@ redangler2

Are you talking about this software? 🙄

Yeah, that's the one. I need it for my home internet. If anyone can point me to where exactly in Windows 7 I set this stuff up—like, how do I actually get it working? I can't find it anywhere, and I seriously need to be online.

Basically, there's no Authentication tab in the Local Area Connection Properties, and like I said, I can't find it anywhere else either.

Hey, Vicar. I’ve run into a weird little snag with my Windows 7 (32-bit) setup. It’s on a laptop running an Nvidia 9600 m gt, and every time I try to fire up a game, DirectX throws an error at me. I ran the Diagnostic Tool, but it didn't find anything, and when I try to update DirectX, it just tells me I’m already on the latest version. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any idea how to fix it?

I’ve had Windows 7 on my laptop for about a month now and honestly, it runs like a dream. I didn't even have to go hunting for individual drivers or anything; everything just worked right out of the box. It took maybe 20 minutes from start to finish to get everything set up... if you ask me, it's pretty much foolproof

Is it just one specific game, or does this happen with everything you try to play? If it's just one particular title, maybe try reinstalling it. When you run the installer, make sure to let it install the DirectX components from the game's disc too.

Hey everyone, does anyone actually know what the purpose of that Gadget CALENDAR is?

I mean, I honestly don't get it. It just sits there on the screen showing the date—and that's it? If I want to see the date, I'll just glance at the taskbar down below. Who is this even for?

I was under the impression you could actually log reminders, birthdays, and stuff like that... if that were the case, it might actually be useful, but as it stands, it feels totally pointless.

So, my question is: does anyone know if you can actually input reminders into that calendar, or if there’s some other specific GADGET out there that handles a reminder calendar?

Please don't suggest third-party apps for reminders because I already have those. I'm specifically wondering if there's a dedicated gadget for Windows 7 that supports reminders.

Thanks, and cheers

I thought maybe you could set reminders or birthdays... if that were the case, it would make sense, but right now it seems pretty useless.

Unfortunately, it's not a reminder tool, just a calendar. It shows the current date, or if you click it, it shows the whole month.

Well, that doesn't really serve much of a purpose then, does it?

I was looking at some Windows Live calendar stuff... could you take a closer look and see if there's any way to actually set a reminder...

I just don't get it... 😢

I guess that Windows gadget is just acting as your desktop calendar. 🙂
Windows Live calendar is an online thing, so I guess you have to be logged into Windows Live if you actually want the reminders to work.

Hey everyone, the full version of Windows 7 is finally out... I managed to grab my hands on it after a few days... obviously through unofficial channels... I'm not crazy enough to pay full price for it... ugh... what do you guys think? I'm seriously considering installing it on my laptop, which currently runs Vista... and let's just say... Vista is a total disaster.

What do you mean? It came out on October 22nd, which was almost a month ago. I guess you haven't really read the forum rules under section 2, so I wouldn't be surprised if they end up banning you for openly bragging about how you aren't crazy enough to pay for legal software. 🙂

I found some Outlook calendar... maybe you could take a look and see if you can figure out how the reminders work.

I don't get 😢

Found something that might actually help you out 🙂 A Google Calendar where you can set reminders.

whereas Outlook calendar is fully online—if you want those reminders to actually pop up, you've got to be logged into your Outlook account first.

I did... I set everything up over there, but now I'm stuck—I have no clue how to actually pull that calendar into the gadget itself...

😕 "his settings"?

I assume you mean within the program itself. Have you even bothered to look at the manual? 🙄

Did your "v" key break and now you're stuck using "w," or are you actually just typing like a five-year-old? 😬
