Is it because that MuscleTech was on sale, so now they just "bumped up" the price??

MuscleTech and Optimum Nutrition are still technically on sale, but the discount isn't what it used to be. If you buy them individually, you're paying about a dollar more per unit than before.
Just two days ago, MuscleTech whey was sitting at $39.99 after tax; now, it's climbed to $40.99.

How much prices jump in Canada won't even touch what we're seeing here in the States now

Our guys are nothing but straight-up thieves.

At some point, those prices might creep closer to ours, but they’ll never actually catch up. It’s simple math: brands like Optimum Nutrition, MuscleTech, and Labrada don't move nearly as fast here, so retailers end up sitting on old stock for much longer. They aren't going to refresh their inventory at these new, higher price points as quickly as they do in Canada. On top of massive profit margins, we're also fighting a 23% food tax, whereas they're only looking at 8.5% over there.
I've heard from my sources that Optimum Nutrition should see about a ten percent bump, though it'll be a gradual climb rather than a sudden spike. That's the word on the street...

I picked up some MuscleTech pro whey to test out, and I’ve gotta say, I’m pretty satisfied with it—aside from the flavor being a hair too sweet for my liking. It packs more carbs than Optimum Nutrition, but the solubility is nearly on par with Optimum, and it doesn't foam up much more than Optimum does either. That said, it has significantly less glutamine compared to Optimum. Surprisingly, MuscleTech whey actually outperformed MuscleTech for me here.

Hey, I’m looking for some advice regarding Mass and dextrose. How many scoops of Mass should I be mixing with my oats in the morning, and then after my workout, how much dextrose am I looking at? Also, how much Mass should I be tossing into my shaker with how much water? Someone suggested I use Mass with my oats in the morning on training days, and then follow it up with dextrose post-workout, while on off-days I just stick to the oats in the morning. I’m trying to nail down the exact way to use this Mass—and should I be leveling off those scoops or packing them full to the top? Here’s the stuff I'm talking about:

On non-training days, I just take it with oats in the morning. I need to know the exact way to use Mass, and should I be using heaping scoops? Here is the Mass I am talking about:

First off, I don't get why you'd bother adding dextrose after a workout. Who actually gave you that advice?
Second, this stuff packs 7g of creatine per 160g of powder. That isn't small; in my opinion, it’s overkill.
I suggest you drink at least 2-3 liters of water a day specifically because of that creatine load. Watch your dosages closely, otherwise, you'll end up overdoing the creatine—which is likely the whole reason this supplement even works.

I’d split that 160g total into two separate doses.
For me, taking 30g of a carb blend, 30g of multi-source protein, roughly 3g of creatine plus BCAAs, and a touch of glutamine as a post-workout meal is plenty. I’d personally take the first serving about an hour before hitting the gym, but that’s just my way of doing things.

So, I’ve been following some advice from people on those fitness forums about taking Mass with dextrose right after my workouts. They suggested checking the carb count in the Mass to balance it out with the dextrose, which honestly just leaves me even more confused than when I started. Since I’m such a total newbie at this, I'm struggling with how to actually dose everything. The label on the Mass says to take it three times a day, but the guys online told me that sounds like way too much and that I should stick to having it in the morning and then again after training mixed with dextrose—plus just having it with oatmeal on non-training days. What really trips me up, though, is the measurement part; I don't own a scale, so should I just be filling the scoop all the way to the top? And how many scoops of Mass am I looking at post-workout if I do mix it with dextrose? Or if I follow what you said and skip the dextrose entirely and just have the Mass with my morning oats, how many scoops of 😕
should I be using?

Look, buddy, here’s a wild thought for you: actually read the instructions.

Personally, I wouldn't touch that stuff more than once a day—strictly post-workout.

crimsondrifter15 said:Look, man, here’s a wild suggestion: actually read the instructions.

Personally, I’d only take this once a day—specifically right after training.

The issue is that one serving (3 scoops) hits 160g, and they recommend taking it twice daily for 8 weeks.
In other words, you're looking at roughly 14g of creatine every single day for two months. That's going to load you up fast, making you think you've packed on massive muscle when, in reality, you're just bloated from the creatine.

In other words, you're looking at about 14g of creatine daily for 8 weeks. That’ll fill you up quite a bit, making you think you've gained massive muscle when really you're just bloated from the creatine.

First off, I wouldn't even touch that Mass product, but if someone already bought it, I'd say just take it post-workout like I mentioned before.

Second, the guy is asking how many scoops to take—which means he doesn't even know the nutritional facts per serving—how much water to mix it with, when to drink it, or if he even needs it in the first place...?

Third, man, you can't be that clueless and not even read the instructions. 🤷
And honestly, who buys a supplement without knowing what it's for, how to use it, or what's actually inside it?

I really don't get people who go out and buy a mountain of supplements and then just start taking, I don't know, five spoonfuls of something just because some random guy on a forum advised them to. 🤦

Personally, I'm against these kinds of mass gainer products. I don't think an amateur needs them. You're better off putting that money into real food, decent gear, or just more sessions at the gym.

Since I'm a beginner, it's all a bit overwhelming. The label on the Mass says to take it three times a day, but those forum users said that’s overkill. They suggested I just stick to what I mentioned—in the morning and after training with dextrose. On non-training days, just oats in the morning. What I really need to know is how much Mass should go into the scoop? Should I fill it to the brim? I don't own a scale to measure it precisely. Also, how many scoops of Mass should I mix with the dextrose after a workout if I decide to do that? Or, if I follow your advice and take it an hour before or in the morning with oats, how many scoops of 😕
should I use?

If three scoops equal 160g, how much is one scoop? It's not rocket science.
Look, just split it into two servings: one before training and one after. Besides, these types of supplements are generally designed for high-level athletes with grueling schedules, not for casual gym-goers.
And why on earth do you feel the need to drink it first thing in the morning? You aren't going to be cycling or running in your sleep and draining your glycogen stores.
Eat some oats in the morning. Take that Mass and split it into two 80g portions, or just use it after your workout for recovery. Personally, I'd probably throw some creatine in there before training too.
On rest days, use it as a snack during the day, but don't take it all at once (like the full 160g).
And whatever you do, don't mix that Mass with milk—stick to water!

Hey there!

So, I've been crushing some Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey for the last three months—it's got a solid reputation and everyone says it's top-tier—but now that summer is rolling in, I'm looking for something in that same ballpark but maybe a little easier on my wallet... you know, a bit cheaper. I was picking up the usual stuff at $117, so I’m curious what you guys would suggest as a solid alternative?

Thanks!

Based on the ingredients, I'd tell you to give MuscleTech WHEY protein complex a shot.
The profile is pretty much identical to Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey.

Check your PM.

You can find MuscleTech whey for about $100 on eBay Whey.

I picked some up recently. Personally, I'm satisfied with the flavor, how well it mixes, and the fact that it doesn't cause any digestive issues.

It's slightly cheaper, and word is it isn't any worse than Optimum Nutrition.

It's a bit easier on the wallet, and word is it holds its own against Optimum Nutrition.

Personally, MuscleTech gives me regular stomach issues because of the lactose.
It's mostly just concentrate with a tiny bit of isolate thrown in.
Plus, you get these annoying little clumps when you mix it; there is simply no comparison to Optimum Nutrition.

Can someone please tell me—is it actually better to mix my protein with milk or just stick to water?
