Hey everyone. What’s your take on these builds? Are the prices actually fair, or are they totally inflated? Is there anything here worth picking up if I have about 3k to spend?

Take a look at PlayToWin's profile over on Facebook Marketplace www.letgo.hr/profile/139556

They aren't bad deals actually, because for 3k, the best you can usually find new is an RX560 and some Ryzen 1200, and that's without even including an SSD. If you still get the receipts and the warranty like the ad claims, I'd say it's a solid deal.

Just try to negotiate the price down, obviously 😉

Here's what I'm working with:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3

CPU: Athlon 64 x2 4000+ 2.1GHz

RAM: DDR2 400 Samsung 4GB

GPU: Gainward GeForce 210 1GB DDR3

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 250GB

Power Supply: LC Power 420w

DVD Burner

Windows 10 Enterprise

Case: No clue who made it, but it's huge. It's definitely not mini or midi. I don't even know what's bigger than midi... maybe a maxi? :-))

Thanks in advance!

No way, man, that’s easily over a 100% jump if you factor in the crate Joe's got 🤣

I'm shopping for a new PC these days and spotted four options on Craigslist. I'd love some advice on which one would be the best pick. My plan is to upgrade to a new processor on one of these builds after a little while.

They're all pretty much in the same ballpark. Difference is, the ones with newer CPUs use DDR4 RAM. If you ever decide to swap platforms later, keeping that RAM helps, though you probably won't be swapping the motherboard when you buy the build anyway.

The issue is none of these are cheap enough to justify building something similar from scratch—maybe a new build with slightly budget components like the PSU, but performance-wise, it's the same story.

So, if I were picking between them, I'd just go for whichever one allows me to haggle the price down the most.

That said, for these prices? I'd take the one with the AMD Ryzen. You get a platform with an actual upgrade path, whereas the others leave you stuck. Plus, it has the GTX 1080; the rest have similar or worse cards.

P.S.

The i5 6600 one is the worst deal here. Avoid it.

Definitely going with Core, especially if you're thinking about future upgrades later on.

Hey there,

It’s finally time for me to upgrade to a beefier machine, which means this one has to go.
Robert Rodriguez2 built this konfa for me, and I’ve gotta say, it’s been a rock. It works great.
I’m looking to get $850 for the whole setup.
I picked this rig up back on November 14, 2016, at Futura-IT, so it's still under warranty. I’ll be handing over the receipt along with all the original boxes from Futura-IT. This computer has been treated with respect—kept clean, dust-free, and used strictly for web design work. I originally paid about $800 for it.

Specs:
1. Intel i5-6400, Skylake, S.1151
36mo warranty.
2. Kingmax 1x8GB DDR4 2133 x 2 (16GB)
60mo warranty.
3. B150M-MORTAR MSI B150M Mortar, S.1151
36mo warranty.
4. Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB, HIGH PERF.
24mo warranty.
5. fsp-nap-hyp-5 EVGA 500 W, 80+
60mo warranty.
6. ZAL-ZM-Z1 Cooler Master Z1, MidiTower
MidiTower warranty 12 mo
7. RX-470P4LFB6 XFX RADEON RX 470 RS 4GB
36mo warranty.
8. 0140728 Adata 128GB SU800 SATA 3D Nand
36mo warranty.
LG GH24NSD1 DVD RW sata

One heads-up: I’m going to swap out the SSD and the HDD for brand-new ones before the sale. I have a ton of private data on those drives—everything from banking info to... well, you know. Since I've read enough online to know that anyone with half a brain can recover deleted files, I’d rather just give the buyer fresh drives to ensure total privacy.

What do you think is a fair price for this rig?

Thanks!

If you ask me, the price you're looking at just isn't worth it. I'd rather put that money toward a brand new 1660ti and a larger SSD.

And let's be real—in two years, it'll be worth even less than it is now.
I'm trying to figure out what kind of cash I could actually pull for my current konfa.
If I jump to an i7, I’m looking at swapping out the GPU and the cooling system too... which means selling off the old CPU and the old card. Either way, it feels like a losing game; you never walk away with anywhere near what you originally paid when buying everything brand new.

I'd just swap the platform. Sell the board and processor... everything else stays. Maybe jump to an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 + a matching board + another 8GB of RAM, assuming your GPU still cuts it.
Even a Ryzen 7 2700 wouldn't be bad.
Intel is a bad deal right now.

That’s exactly what I’d do—stick with the Ryzen 2700, grab another 8GB of RAM, and then just pick up whatever GPU fits the budget when the time comes.

Look, you just wipe the drives before you sell them and then you don't have to worry about your data being out there somewhere.

I’d suggest just selling off the 128 GB SSD and keeping the 1 TB HDD for yourself. 😉
