I don't know, man, Cypress was always legendary to me. After twenty years, finally getting to see them live and realizing they still absolutely crush it... I lost my mind when they introduced the crew and that one guy did a skit straight out of "Bring the Noise." 😁 Pure insanity. 😁

Grinderman feels like if The Doors were on crack right now. Cave is easily one of the most high-energy acts I've ever seen live, but honestly? It’s just too much noise and not enough melody. You’d have to be completely tripping out just to keep up with the vibe.
What was up with that tiny little guitar that evil Brad plays during that last song (or maybe the second to last)?

Day one was definitely better. Last night was a total letdown, even though there were three times as many people there. And that stupid headphone party? What an absolute disaster...

An electric mandolin, 😁 I guess.

Major props to Nick Cave and the crew 🙏 Everything else was pretty much irrelevant to me ☕ 😁

We managed to snag some cheap beers, though I did end up drinking one watered-down mess just for $6.75. Plus, my feet are absolutely killing me—massive blisters everywhere 🤷. All in all, it was alright, I guess. My only real gripe is how expensive everything was.

Nick Cave could honestly just completely outshine Mike Skinner if they were on the same stage. 🙏

What a joke of a festival. You’ve got headliners who haven't dropped an album in seven years and some side project from Nick Cave. Honestly, reading all your posts just makes me feel even better about skipping this whole tragicomedy of an event.
My only real regret is missing Arcade Fire, but they're at their absolute peak right now and I'm sure they'll be touring through the States again soon. Better to just catch them at a solo show anyway.

Cypressi were absolutely incredible. They are the whole reason I even made the trip out here—nothing but respect for them. Plus, they dropped their Rais up album last year, so don't believe everything you read in the headlines...

retro Stefson 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

Never heard of them, but I tagged along with the crew just to see what the fuss was about—we’ve had way too much pretentious indie stuff lately. Turns out... they put on the absolute best set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this year.

Pure musical bliss and nothing but good vibes. Honestly, hats off to them! :klap::klap::klap:

You’re kidding me. Seriously?

David Sullivan4 said:retro Stefson was easily the most entertaining band at the festival. 👍

Grinderman-netko. 🙂 Mastodon — best guitar work out there. Period.

Warren Ellis for President? Please. Is anyone actually serious about this? 😍

Now I’m actually annoyed—I missed out on retro Stefson. 😢

Is this some kind of joke? A guy playing an accordion like a total amateur—is that really what we're doing now? Just mindless noise. kaže:
What was that tiny guitar the bearded villain was playing during the last song—or was it the second to last?

She showed up in quite a few letters. 😉

So, he was hanging out on Mastodon and Grinderman-netko.
I love Mastodon—but I really missed out on one beer. $6.75 🙏I guess I’ll just scatter my thoughts here—it left me somewhat suspended afterward. Despite how complicated it all was, that was an incredible performance.

Grinderman-netko absolutely tore it up—the energy was unreal. I actually feel for that guy who spends all his time collecting stuff for Cave. 🙏 🤣

Elemetal killed it! Honestly, such a bummer they had to play in that brutal heat though... Once they wrapped up, I swung by the retro Stefson set and caught maybe the last couple of songs... man, what a vibe. Easily the best spontaneous moment of the whole festival. Everyone was losing it—laughing, dancing, the choreography, even when they jumped into the crowd... seriously, props to those guys... 🙏
Cypress Hill were just okay... like, they put in the effort, but there were definitely some awkward moments where things just didn't click...
Mastodon sounded awesome. A little too aggressive for my taste, but damn, it looked cool...
TV on the Radio—missed them entirely because I spent half the time stuck in a massive line waiting for pancakes😵
Grinderman-netko mentioned earlier that there was way too much noise and not enough actual music...

Megan Rodriguez44 said:Mastodon After that, even Nick Cave couldn't deliver what he used to.

The crowd looked like they were out for a retirement home field trip.

Mastodon was absolutely fascinating.

The crowd was actually decent—people were there to watch and listen to the band, not those losers waiting for something heavy enough to start moshing in the front row.

It’s not about being hardcore or whatever, but there’s always some meathead who feels the need to show everyone else how "brutal" he is.

Those guys seriously piss me off!!!

I just stood by myself near the stage, vibing to every single note.

Nick Cave absolutely deserves a headlining slot regardless of what he's playing, and his management knows he's massive here in America.

The biggest fail of this whole thing is, in my opinion, having way too many local acts (including the ones from nearby places like Canada or Mexico), and bringing out Cypress Hill was a total disaster.

