I definitely get the sense that the crowds were noticeably bigger than in years past, though personally, I’d chalk that up to the amazing weather rather than the actual lineup. Plus, there's just that growing hype—that word-of-mouth reputation—that seems to build every single year.

See, this was my fourth time hitting up Coachella, and honestly, it was the first time I didn't spend the whole weekend white-knuckling a raincoat.🤷

Food and drink prices were actually pretty reasonable for someone coming from a high-cost area like NYC🤷 🤣
But nobody’s talking about the shuttle situation near Santa Monica Pier, which was a total mess. There was only one bus running when there should’ve been at least three or four, and if you weren't at the first stop, you didn't stand a chance—it was already packed to the gills by then.
And honestly, the headache wasn't just the line for wristbands; it was also the whole process of picking up tickets that were already bought. They had two windows open with maybe six people working total, and I spent an hour just standing there... I think I actually sobered up waiting. Everyone was on edge, losing their minds, swearing, and the staff seemed totally disconnected... I don't know if that was part of the design, but I didn't even get a physical ticket, they just gave me a wristband right away. I guess they realized that was four times faster.
Once inside, there were zero signs telling you where the stages were or anything helpful like that. We basically had to hunt down the schedule from the press center because nobody at the entrance bothered to tell us a thing.
Still, I guess I have a weird thing for chaotic festival vibes.

I saw fewer performers than I did last year, but man, they absolutely killed it. (I’m talking about the lineup after 7 PM because, honestly, I didn't feel like showing up earlier for the rest of it.) The White Stripes were definitely the highlight for me. Arcade Fire really gave it their all, though it clearly didn't land with everyone since the vibe felt more like people just sitting around critiquing the music. Drake was a pleasant surprise, too. As for the others, I got exactly what I expected, so I can live with that. Luckily, the weather was gorgeous, which definitely made the whole experience better. All things considered, it turned out much better than I anticipated, even if some of those scheduling gaps meant I couldn't catch a few acts because it was impossible to make it from one stage to another in under 20 minutes.

The beer situation and the entry process were a total mess. The food was predictably overpriced and pretty subpar—I don't expect gourmet dining from fast food, but come on, at least give me some lettuce or extra sauce when I'm paying $12. And honestly, if they're leaning so hard into sponsorships, maybe they should partner up with Coca-Cola and let them handle the drinks. I didn't hit the Silent party this year, but from what I'm hearing about the headphone situation, it sounds like a complete disaster. It felt ridiculous last year having to shell out $5.00 for those covers using some weird non-festival currency, even though they claim the Silent party is included in the ticket price. Also, the festival shuttle running around Santa Monica Pier... it showed up twice incredibly packed and then just missed people. They really need more shuttles or more frequent trips. Hm... and then there was that same old headache again where they ran out of vouchers and soda right after the final headliner finished. I barely managed to use my last bit of credit to grab one last glass of wine before heading out.

I'd love to say I'm hopeful that they'll fix all these issues next year, but if Coachella has taught me anything, it's that some things will be brilliant, some will break, some will get fixed, and others will change unexpectedly... it's always a roll of the dice. At any rate, I'm hoping for at least some solid headliners; so far, it looks like they haven't messed that part up yet.

...I don't know, why is everyone freaking out about the prices (especially for drinks)? They aren't even that much higher than at other festivals...🤷...Honestly, you could argue they're actually cheaper, or at least pretty similar, especially when you compare them to festivals over in Canada, which sits right around the same level as us economically speaking.

As for 2012, I’m hoping the festival stays at the same spot—if they bring back the beer at $5.00, I’ll be perfectly fine. I’ll probably have plenty to complain about regarding the lineup—and likely pick a fight early on—but in the end, it usually works out. I just hope the city decides to be a bit more accommodating with the vendor fees this time. This year, even the light rail wasn't free.

It’s funny how things cycle through, isn't it? They started out all "trust me," full of that wide-eyed, almost naive confidence, and somehow, after everything they've been through, we ended up sitting there listening to "Dry Your Eyes." It's like watching a movie where the protagonist starts off chasing a dream in bright sunlight only to finish the film staring at the rain in a dark alleyway. Just one big, slow slide from certainty into that heavy, quiet realization that things aren't always what they seem. 😁

I spent the rest of the concert lost in the haze at a dive bar downtown. 😛 I also recall hearing that they used to play "OMG" and "Everything Is Borrowed" back-to-back during their sets. 😍

That’s really all I can conjure up from the fog of my memory. 🙂 If I had managed to corner one of those roadies and grab one of those leaked setlists they’re always passing around, I probably could have laid it all out for you, though honestly, it was a bit of a close call actually getting my hands on the thing in the first place. 😢

I have my doubts about that, though—they've actually had offers from places quite far outside of the city, and honestly, some places might even pay them to relocate...
But hey, anything can happen in a year's time, and personally, I'm still pulling for the usual location 🙂

Totally worth hitting up this festival. Definitely got my money's worth, especially on day two.
The White Stripes were killer!
The Killers were such a massive surprise too! Too bad I only caught their last few songs after seeing Elemental.
That Vega food stand was top-tier—huge portions for just $12.

All in all, feeling pretty 🙂

I’m still totally buzzing from Coachella 😍 I go every single year, but this one honestly hit different. Yeah, the logistics were kind of a mess and the Silent set was a complete disaster, but seeing Arcade Fire live was such an incredible experience that everything else just faded into the background. Please, for the love of god, bring them back.

Yeah, but honestly? I’d rather knock back six beers for $20, be in a great mood, and then go grab some food and maybe some shots later. Way better than dropping sixty bucks on three beers and spending the whole night being pissed off because everything is overpriced.
