Alright, let's run a quick poll. Who's actually running Windows 7 smoothly, and who's dealing with constant lag and glitches? ☕☕

man, idk how to put this...

it’s basically a joke at the expense of people who don't know their way around a PC or a car (no offense intended)

Can anyone give me a hand here?
My Wi-Fi keeps dropping out like clockwork—every two hours, right?—and then it just sits there demanding the network key again.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional.

Look, you guys are my last resort here... I've already posted this issue on three or four different forums and nobody seems to have a clue what's going on...

Here's the deal: I installed Windows 7 and everything worked perfectly for about a month. Then, out of nowhere, this starts happening. Whenever I try to save an image from a site like Facebook—right-click, "Save As" to the desktop—it throws an error saying "THERE ARE NO MORE FILES." It’s not like I don't know how to save a file; I've done it a million times. Even if I open Notepad, type something, and try to save it anywhere, I get the exact same message: "THERE ARE NO MORE FILES." Has anyone dealt with something similar? I already tried resetting my Folder Options in the Control Panel, but that didn't fix anything...

I need help... I'm thinking about just popping in my Windows 7 disc and running a reinstall over the current installation. Will that mess anything up?

Maybe your disk is just completely maxed out, I guess you should probably check that first.

It looks to me like Windows 7 hasn't been activated yet and is just running on a trial period....

Windows 7 is the original version... there's about 200 gigs of free memory left

Nothing worked. I ran the SFC scan through the command prompt exactly like the instructions said, and it didn't find a single thing—not one error.

If I pop in a Windows 7 DVD and perform a reinstall over the existing OS, could that actually fix anything? Maybe it’ll clear out whatever errors are lingering under the surface.

won't do squat if you format the drive

If you just overwrite the existing installation, nothing crazy should happen, so you might as well give it a shot.
Just don't go formatting anything like driftingmarlin70 suggested 😬

Maybe try a system restore to a few days ago when everything was working fine?

Have you tried a system restore to a point a few days back when things were actually running smoothly?

This thing has been dragging me down for about two weeks now, and I've hit a wall. There's no real fix in sight. What's the point of restoring to a state from fifteen days ago? It's not worth the hassle. I'll just try reinstalling Windows 7 over the existing setup.

I don't think doing a system restore from 15 days ago is really worth the hassle. It’ll just wipe out any programs you've added since then, but your files—docs, photos, music, videos, emails, whatever—should stay perfectly fine 🙂
Maybe one of those apps you installed over the last couple of weeks is what actually caused the issue in the first place.

can someone walk me through how to actually install themes for Windows 7
the issue is that some themes work instantly when I click the icon, but others just open up the theme settings window without changing anything at all... nothing happens besides that pop-up
i've got the shell folders, en-US, SiCo Big, SiCo Small, Wallpapers, plus stuff like shell32 etc...
how do you actually get these things running? do I need some specific software or what?
I'm pulling these themes from this site: http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/#

thanks

Just install the Universal Theme Patcher and run it. Once it finishes up, give your computer a quick restart, and then you'll be all set to start using those cool themes from DeviantArt!

Well, I finally sorted my issue out by just reinstalling Windows 7 right over the existing installation. It was a pain—had to set everything up from scratch and reinstall all my software... but whatever. The important thing is that it works now. I noticed a "Windows Old" folder appeared on my C: drive; apparently, that’s where the old OS files moved, so luckily I didn't lose anything. Thanks to everyone who tried to lend a hand. Looking back, maybe the smartest move would have been running a System Restore from the last two weeks, like Keith Bennett38 suggested. Cheers.

I use Windows Media Center for my connection and digital tracking. I'm wondering where exactly this program saves recorded material and what file format it uses. Is the footage playable on other media players (like if I move it to a flash drive to watch elsewhere), or if not, is there a way to convert the recordings into a more compatible format? Currently, everything I record works fine within Media Center itself.🤷
