been a single afternoon. And the beer $6.00? No thanks. I'd rather be sober at my first festival... though maybe that's why I didn't even have a good time...?!

I felt the exact same way—the whole thing just looked pathetic... and it got even more embarrassing when Maric (the organizer) went on PBS with Skugor and the Lollapalooza promoter for the US and spent the entire time trashing Lollapalooza, claiming it's been on a downward spiral for years... while insisting Coachella is the most innovative festival in the region and beyond... etc etc... honestly, listening to him was painful...
Seriously though, this festival had exactly one legitimate headliner who actually matters on a global scale... everything else was just beating a dead horse and padding out the schedule just to stretch things into three days when it could have easily been packed into a single day... Beer $6.00? ... No thanks, I’ll take my chances being sober at a festival for once... hm, maybe that's why I didn't even enjoy myself...?!

Wait, did beer prices really jump to $6.00? 😲
I mean, I bought some from this guy who paid early and gave him 20, and now I'm wondering why he hasn't given me my change back $1.75 🤣... anyway, I usually get buzzed beforehand—don't get me wrong, I can sober up—but damn, I'd go bankrupt if I kept drinking there... I didn't even buy food; yesterday I snuck in some pretzels, and the days before that, I was basically starving 🙄
In my opinion, there aren't enough stages at this festival—only two real ones, and that smaller one never even has music playing, so the whole lineup basically boils down to the main stage from about 9:15 PM until maybe 1 AM; I wouldn't even bother showing up any earlier than that
And look, if they actually managed to book some recognizable names, the price wouldn't be 250-350—depending on when you bought tickets, it would be closer to $167—but then fewer people would show up. It all really comes down to how much cash someone is willing to drop, but hey, you can't expect Coachella every year, surely you guys realize that ☕... plus, Lollapalooza has always been miles ahead
Since Coachella brings in one "legendary comeback" act every year, I'm expecting Moby next year 😁

Iggy Pop and Editors were incredible—honestly, Iggy was phenomenal, and Editors killed it too.
A total blowout.

Everything else felt watered down. Every single day, there was maybe one band worth seeing, and none of that actual festival energy...

Look, I get that Artics are the hottest thing right now. I haven't seen them because they aren't my vibe, but my gut feeling is that this festival is circling the drain...

The organizers probably think that just because Coachella is a big brand name, people will just show up and buy tickets by default, regardless of how trash the lineup is.

Three days of a festival with maybe one or two heavy hitters a day—some of whom you've already seen—plus a mediocre main stage and zero interesting indie acts? This is just going downhill from here if they keep this up.

Anyone happen to have a clip or photo of the singer from Atlantic Ocean smashing a beer bottle over his head? 😁

kung-fuhrcak said:I just don't get why some international media outlets claim Coachella is one of the best festivals in the world.🤷

And honestly, why did Coachella have to stretch to three days instead of just two? They could have saved that money from a single day and actually put it toward a better lineup. 🤷

Also, I’d hate to see Coachella fail because I am completely fed up with all these American festivals popping up everywhere lately—especially with those ridiculous ticket prices—while our local ones just keep disappearing.

The organizers were probably just trying to squeeze more cash out of us. Instead, they just watered down the lineup and jacked up the ticket prices. All we got for it this year was a pathetic turnout and a total disaster.

Coachella was honestly such a letdown this year. The lineup was pretty pathetic, with maybe one and a half actual headliners. I mean, props to bands like Airborne and SARS—they actually crushed their sets and kept the energy up—but besides Iggy Pop and Arctic Monkeys, there was almost nothing. Honestly, the best music I heard was just whatever the DJ was spinning in that little booth next to the main stage. I haven't been to Lollapalooza, but based on these lineups, I think Coachella could easily hide in a mouse hole. It felt cheap and greedy. $6.00 For beer? And you're telling me it was draft beer?? Give me a break.
Man, thinking back to a few years ago, I didn't even have to choose because there were always like two or three killer bands playing at once... if it's gonna be like this, it might just be better if they shut it down altogether.

Attendance and revenue have been dipping for this festival over the last three years—it's definitely on a downward trend—but honestly, it’s carved out this really cool niche as a chill indie rock fest. I think they should just stick to this vibe for the next few years, though they absolutely need to land one massive headliner every year... you know, someone like AM or Arcade Fire back a couple of years ago. This year's Coachella would've gone totally broke if they hadn't booked Arctic Monkeys, who basically sold 60% of the tickets themselves. Mad respect to Iggy Pop for killing it, but let's be real—kids today don't give a damn about rock legends. To actually pull in 30,000 people a day, they need names like Kings of Leon or 30 Seconds to Mars. I might not even buy a ticket then, but a ton of high schoolers definitely would. Or maybe they could just follow the Lollapalooza playbook and start booking that house nonsense like Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, and whatever other crap. I wouldn't go to a festival like that, though.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if Coachella stayed exactly like it was this year. Just one massive band in their prime, like AM—people seriously went wild, especially since they were headlining Glastonbury last night. You get one living legend, a rock icon like Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, or Mark Lanegan, a few solid acts like Editors, some local talent, and a handful of great bands we've never even heard of, like Team Ghosta. The thing is, if they went that route, tickets would have to be way cheaper. They'd need to overhaul the entire marketing strategy, change how they approach everything, maybe even rebrand the whole name—and seriously, stop trying to lean into that whole Woodstock thing.
