Just do what we told you first, then if it actually works, feel free to play around with it later. 🙂

clearly you didn't even bother reading my post
where I specifically mentioned that the player was working fine for a while before it died on me

I'm not "experimenting," I'm asking for advice. If you're too lazy to answer, fine. Nobody's forcing you to talk.

I explicitly mentioned that this player worked fine for a specific period before acting up.
I'm not running experiments here; I'm asking for advice. If you don't feel like helping, there's no obligation to answer. No one is forcing you.

That’s exactly what I'm noticing—you ask for advice, but when people actually give it, you ignore it and just do things your own way anyway.
And look, it’s not that I don't want to help, it's just frustrating to see people trying to assist you when you clearly aren't interested in following their lead. Eventually, when someone truly needs help, nobody will bother responding because they'll assume it'll be the same situation: I'll tell you to just uninstall everything and reinstall the default version without touching any settings, but instead, you'll go through the uninstallation, click every single checkbox you see, and probably try to eat a hot dog at the same time—even though we all know .NET framework 3.5 isn't compatible with a hot dog topped with mustard...
Regardless, the subject at hand is Windows 7, not software glitches or subtitles.🙂

And look, it’s not that I hate answering questions, but it’s just frustrating seeing people try to help only to have it thrown back in their faces. If you keep this up, next time someone actually needs a hand, nobody’s gonna bother showing up because they'll assume it's just like dealing with you. It's like, I tell you to just uninstall everything and stick to the defaults without touching a single setting, but instead, you're gonna uninstall, click every single checkbox in sight, all while munching on a hot dog... and we all know .NET fw 3.5 isn't exactly compatible with a mustard-covered hot dog...
Anyway, the topic is Windows 7, not some random debate about hot dogs or Windows Media Player and subtitles.🙂

Alright, look, I asked for advice, I got advice from you and everyone else, and thanks for that. Don't worry, I'm not gonna go clicking every random box I see (I might have in the past, but not this time), and I really don't feel like getting into an argument about it.
Whatever, thanks anyway—I'm gonna go ahead and install it now.

And regarding the hot dog and the internet thing, I'm not even a fast food guy—just so you know, I'm an athlete.😁

So yeah, thanks again everyone.👍

Got everything dialed in now. I've finally got tiles showing up in Windows Media Player—you know, the one that comes pre-installed with the OS—which was exactly what I was aiming for in the first place.

👍👍👍

Thanks for the hand.

And hey, sorry if I came off a bit rude earlier or if I was asking dumb questions in this Windows 7 thread. My bad.

😁

Thanks for the help.

My apologies if I came off as rude or if I was asking the wrong questions here in the Windows 7 thread.

😁

That's great... glad to see our advice actually paying off for once. 🙂

My Windows 7 Ultimate installation is taking two and a half hours, while my buddy finishes in thirty minutes. Once it's done, everything is sluggish. Copying a CD takes forever, and games constantly stutter. Everything ran perfectly on Windows XP. Does anyone know how to stop Windows 7 from slowing down my computer?

It takes forever to copy a CD—like, ten times longer than it did on Windows XP—and my games keep stuttering. Everything ran fine on XP, so I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this so Windows 7 doesn't slow down my computer so much. I just want it to run normally again.

Maybe list your system specs? 🙂

I'm running a laptop

Intel Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 2.20GHz
2.0 GB RAM
- shared memory for HD3200 at 256MB

Windows 7 x86 absolutely flies on this thing—zero speed issues whatsoever... 👍

I mean, you probably have a hardware issue somewhere, but I guess the real question is what exactly isn't working right. 🤷

I honestly don't get it. A friend of mine has a much better setup than I do, and everything runs perfectly fine on his end. Someone please just help.

Does he also run the installation from that same DVD? Maybe try a different version instead.

I burned them from the exact same DVD. I tried using a different one, but it won't even start the installation.

Hey, what's up? So, I've run into a bit of a snag here. I just finished installing 64-bit Windows 7, but now my touchpad scrolling is completely dead—just totally unresponsive. Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to fix this?? Some people were telling me I should just sit tight and wait for an update to roll out, but honestly, that sounds like a headache. To make matters worse, my Bluetooth isn't working either. It's a Dell laptop, if that helps at all.

Maybe try disabling the Floppy drive in the BIOS (along with anything else related to it). I guess that might help.

If that doesn't work, you could try installing Windows 7 from a USB drive:

Just grab the drivers from the Dell website. Which specific model are you using?

I’m playing on this Dell XPS 17 right now, but honestly, I’m pretty lost—I haven't really got a clue where the actual download links are even located, and half the time I can't even get the installation to finish properly because I just can't find the files in the first place.🙏

You need to give me the full model number, the Dell XPS 17, you're missing two digits. Also, how much RAM does the laptop have?
