Well, I mean, it’s probably not like every single cookie is broken, it's more likely just one of them is acting up—at least, that's how it played out for me once—so I guess you just really need to figure out which specific one is causing all the trouble 😉

Could I get a little help here?...
I have a question regarding drivers for Windows 7 x64...
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3-rev2
Since I was planning to burn a Windows 7 release, I went ahead and started downloading the drivers—but when I hit up the Gigabyte site for my specific board, the only thing listed was the audio driver (basically tailored for the version of the OS I selected).
So, now I'm wondering: are there actually drivers available for this motherboard that will run smoothly on Windows 7 x64???

Thanks!

Honestly, you probably won't need to mess with much besides getting your audio sorted out, because I've got the exact same motherboard and Windows 7 recognizes everything else just fine😉

I bought the whole setup from them—PC, monitor, printer, camera, gaming joystick, memory cards, the works. I've been a loyal customer for a long time, yet they still find a way to screw me over by trying to push this garbage memory card on me. Typical.😠😠😠 I'm done messing around with them. I've got a warranty, but I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to say. Do I just tell them the memory is screwing me over again and show them a Memtest86+ screenshot? Maybe. I guess we'll see. 🤔 And then those vultures will take my hardware back for "repairs," leaving me without it for a week or two, only to try and shove some faulty RAM back in my system again... I guess it’s just the way things go.🙄 I guess I'll head over there now. If they actually decide to mess with me next week, I'll finally see what they have to say about it.☕
Here they are... just a bunch of idiots. Check out this site: http://www.dipol.com/

Anyway, thanks for the advice...🙂😉

Like rustydriver23 said, you have to figure out which stick is actually bad. I guess the best way is to just leave one stick in there at a time and run MemTest. Pull one out, swap in another, and just cycle through them one by one until you find the dud. You probably need to let MemTest run at least two passes without any errors to be sure it’s fine. Ideally, you'd leave it running all night, but I don't think that's strictly necessary right now.

If you catch an intruder, just write down the serial number on that piece of junk and take it back under warranty. Once they return it, make sure to check the serial number. If it's the same one, it means they just shoved your broken part right back at you. If they actually give you a new one, just pop that specific unit into the machine and run MemTest.

Scenario 2: If every individual stick passes memtest, there’s still a chance that: a) they aren't compatible with each other, b) they don't play nice with the motherboard, or c) one of the slots on the board is just broken.

I have a feeling one bit is still going to fail the memtest. 😉

Hello.

I am considering making the switch to Windows 7, and I was wondering if transitioning from Windows XP is actually a sensible move.
I have read some reports suggesting there might be issues regarding driver recognition.🤷
Also, I assume the automatic shutdowns occurring every few hours seen in the RC version aren't an issue anymore?

What does the installation process entail? Is it handled similarly to Windows XP, or is there a different method required?

Finally, is this link the correct one?

What transition? Windows 7 isn't even finished yet; this is just for testing purposes 😉

I plan on testing it a few days before the deadline hits.

Just let me know if it's actually safe to install Windows 7.

I installed Windows 7 on my PC today. Everything seems fine, except for one little detail: the machine just shuts itself down every two or three hours. I need some guidance on how to adjust the power options so neither the monitor nor the hard drive—let alone the computer itself—ever goes to sleep. I thought I configured everything correctly, but perhaps I should consult those who actually understand these settings?
If it isn't a configuration issue, what else could be causing this? Any ideas on a fix?

Thanks a lot........

The catch is that the computer just shuts itself down completely every 2 or 3 hours... I honestly think I set everything up correctly, but I’d love to double-check with the experts here who actually know their way around these settings!
If it turns out to not be those specific settings, please let me know what else you think might be causing this and how I can fix it!

Thanks so much everyone........

Yes, which build are you running?
Here, I've copied this from the Microsoft page regarding the Windows 7 RC:
The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010.

Thanks so much!!!
Does anyone know if there's an activation method floating around online for Windows 7 (the RTM version)? Also—just out of curiosity—does this specific version actually expire or shut down after a certain period?🙄
Hey there! Good to see everyone.

Does anyone know where I can find an activator for Windows 7, specifically the 7600 (RTM) build, online? Also—does this version actually expire or shut down on you?🙄
Hey there!

That specific build shouldn't be shutting down on you—since it's the finalized RTM release, it's essentially the retail-ready version meant for everyone to use without those pesky expiration issues.

Windows 7 is where it's at. I've been running it on two different machines for a few months now (beta version, obviously), and honestly, Vista is complete garbage.
As for XP, man, it's like being a kid again—everything was just easy and carefree back then, and I didn't have a single worry in the world.
Everyone manages to get by how they can, but if you can find a way to snag Windows 7 (ideally for free, legally, haha), do it. Otherwise, just grab some free Linux.
Btw, what even is Internet Explorer? A pacifier for babies?

I'm running Windows 7 and now my PC keeps shutting down more and more often... first it was every 3 hours, now it's every 2 hours
I get that the Windows support is expiring, but I have no clue what to do until the final version comes out in October because my Windows just keeps crashing constantly!
any ideas?🤷

If you have an MSN account, just grab the new W7 beta that works until June 1st, 2010. Otherwise, this situation is just gonna keep getting worse and worse.🤷☕🙏

I can find price lists online for Vista to 7, but nothing for going from XP to 7.

You can't just jump from XP to Windows 7; you'd have to go XP to Vista to Windows 7 first, I guess.
Honestly, you're better off just doing a fresh install of Windows 7 and using some data transfer tool to move your files over to the new PC.☕

On my laptop with 512 MB, Windows 7 actually ran better than XP, though I guess the issue could be the graphics—if your GPU is weak, you won't have Aero.🙏
