Jamie Phillips4 said:I finished installing Windows 7 last night and everything went pretty smoothly... except for a few drivers, specifically the mass controller and that MTP USB driver for my BlackBerry Curve. I managed to fix the first issue by digging through Google, but this MTP one is proving to be a real headache... I just can't find exactly what I need anywhere. Has anyone else run into this specific wall?
Also, my Device Manager is showing an "Unknown Device" under Other Devices... any idea what that might be referring to?
Overall, Windows 7 feels alright, though it feels a bit silly that they ditched Quick Launch—I'm really not a fan of how they handled the taskbar now—and they took out DreamScene too...

I ended up installing this on a beat-up Dell Inspiron. It’s got 512MB of RAM and an Intel Celeron, but surprisingly, it runs quite well... maybe even a bit snappier than my old Windows XP setup. Everything seems to launch pretty quickly enough.
One thing though—does AOL need to stay visible in the taskbar even after I hit the X? It really ought to just minimize down to the system tray in the bottom right corner, but it keeps hanging out in the taskbar instead. Is that just how it's designed to work?...
Peter Rodriguez8 said:Quick question. I finished installing Windows 7 yesterday and realized that all my old programs from my previous Windows XP setup are still sitting right there on the system partition alongside the new Windows files. Is it safe to just wipe them out? I'm getting some sort of warning saying it might cause issues, but honestly, I have no clue what that means. It feels pretty stupid to let 10 gigs of space go to waste for nothing. Thanks!

I tried burning it to a DVD at a slower speed—since I downloaded the ISO online like any decent American would—and I've tried every trick in the book, but it's always the same thing... right at 27%, it just hits that same error!!!
what to do people help!
