At about 90% of colleges, deadlines run for roughly a month.
Sure, every once in a while a deadline might clash with a festival, but you either go to the show or you stay at the festival until the security guards kick you out—unless you're one of those dedicated campers who tries to cram the night before, which, let's be honest, is a terrible idea.
It’s honestly pretty ridiculous to claim that three days in a month can ruin your entire exam period... if people think that way, maybe college isn't for them in the first place...

It's not the first time, and it certainly won't be the last, that I've headed straight from a concert to an exam and passed it—and I'm not talking about easy electives, but some seriously demanding courses.
Anything is possible when you actually want to do it... 🙂

Anyway.. students have the whole day to study, then they hit up Coachella at night. Even if they drink themselves under the table, they can just sleep in whenever they want and cram for most of the day before the show starts. It's nothing like us, having to actually get up and go to work. And if you've got an exam the next morning? Just catch the set and head home.

Honestly, there is just no sense in trying to have a real debate with someone who seems to think organizing a local backyard BBQ is basically the same thing as putting together a massive music festival... especially after dropping that absolute gem about how Flo—who, mind you, is currently playing the biggest stages of her career—is arriving in the States a little late for 😵

Honestly, I truly couldn't care less whether the festival spans over a week or just hits during the weekend—I’d be there regardless. And look, I get where the organizers are coming from, I really do, but claiming there's absolutely no difference for the people actually attending feels a bit condescending, don't you think? It’s like saying that scheduling this right in the middle of everyone's breaks won't affect student turnout because, hey, only the campaign kids are actually studying in June. There is a massive distinction between understanding why they picked a specific date and blindly defending it while labeling any dissenting opinion as "idiotic."
The timing is probably more or less optimal—though I can definitely think of a few other ways they could have played it—considering they had to juggle a million moving parts, but that doesn't make it perfect.
No amount of ad hominem attacks is going to change the reality of the situation.

Enough with the technicalities, let's get back to the actual meat of the discussion.
The final headliner was announced exactly a month and a half ago. We're talking less than two months out from the festival now. I think it's safe to say the lineup is set in stone. Given all that, I'm giving this year's lineup a solid seven out of ten.

If you ask me, most of the crowd at Coachella falls right in that 25 to 30 age bracket. You don't see many students dominating the scene—mostly because once ticket prices climb, the student demographic loses its edge. It’s primarily working professionals out there now. 😁
Don't even get me started on high schoolers; they basically don't show up to concerts anymore. $117...or they're just vanishingly rare.

Targeting a crowd between 16 and 35 is the plan, but let’s be real—it’s definitely going to be mostly the 18 to 25 crowd. Now, people love to claim that maybe the demographic isn't actually that young because of financial reasons, but honestly, I think that's just a convenient excuse that doesn't hold much water in reality.

Or, to put it more bluntly, festivals just start losing their luster for them. Concerts are a totally different beast altogether—that really just depends on who is playing on stage.

That "no way" thing is really grating on me. Like, do you actually know the difference between a 22-year-old and someone who's 25 or 26?
I personally think the bulk of the crowd is somewhere between 25 and 30. But hey, you say there's no way, so I guess you're the expert.

Honestly though, there's a massive difference between someone in their early twenties and someone hitting their late twenties—you can see it in at least two out of three cases, no question about it.
