So, I’m running into a headache with a Microsoft site on what are otherwise perfectly functional Microsoft Windows systems... I'm using the Windows 7 Ultimate full version (unlicensed, if we're being honest, but let's not dwell on it). When I first slapped this OS onto my rig about a month ago, everything was running smoothly, except for one thing: MSN 9. It was acting incredibly sluggish—it would take upwards of 10 seconds just to pop open a chat window. After a couple of weeks, though, it seemingly fixed itself out of nowhere. Well, yesterday I decided to reinstall Windows because I managed to mess things up quite badly while gaming, and wouldn't you know it, MSN 9 is acting up again. Just to clarify, I'm running it on Windows 7 in compatibility mode for Windows 2000, since the system keeps insisting I download a newer version—which I have zero interest in doing, as I can't stand dealing with that nonsense... This time, the situation is slightly different: logging in works fine, there are no error messages, but the moment I try to actually start chatting or initiate contact with someone, the whole thing just freezes. My only recourse is to pull up Task Manager and kill the process manually. Does anyone have any advice? This is driving me absolutely insane. And before anyone asks, no, I am not installing MSN 14; it’s hideous, and I simply refuse to touch it.

After a couple of weeks, it seemed to fix itself though. Yesterday, I did a fresh install because I messed things up while tweaking settings, and now MSN 9 is acting up again. Just so you know, on Windows 7 I have to run it in compatibility mode for Windows 2000 (since they insist I download a newer version, which I don't want, and I couldn't deal with that idiot anyway)... right now, it signs in okay without any errors, but the second I try to actually start chatting or reach out to someone, the whole thing just freezes. My only option is to pull up Task Manager and kill the process... anyone got a tip? This is driving me nuts... and I really don't want the new MSN 14 because it looks ugly as hell, I just don't want it.

Seems like looks matter more than functionality to you, I guess.🙂
I assume Microsoft has their reasons for pushing everyone away from the old Messenger toward the new versions.

Maybe you'll find something helpful here

Ever since I set up Windows 7, my router keeps dropping the connection... I just get local access for like two or three minutes before everything starts working perfectly again, but then after a while, the whole damn thing happens all over again. Anyone else dealt with this kind of crap?

Just finished installing Windows 7, 64-bit,
Found the right driver for my card—an Nvidia 8400 GS,
My monitor is an Asus VW222
which worked perfectly back on Windows XP, but now everything looks—well, not everything, but most things—blurry. The desktop wallpaper looks crisp enough and programs are fine, but the text? Total blur. Tried messing with the settings and doing "clear type," but nothing helps. I've cycled through all the resolutions, and none of them feel right. For Freq, I'm stuck with 59; it offers 60, but as soon as I select it, it just snaps right back to 59. I'll try uploading a screenshot.
Any help would be appreciated.
Not sure if this is why the image quality sucks... it should be 1680x1050 http://img524.imageshack.us/i/mutno.jpg/

I've been looking at the screenshot, and honestly, I don't see any blurring at all.
So, you're telling me you didn't indulge in a few extra drinks every now and then?

So, I guess that’s the image I uploaded...
I already asked a few people on Messenger—they're saying the lettering looks fuzzy. Not sure why it looks perfectly clear on your end, though..
That kind of blurriness reminds me of what happens when you drop the Freq too low—it gets all... messy.

Will it just wipe my data, stop me from running any programs, or does nothing actually change once those 30 days are up?

Yeah, I'm stuck on the same question...

It’s going to start shutting down after about an hour of operation, and then it will just completely die on me.

I need some advice here,
I found Office 2010—supposedly compatible with Windows 7 64-bit,
but it's split into four massive .rar files, and inside each one, there’s just a bunch of smaller .rar archives. On my old XP machine, I’d just grab those four, extract them into a new folder, and call it a day—that's how I've always handled installs—but it isn't working this time. Every single one of the four .rar files is password protected, so maybe that's the issue? I do have the password, though.
Also, I'm trying to set up Nero 9 following the instructions, but the keygen is a dud... Maybe this isn't the right spot for this, but if anyone has ideas or knows a reliable site for basic software like this, let me know. As for that image, I have no idea how you guys can see anything clearly... here's another screenshot—some parts look totally "greasy"http://img121.imageshack.us/i/mansno.jpg/
I don't know why my screenshots are picking up this purple tint when the letters are actually blue.
Btw, I have to constantly zoom in on my browser just to read anything.

So, I’m looking at both the 19" and the 22" displays. Everything looks crystal clear to me.

Maybe you plugged the monitor into an analog port? If so, try hitting the Auto button on the monitor; maybe that fixes it. If not, I guess just switch over to DVI.

Everything’s exactly how it was before—didn't touch a thing...
I have no clue what kind of connection I'm actually using; my graphics settings just say "analog" in parentheses. Right now, there's a cable coming off my Dell Monitor with those two little thumbscrews. How do I switch over to the other type when I'm stuck with this one cable? (And yeah, this cable is hardwired into the monitor itself.) I've heard people talk about an "auto" setting, but mine doesn't have that option. Apparently, you're supposed to press the plus and minus buttons on the monitor at the same time, but nothing happens when I try it.
