Something similar to yours could probably be put together for $1167, maybe even a bit more. $833 would be a decent starting point, depending on what kind of warranty you get.

I'm guessing this is just for some casual gaming? If I were you, I'd probably go with this one:

http://www.craigslist.org/vi/pc-computers/r...listing-16518197

That one with the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 seems alright too, but they didn't even mention what kind of GPU is inside.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d probably lean toward something like this, mostly just because you're getting much more recent components for your money.

I guess he’s aiming for Indianapolis and the handoff 😉

Well, I just realized every single one of these listings is coming out of Indianapolis, but hey, what can you do? 😬

Yeah, having the option to meet up in Indianapolis or the surrounding areas is definitely a huge plus 😁

That build with the E8400 seems decent enough, though they didn't mention what kind of GPU is tucked away inside.

It doesn't strictly have to be a gaming rig, honestly; most of the time it'll just be for browsing the web and general stuff, maybe throwing a light game on here and there...

Older or newer game? I guess if there's anything recent available, I'd look at that, maybe something on a DDR3 platform so you can just swap in a better processor later and whatever else you want

I'm mostly looking at some older games...

The one with the E8400 actually runs fine without a dedicated graphics card, or so I heard when I called to check.

Do you think it’s worth grabbing that other setup you mentioned?? (That Athlon ii X2 2900, 4Gb RAM, 2Gb GPU, 320Gb hard drive)

It’s actually a GTX 550 Ti, not a 2GB card.😬 That works too, like we discussed... maybe just see if you can shave a bit off the price.

EDIT: Or you could try mixing things up—pair a modern platform with some used parts:

Hey guys, can I get a quick reality check on this? I’m definitely keeping the hard drive and the RAM. Also, just so you know, the power supply is a Thermaltake ATX12V.

It's in mint condition—what would you say this is worth right now?

Hey everyone, I haven't unloaded my old junk yet, so what's this worth?

An old motherboard with 4GB DDR2, an Intel Core i5, a 500GB HDD, an AMD Radeon R7 260X with 2GB GDDR5, and a Samsung SyncMaster P2250 monitor.

Thanks

Hey everyone, I'm back because I could really use your expertise again!

Basically, I’m looking to finally ditch this old junker. I originally picked up this rig back in 2011, and honestly, the cooler is getting pretty noisy 😉. The GPU is also pretty much on its last legs—it can still pull through if I stick to medium or low settings, though.

Here’s the breakdown of what's inside:

1X MBO LGA 1151 AS M5A87
1X AMD Ryzen 3, LGA 1151, 3000 MHz, 2MB L2 cache, 2000 MHZ BUS
1X VGA VTX HD6750 1GB DDR5
1X MEM DDR3 6GB 1600Mhz(3x2) HyperX KIN
1X Caviar Blue 5000AAKX, 500GB, SATA3, 16MB, 3.5'', 7,200 rpm
1X ODD DRW SM SH-S222AB SATA Bulk Black
1X ACHILLES MIDI TOWER ATX mATX 400W

Any idea what kind of cash I might get for this? Thanks in advance for the help! 🙂

You could probably set $500 as the starting point. Honestly, I'd say it’s worth at least a couple hundred bucks less.
