I wouldn't touch Avast with a ten-foot pole...

Just install Avast Free instead. It actually performs quite well...

So I just grabbed 64-bit Windows, and now I'm wondering if this little E2180 thing is actually 64-bit? It's the processor... I think...

and they're telling me that Windows 7 won't run stuff from older versions of Windows.
Like it was built on a totally different architecture than the old ones???
Is it true I won't be able to install anything?? Or even drivers??

hmm... I wonder which firewall you guys ended up using. I tried running ZoneAlarm and Outpost together, but they didn't seem to clash...😠 😬

It runs everything you need perfectly, performing even better than Windows Vista, and you can easily install it on older hardware too—just let the philosophers deal with their own existential crises...

So, I just finished installing the beta (grabbed it straight from Microsoft) and man, this thing runs way faster and smoother than Windows Vista ever did!

I put in the Build 7000 light version, and memory usage sits at 380 MB. Even with a few small programs running, I’m only hitting 450 MB.

To me, this feels way more like Vista than anything resembling XP.

Drivers are solid; everything worked out of the box.

If you ask me, this is just Vista with some fancy new visual effects thrown in.

I’m not a fan of how they messed with all the standard stuff we’re already used to.

One thing I did notice, though, is that I’m missing the paste option in the right-click menu.

It’s not about what you’re actually doing; it’s about all the junk you've got installed.

Are you running some budget laptop that came pre-loaded with Windows Vista? If so, you’re probably dealing with a mountain of bloatware that serves zero purpose but eats up your RAM.

I went ahead and installed Avast Free 8 and it’s working fine—even Windows is actually suggesting Avast, Norton, or Kaspersky.

The thing is, I’m having some audio issues; I can hear it cutting out while playing stuff in Winamp. It's AC 97 audio, which installed automatically, but when I tried using the drivers from the motherboard CD, nothing happened—I barely managed to get out of there via Safe Mode.

How much space does it take up on the drive?

They were just as eager to recommend Internet Explorer 7, only to turn around later and admit nobody should be using it because of all the security vulnerabilities... 🤣

Just install Avast and ditch that AVG. You can clearly see it's just a free version for a reason... 😬
