So, did the final version finally drop?
Sorry, I’ve been a bit out of the loop lately—college has been absolutely crushing me!

What you saw on TV was just a teaser for the beta release. That version happened to leak online before the official reveal. So, anyway—did anyone actually install Office 2007 yet?

By the way, the official final version should be out sometime after summer.

I installed it myself, and everything seems to be running fine... no issues so far, I guess.☕ As far as I'm concerned, aside from Windows XP, these are the best versions out there. I probably wouldn't touch Vista again if my life depended on it.

After trying a few different versions, I ended up rolling back to XP and just stayed there. Now that I’ve finally moved over to Windows 7, I guess I won't be looking back at XP or Vista anytime soon.

Does anyone happen to know of a decent firewall that actually works on Windows 7? I guess it's worth asking.

Microsoft Office 2007 runs without a single hitch. MSN Messenger works perfectly fine, and Opera is absolutely crushing it—page load speeds are noticeably faster... there’s a tiny bit of stuttering when switching between tabs during animations, but I'm certain that will be patched soon. It isn't some catastrophic bug; you barely even notice it...

The taskbar is a brilliant addition. It’s genuinely clever and, if I do say so myself, incredibly functional. I’ve been using it since day one and found it intuitive enough to get used to immediately...

Feel free to ask whatever you need to know, as I have everything pulled up right here. As for the firewall, I can't really help you there, since I don't bother using one...

Did that thing I sent you via DM actually work?

I ended up abandoning that whole process because I was working on my old machine... I’m going to attempt it again on the new one, though I honestly don't even understand 5% of the sequence required to get it done... These hackers really screwed us over, making things unnecessarily complicated instead of just keeping them simple...😠

The expected price is roughly $833

Honestly, at that point—it might actually be smarter to just grab a pre-built setup that already comes with Windows 7 included! 🤷 😉

Yeah, right... as if that's even a possibility.
Then you'd just have some random person asking how to swap out Windows 7 Business for XP instead.
And I suppose we're all expected to just find a copy of Windows 7 floating around on some sketchy corner of the internet, aren't we?

Man, maybe by then I'll have managed to... I don't know, pull some strings at college—if I actually get in—and figure out a way to score it for free, or at least for some ridiculously low amount. 🙂

I’m not sweating it. I’ll just get it sorted through the company. 🙂 🙂

Which track are you thinking about hitting?
I’m leaning towards either the fer or the fsb route, I guess.

Not sure where you guys are getting those Windows 7 prices from.

It can't be that high—unless we're talking about Ultimate—it’ll probably be similar to Vista depending on whether you grab Home, Premium, or Ultimate...

How does one actually snag an original key to activate the beta before it wraps up this summer? 😉

Log in to http://technet.microsoft.com/ using your Live ID. Keep that login window active, then open the link for the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version in a separate tab.
If you run into a page error, just keep frantically hitting F5 until a key finally pops up.

It worked for me today. Microsoft claims they’re handing out 2.5 million of them, so get moving and start clicking. 😉

Yay, thanks for the link. I messed around with the timing last night, but their site was a complete disaster, so I just gave up... It loaded perfectly on the first try this time.

Quick heads-up for anyone looking to test out Windows 7, make sure you grab the January 7th patch immediately to fix that bug. Watch out—it deletes random MP3 files from your hard drive. ☕
