Ever since I reinstalled Windows yesterday, I’ve been running into this issue. Every time I boot up the laptop and the OS loads, this error pops up:

Does anyone have a fix for this? It looks like some file, maybe rgjccsqp.dll, is missing.

From what I've heard, you can technically boot up Windows 7 with just 512MB of RAM, though that sounds a bit dubious to me—in my experience, it hits 800MB of usage almost immediately. It’s not an issue for me since I have 4GB, but still. As for FM 2010, I don't think it'll work; honestly, it's probably a total no-go. Regarding the Windows 7 requirement, people claim 512MB of RAM is enough, but has anyone actually verified that? Let's see if our resident expert here can confirm.

I wouldn't really recommend it if I were you. There's just not enough memory, so it probably won't run very well.
Maybe just grab this upgrade advisor for 7, and it'll give you the full rundown on what'll work and what won't.

Just install it and let the program do its thing.

I’ve actually tested this out on my sister's laptop with 512MB of RAM, and it works just fine.
Once you turn off Aero, the boot usage drops by about 350MB.
If you're running Firefox, MSN, the sidebar, and Avast all at once, you're looking at around 490MB used.
It's a bit of a squeeze—but honestly, it runs pretty smoothly.
That said, I’d still suggest having 768MB or even 1GB of RAM if you want things to feel really snappy.
I wouldn't say it's uncomfortable or anything, but yeah... it’s definitely not built for heavy multitasking.

So, why on earth am I being told I need 20 GB of free space just to upgrade over to Windows 7? I’ve only got about 10 GB left on my drive—it's tight, to say the least. Is there any way I can use a program to beef up my C: partition just long enough to pull off the upgrade, and then shrink it back down to its original size once everything is running smoothly?

If you have Partition Magic 8 Pro by Jack Docherty, you can expand the C partition by taking space from the D drive. 👍Just follow the instructions in the torrent.

I've installed Windows 7 a few times now without even using a key—just hit install and everything worked fine, fully activated...
Recently I did a clean reinstall of everything, and today I notice it's telling me I have "28 days until activation"... Help?!
Is this because I let automatic updates run? Did they push out some update specifically to shut down my non-genuine Windows?!

In case anyone cares, here’s another little experiment 😁 A rig from 2001:

image

Pentium 3 1Ghz
512MB PC133
40GB hard drive
GeForce MX400 64
FIC FA15T motherboard

I threw Tiny7 on it and it runs. It's not exactly a joy to use, but whatever. 🤣 The graphics card is being difficult since there aren't any drivers, but I managed to get it working by forcing an installation of the Windows XP drivers. The install wizard claims it's the wrong version of Windows and tries to abort, but if you just point the device manager to the folder where the wizard extracted everything, it works. Audio is the same story—everything functions once you force it to behave. 🙂

It isn't exactly comfortable to work on, though. 🤮

I've got a Lenovo R61i running Windows XP Professional
The specs are a 1.5 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. I don't know much about the rest of the components since I picked this up from a buddy who brought it over from Germany—it was basically brand new at the time, only two months old.
Does anyone here have experience with this setup? I'm trying to figure out if there's any way to get Windows 7 running on this thing or if the hardware would actually support Windows 7 at all.

I stripped it down to Tiny7 and it runs. It’s far from smooth, but what can you do? 🤣 The graphics card is a pain because there are no drivers, though I managed to force it by manually installing the ones meant for Windows XP (the install wizard complains about the OS version and quits, but if you point Device Manager to the folder where the wizard extracted everything, it works). Audio is the same story; it functions, but requires some manual coaxing. 🙂

Is it pleasant to use? Not exactly. 🤮

As long as it works... ☕ ☕ ☕ ☕

Just hop onto their website and check if they actually have drivers for Windows 7 available.

Does anyone know if this thing would handle Windows 7? Would it actually run okay?

Should be fine.

Does anyone here happen to know, or perhaps have experience with something similar, regarding how this machine would handle Windows 7? Specifically, would it support Windows 7?

If it works for them, it will work for you.😍

I mean, you can't really expect things to run flawlessly when you're messing around with an RC—it's a release candidate, after all, so bugs are practically part of the package. Just grab the final version instead.

Look, this has been working fine for me for a month now. I ran into the issue mentioned earlier, so I did a clean reinstall... As far as I know, this is the legitimate full version, downloaded straight from the university site they provide through Microsoft.

Well, you should probably check what it says in the bottom right corner of your desktop

yeah, lol—it says 7100 on your end, but the final build actually ends up being 7600 😬

I'm going to download the official final version now. This one was pulled before Windows 7 was even officially released...

Here it is: the full, original 64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional, complete with some sort of debug add-on already installed...
