Old-Timer🙂 The only thing here even remotely worth selling would be the RAM; new DDR2 is still pricey, so I think you might get maybe $50 something for the 2 GB. As for everything else—I don't know, maybe $67, MAYBE, if anyone actually wants to buy it at all. 🙂And yeah, the graphics are integrated, you don't have a dedicated 🙂

What would this even go for if I tried to sell it today?
CPU: Intel Core i5
MBO: ASrock p67 Pro3 B3
GPU: MSI GTX 560TI TwinFrozr II
HDD: Samsung Hard Drive
CASE: Coolermaster Elite 335
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600mhz
PSU: Seasonic 520w SS-520GB
Cooler: Cooler Master Mugen
I also have some random deal on an LG
Monitor: Samsung Monitor 21.5inch

I really want to pick up a new beast, but there’s a catch. I want to wait for the new Nvidia 800 series cards and those new processors paired with DDR4 RAM. I see they've already hit the market, but I assume more will drop soon and prices might dip in a few months. So now I'm stuck in this dilemma. Do I wait to sell this rig until all the shiny new tech is out? If I do that, my resale value is definitely going to tank. Or do I just sell it now and be left without a PC for a while? That's honestly unthinkable to me 🙂. My budget will probably be around $150. I'm also debating whether I should just grab a powerful gaming laptop instead. I don't know. What would you guys recommend if you were in my shoes?😠

Wait, you’re actually seriously considering buying an Intel Core i7 just for gaming?!? Good luck with that—prices aren't going to drop anytime soon since those are Intel’s flagship models, and there’s zero wiggle room on the cost. Besides, some "beast" gaming laptop priced at $2,000 is barely going to outperform the desktop rig you’re running right now.

🤣

James Fisher11, you’re talking absolute nonsense. If you actually want better gaming performance, just swap out your graphics card...
Throw in an SSD while you're at it and you're good to go.

Exactly—you’ve already got a solid CPU and motherboard combo. If I were in your shoes and had the extra cash lying around, I'd probably grab a GTX 970 when it drops, or maybe even push for a GTX 980—though I'm honestly not sure if your processor would end up bottlenecking you without some serious overclocking if you went with the 980. Also, definitely look into an SSD, whether you go with Samsung Evo or something from Intel... you can usually find them for under $200 🙂. That single upgrade would give your rig a massive boost.

The x99 chipset uses DDR4 RAM (for the most part)... And regarding what Benjamin King2 mentioned about the laptop, I'm 110% with him on that.

So, an upgrade is clearly the best way to go here... No point in me starting a whole new thread just to list everything I need and letting our local hardware nerds overthink it all. 😛
On another note, what do you think I could get for my cooler, case, and hard drive?

The only thing worth selling here is the GPU.

Selling the hard drive just isn't worth the hassle. Besides, you don't even need it. I highly doubt you've got 500GB of games, music, or movies piled up to make it feel small.

I can barely hit 100GB myself, let alone 500.

Kate Baker79 said:Benjamin King2, any chance you could give me a ballpark estimate on this setup? Thanks.

Honestly, I have no clue who’d actually drop cash on this—we’re talking about a weak single-core processor here, and if you check Craigslist, you'll find tons of junk just like it everywhere. You might be able to squeeze maybe $40 for the RAM and maybe $50 for the hard drive, but the rest? Just take it to the scrap yard.

The Intel Core i5 750 is a solid processor, but let's be honest—it’s four years old now. That means the warranty has long since expired, and it's really the same story for the motherboard, the graphics card, and most of the other components. Maybe the power supply and the hard drive are relatively new and still covered, but you can't count on much else...

EDIT: Oh, wait—I just noticed they're throwing in a monitor too. In that case, I'd probably set the price somewhere between $250 and $867.

If $200 managed to score that deal—assuming the case and power supply are included and you aren't trying to offload an original Windows 7 CD—you could actually be pretty happy with the outcome.
