Old man Kimi didn't even finish in the points, so I don't see what there is to penalize him for.

Hamilton went wide just so you wouldn't have him, Kimi, and Rosberg all sliding into the grass at once—basically an overtake under yellow, or maybe just some weird stroke of luck for Kimi, though I can't help but wonder if things would've gone differently if the roles were reversed...

It’s a similar situation, really, though I can't help but wonder if Lewis was actually a mistake—not that I'm certain, but he probably would have been an easy target regardless. It’s just us, I guess, speculating on how wired they all must have been in that moment, so you can't honestly fault either one of them for how things went down...

Man, you're totally missing the point here...

placidsurfer9 said:exactly... there are a million cases just like this where nothing happens, they just dodge the penalty and leave wrecked cars all over the track... but this one is different. If Kovalainen didn't make a mistake, then he clipped that wheel and the guy spun out... honestly, the penalty was well-deserved. 😁

I don't know what those idiots up there were thinking... they must have been on stimulants today given how worked up they are.

And what on earth are they planning for Monza? 😬

since there isn't anyone on Kimi's shoulder, he's the one picking the line...
if this were a track like Monaco, Hamilton would have just cut the corner or hit the wall
to shorten the distance right behind Kimi... pretty stupid...
...but the kid is smirking at the press conference like he just won the lottery... such a snake...

SO MUCH

Another fan for The Frenchman
don't really care

we're talking about whether Hamilton is to blame here

and he clearly messed up because he went in way too aggressive
you can see the lockup on the other angle

People can argue about that corner all they want, but Hamilton messed up the one right before it.

He didn't brake hard enough and cut the chicane short.

Since there isn't anyone sitting on Kimi's shoulder, he's the one picking the line.
If this were a track like Monaco, where Hamilton would have just cut the corner or slammed into the wall to get ahead of Kimi...
cutting the track just to jump him? It's ridiculous.
And the kid is just sitting there smirking at the press conference like he's heard a joke. He's pretty slimy.

I don't get it, and you can kill me for saying it. Is there actually a rule saying you have to let him pass if you cut the corner? Did Hamilton really need to let Kimi go? Does the rulebook say he has to give him space by one meter, a hundred meters, or an entire mile?☕

The penalty is just plain stupid.☕

he’s gotta miss it because of how long the car is, he didn't build it himself

watch the clip of Lewis Hamilton, then go see how drivers actually handle it normally

Alright, look, maybe things got a little messy out there, and honestly, Kimi didn't leave him much of a choice when it came to cutting that chicane. But stripping a win away after the race is over—after the podium celebrations and all the hype—is just straight-up disrespectful. He could've easily slapped him with a fine, just like they did to Max Verstappen last time. But clearly, NASCAR and that "nazi" Max Mosley had the winner picked out before the green flag even dropped.

Exactly—they just need to file an appeal... Honestly, the sheer audacity of this Formula 1 decision is ridiculous—they could have easily penalized Sergio Perez in Miami too!😠

Agreed... and where exactly does it state you have to give up a car length? Besides, in the end, it ended up being a car length anyway!

He needs to give him the spot right after the chicane, not at the next turn once he's already settled into the line

He’s gotta pass him immediately, not just drive side-by-side for several seconds...

He’d be better off giving him a millimeter of breathing room and just saying "let him pass"... then we could see what those infrared or thermal cameras actually pick up

They might as well hand out a lifetime achievement award to the folks at NASCAR, because honestly, the level of chaos they manage to stir up probably doesn't exist in any other sport on the planet.👍

It honestly would’ve been better if they just let him run the full lap, here's the footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74TZngbIS9I
