Bryan Wood49, look, I’m not trying to be difficult, but I’ve already cycled through every single one of those serial numbers. No matter what code you throw at it, nothing activates Windows 7—not even that six-month trial period.

Head over to the Microsoft site and log into your MSN account (it’s easy, you just get a free email address) and use that password to access the Windows 7 download page. Now, here comes the best part: before you actually start downloading, you'll be given a product key. If you want more than one, I guess you can just refresh the page to grab another one.

You could probably just write the number down, or maybe printing out the page would be easier and last longer so you don't lose it—which I know happens a lot when your mom decides to clean your room instead of you doing it yourself.
You can find the starting point at www.pcmag.com under the tech section, and from there, just follow the links just like I am.
Have fun with that.
Oh, and if you're using Firefox, you might as well forget about downloading it; apparently, this specific download only works through Internet Explorer.

Listen, Morgan Moore37, I took the exact same approach. I downloaded six different serial keys and walked away with zero points to show for it. Every single one I tried gave me the same error message: activation expires in three days...

Honestly, I don't know why people mess around with stuff that isn't working... just get rid of 😁 and activate Windows, and then it's done...

So, anyone here actually jumped on the Windows 7 beta yet? I see that it looks like you can grab them straight from the Microsoft site, but I really don't feel like burning through my home broadband if the thing is a total dud. That's why I'm asking—has anyone actually installed it yet? What's the verdict?

In my humble opinion—you really ought to try it for yourself before making up your mind!

I’m on the same page as Bryan Wood49 and the rest of the group.
I installed build 6956 about three weeks ago, and honestly, I'm impressed. Every single driver works flawlessly. As far as raw speed goes, the OS feels right up there with Windows XP—which basically means it's twice as fast as Windows Vista.

If you're looking for some actual technical substance, you might want to head over to the Microsoft Technet site... though I suppose that depends on how much patience you have for their documentation style... With LiveID... just leave that Logan window open and then try opening the link in a completely new tab... The whole conversation seems to be circling around the limitations of 32-bit architecture, though I find the lack of technical depth in these discussions rather exhausting... I suppose I could offer a response, or perhaps just let the silence hang there... if that’s what we’re doing now... 64-bit architecture....
If you get that error message saying the page is having trouble loading, just keep hammering away at F5 like your life depends on it until the key finally pops up...

It finally went live for me today. Microsoft is claiming they’ll be distributing $2.5 million, so you might as well get moving and start clicking... 😉

It activated and fired up on the very first try. I didn't even bother refreshing the page once. It just spat out the key immediately, I typed it in, and voilà...

I have to admit, I’m feeling a little disoriented... it’s rare that things actually click for me on the very first attempt... 🤣

minimum specs for Windows 7 ???
just started downloading... just wondering if Windows 7 is gonna run on this rig
-Intel Dual Core 2.00GHz
-1.5 GB RAM
-512 MB graphics card

I mean, anyone can do it. That version of Windows is going to be way less demanding than Vista was... You can see the here... those are the
minimum specs you'll need to get it running.

what about the RAM though? it says 1 GB is the bare minimum but i've got 1.5 GB... am i gonna run into issues once i start throwing a bunch of programs at it?
