Eric Wilson75 said:The PC is currently sitting in my kid's room (read: a teenager's room).

I managed to get the mouse and keyboard, but no speakers. Everything for $500.
The monitor is a Dell Monitor. It's a 19-inch model.
The processor is an Intel Core i3 2120 CPU at 3.30 GHz.
Graphics card is a GeForce GTX 650 and there is 4 GB of RAM.
It matches everything he listed.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Now I need to put in some work on it.
By the way, the computer comes from a small town in the Midwest near Indianapolis. The kid is moving to Germany this Friday.
There are four others like him. Actually, everyone left ☕.

You got a great deal. That’s actually a newer generation i3 processor, which is solid; you could even play some games on it! 👍 No worries, you likely have one stick of 4GB, so you can just upgrade to 8GB later.

It’s not exactly like this is some cutting-edge i3 processor—it’s actually been around since 2011...

True, but honestly, the performance jump from Skylake was negligible; Intel hasn't really moved the needle much since then.

For $500 that price, it's a solid deal.

Heh, I wouldn't say that... The Skylake i3 actually clocks about 400-500MHz higher and sees a 20% IPC jump over those four generations. That i3 motherboard alone is worth maybe 300-$117. If we were talking about an i5 with matching clock speeds, then that rule might actually apply.

Anyway, it’s a decent deal, but nothing to write home about.

Well, let's hope it works out 😁. My son just picked up another 8 GB of RAM for his Hristo Stoichkov setup. Now he's running strictly with those 8 gigs alone.
He claims they taught him in his computer science class that (to make a long story short) mixing an 8 GB stick with a 4 GB stick isn't ideal or is basically pointless.
Should I tell him to stick with the 8+4 GB combo, or is he actually onto something here?

Maybe this is a bit off-topic if I keep going.

8GB is overkill 🙂, though if you really want to, you could always toss in those extra 4GB to make it work; then you'd be sitting at 12GB.

I am simply curious as to where he managed to find 8GB for $33.

Maybe around 1800$633 as a bare minimum

You’ll probably find plenty of people interested in just the motherboard without the rest of the build. A fair price might be somewhere around $133 (since the socket was discontinued way too early), but you might even be able to squeeze out

I guess even $200 would be okay with an 😁 motherboard

Hey there,
I’m looking for a little help figuring out what I should ask for my old monitor. I really want to sell it, but since I’m pretty much clueless when it comes to tech stuff, I don't want to price it way too high—though, if I'm being honest, I'd love to make a decent little profit if possible. It's a Dell Monitor.
I picked it up back in 2009 and it's honestly still in amazing shape; it's never given me any trouble, and it's barely even been used over the last three years because we've mostly just been using our laptops instead of a desktop setup.

Any advice or info you guys could throw my way would be super appreciated 👍

Greetings.

Yesterday, I happened upon a collection of long-forgotten components that had been gathering dust in a corner ever since my last upgrade. Now, I am under no illusions regarding their relevance in today's market—I know they are ancient, truly prehistoric by modern standards—but I find myself wondering if there is even a shred of value left in them. Is it actually worth the effort to try and offload this lot to someone else?

Motherboard: AsRock N68C-S UCC
Processor: X2 dual Core Processor be 2300
RAM: DDR2 4GB
CRT Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 793 DF

Honestly, just list it for 200 bucks--$100 just enough to get something back...
