When I'm watching movies, it honestly feels like the picture quality isn't nearly as crisp as it was back on Windows XP.

One little issue here:

I ended up having to wipe my hard drive because of a virus, so I had to reinstall Windows 7, and I set it up in American.
Now I'm stuck because I have no clue how to get rid of this password it keeps asking for at startup—you know, the user account password.
I have to type it in every single time before I can even get into Windows, and honestly, it’s starting to get on my nerves.
I've already dealt with the headache of formatting the whole disk, so having to deal with this too is just a bit much.

Can anyone tell me how to just remove the password?

Thanks!

Just wanted to drop my thoughts. Everything’s working fine so far, except for two things... First, with this HP PSC 1215, I can't find any option to check ink levels anywhere, and there's zero way to adjust the print quality settings. The old drivers won't install, so Windows just went ahead and slapped on the default drivers recommended by HP...
I checked the HP website too, but nothing I found actually helped...
The second thing is that out of five times I boot up the PC, once—right after Windows loads—the whole thing just freezes... a quick restart fixes it, though. It's pretty rare... mostly, I'm happy with how the week has gone 🙂

Anyone happen to have a fix for the printer?

thanks

So, I just finished installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64 and went ahead to download the latest Daemon Tools 4.35 Lite... I start the installation process, and immediately, it throws an error saying "not a valid win32 application"?!?!

Help me out here! Thanks so much!

I guess you could look up how to handle this in Windows 7 here, if you're interested. 🙄

It actually worked, thanks a ton, Noah Sanchez39! 🙂

I just downloaded Windows 7 build 7600 and it's asking me for a product key... I guess anyone might be able to help me out with that?

so I ended up going to a random file-sharing site to grab a Windows 7 activator
is this the right place to be asking?

Well, just give him a hug then...
Once you two make up, go ahead and fire up Google,
then come back to the forum and actually read this:

After that, check this out:

Once you've finished reading everything, head back to the Windows 7 thread and politely beg the mods for forgiveness since you're clearly still a kid. Otherwise, stay off the forum entirely.
Is that clear enough for you?

Oops, my bad.
Things are looking a bit clearer now.
I should probably apologize for what I said earlier about this; I don't think I'll make that mistake again.
Still out here Googling everything...
(Thanks for the heads-up.)

Take a quick look at who actually posts sensible stuff here, then shoot them a PM. Most people will help you out. If you act like this, the mods will just come down on you...
Just edit your previous post and wait.

Do you even realize what's happening here? :/

Just finished my first install of Windows 7 32-bit and honestly, everything went super smooth 🙂
. Found my GPU drivers without any drama, and even the old drivers meant for Vista aren't giving me any grief—everything’s running like a charm, which is a nice change of pace from this forum constantly throwing those 504 Gateway Time-out errors at me 😠😠
.
Anyway, I've got two quick things I'm stuck on:
1: I've been hunting everywhere but I just can't figure out how to set it back to the Windows Classic start menu.
Back when I was using Vista, you had those options on the left side once you hopped into the Control Panel, but now it's just blank... I can't find where that setting moved to, assuming it even still exists.
2. When I pull up Windows Media Player, the taskbar stays stuck at the bottom image. It wasn't like this in Vista—back then, when I maximized a window, it would actually fill the whole screen properly. How do I fix this without having to use the "auto-hide taskbar" trick? Is that the only way to get that extra screen space back?
Thanks.

Managed to find the GPU drivers myself, and any drivers made for Vista seem to work fine without issues—unlike this forum, which keeps throwing 504 Gateway Time-out errors.😠 😠

Anyway, I have two quick questions:
1: I've been looking everywhere, but I can't figure out how to set it back to a classic start menu.
In Vista, it was on the left side when you opened the Control Panel, but now it's just empty, and I can't find the setting if it even exists.
2. When I open Windows Media Player, the taskbar stays at the bottom, image which wasn't an issue in Vista; back then, things would just fill the whole screen once maximized. Is there a way to fix this without using autohide, or is that the only option?
Thanks.

1. There isn't really a classic start menu in 7; you could try picking a Windows Classic theme, or maybe just search "customize Start menu" in Help and Support to see how to tweak the layout.

2. If you're running the player, maybe try hitting ALT+Enter for full screen. On my machine, that makes movies play in Windows Media Player across the whole screen without the taskbar getting in the way. 🙂

I’d bet anything they messed something up with how Windows Media Player handles full-screen mode.
I hit Alt+Enter—which is basically the same as F11—but once I exited full screen, I was left with this weird extra frame at the top. image
That’s not really what I meant, though; when you launch it in a window (not full screen), it used to cover the whole display perfectly.
As for getting that Classic menu back, I just download it from http://www.csmenu.com/.
Honestly, I’m a bit nervous about installing stuff like that—if I end up breaking something in Windows, trying to roll back with System Restore can be a total nightmare. It’s such a headache.🤣
But man, I am so used to the Classic look. Guess I'll just have to deal with it like this for now.

Here, just so you can see that the Start menu is actually working...
You can see your username right there in the image:

And seriously, next time, just upload your images to Imgur
