I suppose even the guitarist from Red Hot Chili Peppers played his set sitting down at the concert in Chicago, seemingly for the exact same reason, so if he can manage to play like that, then maybe Florence + The Machine can find a way to sing too.🙂.

Almost every single year they drag in someone actually worth listening to, so I can't complain about the lineup

The location could be a bit better—I mean, Central Park feels pretty isolated when you look at how tough it is to get to via public transit—but hey, you make it work if you have to

Central Park is a great spot. The date is a bit of a letdown, though—if only it were at least a week later...

Oh, one hundred percent. They’re so obsessed with pushing this whole Antifa struggle agenda that they completely miss the forest for the trees, ignoring the fact that they’re basically driving thousands of students straight into a wall because of those overlapping deadlines. It seems everyone’s situation is different, but since my finals fall just a week before the event this year, I suppose I don't have much of a reason to complain 😁.
That said, while the idea of shifting dates to attract more crowds makes sense, it isn't quite that simple; not every university holds exams at the exact same time, so moving things by a week might just mean losing one group of students only to gain another. I guess there's no such thing as finding a perfectly ideal date

A weekday date is pretty much unavoidable—it’s just how things go—and you really can't pass up the chance to time everything around those holidays that line up with the Southside and Hurricane festivals.

Hey everyone. I’m a total amateur when it comes to festivals—never actually been to one of these things before—so please bear with me if this sounds dumb. Does anyone know, or will we find out soon, which artist is playing on which day? I’m thinking about going specifically to see Florence + The Machine, so I need to know her set date and how much a single-day pass costs. (The Coachella website says $100, but someone else mentioned a three-day pass is $300, so now I’m just confused 🙈.)

Look, college kids—and even those older high schoolers looking for an escape—are always the lifeblood of any music festival out there. They will eventually announce the daily lineup, though it probably won't happen until maybe a week or two before the festival starts.
A single-day ticket is 300, while the three-day pass is 350. I suppose the three-day option was 300 until April 17th, so that might be where the confusion lies. You can find the pricing on their official website, which should be the most reliable source for those details.

Or can I use it for any day once I find out when Florence + The Machine is playing? Since the full schedule won't be out until June, I want to know if I should grab a ticket now or wait.

Every single daily pass is tied to one specific day. And honestly, don't even sweat it—they never actually sell out.

If they actually had any sense, they’d drop the prices a bit to drive more crowds through the gates, just like every major international festival does over here.
I just can't wrap my head around the logic behind charging nearly as much for a single day as you would for a full weekend pass at 🤔

Exactly. Headliners are way more in demand on the weekend than during the week, which naturally drives their booking prices up...
But around here, we've got two days off during that period anyway, and we’re pretty much used to festivals being stretched out over multiple days...
And regarding students—I really don't think those three days make much of a difference when you consider how long finals season lasts... maybe a month or so...

And honestly, this whole argument about students isn't even true. I could easily have major deadlines landing right on those dates, and even if I don't, spending my time getting absolutely hammered in Central Park a couple of days before a huge exam is just a recipe for disaster. I've bailed on shows plenty of times for that exact reason. Plus, nowadays, professors don't give you a whole month to finish projects anymore; everything is rushed.

Look, I get that organizers have their own headaches and logistical nightmares to deal with, but that doesn't mean everything is sunshine and rainbows for the rest of us. No one can sit there and tell me that scheduling a massive event in the middle of a weekday isn't a total headache for the people actually trying to attend.

Florence + The Machine is performing on the 23rd—so, the second day. As for those single-day tickets, you can actually only pick them up at the gate.

That isn't actually true regarding students. I could very well have a major deadline fall right on that day; and even if I don't, spending my time getting intoxicated at Central Park just a few days before finals isn't exactly the smartest move. I've personally skipped out more than a few times for that exact reason. Besides, those academic deadlines don't last a month anymore.

I certainly understand the logistical headaches facing organizers, but that doesn't mean everything is perfect or wonderful. No one can honestly tell me that scheduling an event in the middle of the week isn't a significant hurdle for attendees.

Most of the larger, top-tier festivals almost always take place over the weekend. That is likely one of the reasons why Coachella is held during the week. If they organized it for the weekend, the biggest names would probably be [local indie bands], and Franz Ferdinand would end up headlining every single year.