The organization was actually a bit better this year. They finally got the food situation under control, so there wasn't all that shouting and chaos you usually see at those small-town county fairs. That being said, the prices were absolutely highway robbery...$6.75paying that much for beer that isn't even top-shelf is a joke...$12and don't even get me started on the burgers and dry buns—it was pretty mediocre. As for Skittles, they’re being their usual stingy selves, yet they still want everyone to see their branding everywhere. We’ve got 50,000 people here and they only handed out 200 balloons and some popcorn? For a massive corporation like that, it’s honestly embarrassing. They could have easily given out t-shirts, hats, blankets, or something useful. Regarding the music, enough said: Gentleman, Cypress Hill, Arcade Fire, and Dubioza absolutely crushed it... and Nick Cave's side project totally blew me away... I'd rather buy a muscle car than deal with my ears ringing like this. I love the Bad Seeds, but Grinderman was a bit much for me. J.K. was just okay, maybe a vocal issue or something, but since it's my first time hearing them, I can't complain too much.
All in all, I'd give it a 7 out of 9.

Here’s my report from day two. I guess I'm the only one who thought the streets were a total mess 😬, but the food trucks were killer, and Grinderman absolutely crushed it <3

The crowd was actually quite decent—just people watching and listening to the band—rather than that specific type of audience that sits there desperately waiting for something aggressive enough to justify moshing in the front rows.

It isn't about labeling them as hardcore or anything like that, but there is always inevitably some obnoxious guy who feels the need to show everyone else how "brutal" he is.

People like that truly piss me off!!!

As for me, I just stood by myself near the stage, headbanging in my own little world, and soaked in every single note.

Are you talking about the guy in the "hardcore" shirt? That dude was such a total buzzkill. I remember when they started playing "Iron Tusk," and while I was happily jumping around, he just comes flying in out of nowhere... honestly, at 160 pounds, I wasn't looking for a fight—I just bowed my head and walked away XD
Later on, I moved right to the very front and it was perfect... the crowd was a real mixed bag, but mostly respectful... the atmosphere was spot on, with everyone going wild for "Wolf is Loose" and "Blood and Thunder."🙏

My favorite band for the second time... this time right here in our city.🙂

After they finished, a friend and I sprinted over to Cypress Hill and made it back just in time for the last two songs... "Rock Superstar"😁... and then at the end, all the lights came up and they did those stage dives....

Hyped up for the second day at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, all things considered.🤣

That kind of raw, unadulterated punk energy from a band of this stature—and let’s be honest, if we look past all those local acts like Satane panonski or Klinski pomor—is something we haven't seen in Washington, D.C. since the Stranglers caused that massive brawl on stage back in '78! 🙏 🙏 🙏

I'm talking about Grinderman, obviously, and their ultimate answer to that nagging question every middle-aged guy eventually asks himself: What could I have actually pulled off if I had "this" level of intellect combined with "those" years of experience? 👍

Before them, Dubioza Kolektiv was great, though. I didn't quite get why people were praising the crowd for choosing them over Mastodon or CH-. 😕 It’s just not realistic to suggest anyone would pick those two bands over them in this lineup. 😛

Dubioza Kolektiv definitely earned a better slot than being relegated to the "third tier."

Musically, they were even better than the first night, but man, that beer was still terrible. 👎

Honestly, the logistics were a total disaster!
Just to name a few of the "minor" issues—the lines at the entrances, the ticket exchanges, buying tickets, and then, as if that wasn't enough, they put the press accreditation booth right next to the free guest check-in. You’ve got people waiting an hour and a half just to get their damn wristbands because two girls are sharing a single laptop, checking every tiny detail of who is who... It was exhausting. I saw someone standing in front of me before 9 AM—basically a local legend—and the poor guy was soaked to the bone and shivering because he knew he was going to be late for Arcade Fire. All of this just took me back to that first disastrous year, back when it was still the old VIP version of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and that whole mess with the voucher system... 😵
Then, during the night on the first day, some guys in a tent actually beat up two girls—and it was brutal. Not a single one of those heavy-duty security guards—the ones who are usually ready to toss you into a lake if your wristband is even slightly loose—was anywhere to be found near them.
And don't even get me started on the silent disco—what a massive fail! On the first night, they were swapping out IDs for the headphones, just so people wouldn't walk off with them, and the staff mixed up a huge pile of personal IDs. People ended up having to hang around way after everything finished just to reclaim their documents. To top it off, they set it up in the most idiotic spot imaginable; right around midnight, when everyone is pouring out of the main stage, a thirty-meter line forms for the silent disco, and you just can't get through.
Okay, getting food, drinks, or vouchers was relatively easy, but they seem to have these massive failures year after year... it’s almost hard to believe. 🤷
