Windows 7

Just wanted to add one more thing—I was actually pretty worried about whether I’d be able to get Daemon Tools running on Windows 7, and I couldn't quite make it work. Luckily, I stumbled upon UltraISO instead, and it's honestly great. Some people even say it's better than Daemon, but the main thing for me is that it handles all the virtual mounting just fine.

Windows 7 runs pretty smoothly. I might try jumping into something like Call of Duty 4 or CSS soon, but if everything stays lag-free, I guess I’m sticking with this setup. :P

Which beta did you end up downloading? I grabbed mine yesterday, and I’m thinking about moving it over to my older rig since it doesn't seem to eat through RAM quite as aggressively as Vista does... Are you seeing any issues with drivers? Any headaches at all?

I didn't even bother installing any drivers. Everything just works out of the box, except I did update my graphics card—using the Vista driver, which seems fine enough.

There's one massive headache, though: Steam isn't playing nice at all.😢🤷👎😕😠

Since it's still in beta, only the Ultimate version is currently available.
A few days ago, a "lite version" of Windows 7 Ultimate (around 1.2GB) also popped up.
It actually runs quite smoothly, even on some of my older hardware.

I'm running through the installation process right now, so I'll just get it up and running and see what the deal is with Microsoft Office 2007...

Well, what can I say?
So far, I’m satisfied. All my HW installed without a single hitch on the first try. It pulls down an update every day, and I’m starting to think this thing will actually hold up until the Final version is released, which means I won't have to deal with a fresh installation once Windows 7 is officially out.
In short, my humble opinion is that Microsoft has finally built something that actually works.

So, I think I heard on CNN earlier that they're holding a big conference tomorrow to officially unveil Windows 7.

I've switched over to Windows 7 as my Primary OS... finally said goodbye to Windows XP...😢 Everything seems fine, except for Daemon Tools and Outpost firewall... though as much as I liked Outpost, it was always pretty glitchy, even back on XP...

The only real complaint I have so far is that Windows still isn't free... 😁

In all seriousness, the main issue is that if you turn off User Account Control entirely, none of the gadgets will work...☕ As for games, I've only installed Call of Duty 4 so far, and everything runs smoothly—levels load at least twice as fast as they did on XP...☕

By the way, I'm running an AMD Athlon 3800, 1GB of RAM, and an Nvidia 7300 Le

Also, does anyone happen to have a better graphics card or some extra RAM they're looking to part with? 😬

Regarding the Account Control... did you actually activate it for the Week?

Certain options don't even become available until you've activated it 😉

I haven't activated Windows yet... I wonder if there's a legal way to do it, or if I should just look for a crack as soon as possible.😁

What kind of partition type do I need for Windows 7 to actually work? I used Acronis Disk Director—I've got Windows XP on my C: drive, which is set as Primary and Active, while I marked the other one as Primary and put the Week on it.
