I'm honestly just curious to see who they'll scramble to book at the last minute to fill those slots.

Probably some shitty replacement. And just when I thought I’d finally have all the new songs down before Coachella 😬

Now I’m just sitting here waiting to see who they announce as the new headliner ☕.

If nothing happens, though, this might actually make my decision easier. I suppose I won't be committing to the full Coachella experience anymore; I'll probably just show up for the final day, mostly just to catch Placebo.

It isn't necessarily a given that the replacement will be underwhelming, either. I guess we could see something like New Order stepping in as a last-minute sub, much like how they did a few years back when they ended up being one of the best acts on the lineup.

I will admit—if only Gaslight Anthem were the replacement, it would be ten times better than the Machine

Blur’s asking for a massive chunk of the budget—just like every other headliner on the lineup (including Foo Fighters and Muse)—plus another 100,000 bucks on top of that.

Based on the way they phrased it—saying she’ll "perform next year instead," as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival organizers put it—I’d bet anything they haven't even paid her yet. It sounds like they're short on cash to find a decent replacement... so expect some random minor indie band just to kill time.

Man, what a bummer. It’s a real shame, honestly. But hey, I’m mostly hitting up Coachella for Placebo and Death Cab for Cutie anyway—plus Antemasque, La Roux, and FFS—so the lineup isn't totally ruined for me!

It’s honestly great news for those of us who didn't manage to snag a ticket—now we can just scour the Craigslist ads and wait for them to show up on the back of some guy's truck. 😁

Yeah, except people don't realize that for $100 they won't sell to anyone (especially now that the headliner canceled). 😁 But they'll figure it out... in a week or two.😉

I’d sign up for Gaslight *right now*, but I doubt the logistics would work out. They're playing in Germany on June 22nd and then hitting Finland on the 25th. We just don't fit into that schedule. 🙂

It sucks that Florence canceled, but I'm still looking forward to the festival... even if none of the headliners actually interest me anymore. 😬

Hopefully they can pull in a bigger name.

Look, they have three days of downtime—they could fly over from Germany after their show, and they’d still have a day to rest before heading to Finland. Who knows? Not that I’m holding my breath; this is Coachella, after all. If they had intended to book them, they would have done it ages ago.

I suspect there might be some connection to Gaslight. They played in Chicago not too long ago, and since they haven't released anything new since then, I suppose it’s somewhat unlikely. Though, I guess I would be more than happy if they returned, as they might fit quite nicely into the lineup, but I doubt much will come of it.
Personally, I have a feeling they might just slot in a popular local or regional act, assuming that’s the easiest path for them to take in a situation like this 🤷.

True, Coachella is best known for booking bands that haven't toured the US recently and have fresh releases under their belts.
But I agree—there will almost certainly be a local name on that bill. Regardless, someone on Facebook mentioned that this year's Coachella is set to have four headliners, which implies that the famous fourth slot will simply replace Florence, and that's that.
