So, here they are—divided into five groups based on the "type" of accent. I've set the macros up to trigger alongside certain function keys, and honestly, people tend to pick it up incredibly fast. I realize there are other ways to produce some of these characters, but in my experience—and this is just how I've found it works best—it's much more intuitive to just use something like this.

There you go. My Venmo handle is... 😁

Unfortunately, no. Everything else works perfectly fine, but I just can't get it to work in F&R. If you've managed to get it running or know a trick to fix it, please let me know.

I just double-checked in Word 2003, and it works fine with Ctrl/B.

Look, the text itself isn't actually being bolded; instead, you'll see a little "Format: bold" indicator appearing underneath it.

Maybe try clicking through that extra options menu first and then give it another shot?

Thanks for the info, this is exactly what I was looking for! I have two more questions: does this work for other system commands (like Ctrl+I or U), and will it recognize custom shortcuts? For instance, if I set F10 to change colors to green or switch the font to Verdan, will it pick that up? Sorry to bug you, but I don't have Word 2003 installed and I don't want to go out and buy it if it won't work.

I'm not sure I follow what you're getting at. I can click through to see more options and adjust everything, but all those settings just reset every time I restart F&R.

It works for italics, underlining, bolding, and paragraph alignment—but as far as I can tell, it won't touch any user-assigned keys.

Kyle Johnson2 said:Give it a shot and see if that works. The Normal.dotm template is essentially the DNA of every document you create in Microsoft Office. It serves as the foundational blueprint, storing all those default settings—like your preferred fonts, paragraph spacing, and margins—that dictate how a blank page looks the moment you open it up. If you’ve ever found yourself constantly fighting against weird indentation or an annoying font choice every time you start a new project, the culprit is almost certainly sitting right there in your Normal.dotm file. I remember back when I was first getting into heavy technical writing, I spent an entire afternoon wondering why my formatting kept reverting to something outdated; it turned out my template had been corrupted by a buggy macro. Once I learned how to reset that specific file, everything smoothed out immediately. It’s one of those quiet, behind-the-scenes components that you don't think about until it stops working exactly the way you need it to. Try restarting your computer, then launch Word and see if that does the trick.

I can't seem to find it anywhere. It isn't showing up in my Program Files folder, so I'm at a bit of a loss on how to actually delete it. I'm running Windows 7. 😁

So, did you get into a fight with Google? Look, just buy them a coffee and apologize—I'm sure they'll be back on your good side in no time.

Hey everyone!
I’d be super grateful if someone could lend me a hand here. I’m struggling to nail down an Excel formula that takes a number, slashes it by 15% for a discount, and then immediately bumps it back up by the sales tax all in one go in the cell right next to it.
So, basically: I have my base price minus the discount plus tax (for example, if I start with 10... I need to end up with 10.46)

Thanks a million!

Check this out, might help you out

- Example of a full invoice in Excel

- Breakdown of how to calculate sales tax and discounts

Thanks, but I already checked there and didn't find anything... my situation is pretty specific because I'm just working with two cells—I have the base amount in the left one, and then in the right one, I need the final result from a whole bunch of different operations combined

I'm having a bit of a headache trying to email a PowerPoint presentation... Basically, I embedded a song into the slides, but whenever I send it over via email, the music just won't play on the other end. It's super annoying. Is there any way to get this to work without me having to manually create a folder, toss the song in next to the presentation, and then zip the whole thing up into a RAR file? I'd really rather not deal with that hassle if there's a better way. 🙂

If you’d actually looked at that second-to-last pic in the second link, you would've seen the formulas.
But honestly, why even do the math yourself? Let someone else handle the heavy lifting 👎

Let's say you have 10 in cell A1 and B1 needs to show 10.46
=A1-(A1*0.15)+((A1-(A1*0.15))*0.23)

Man, I totally messed up how I was using the parentheses. Anyway, thanks a ton for the help!!!

It works without them too...

FORMULA IN B1 =0.85*A1*1.23

Hannah Gomez5 said:you don't actually need the parentheses here

The formula in B1 would be 0.85*A1*1.23

Actually, you could just simplify the whole thing by combining those multipliers—B1=1.0455*A1

😁
