Hey there,

I need some help getting an honest opinion on this rig:

Motherboard: MSI B75MA-E31 s1155
CPU: i5-3350P 3.1 GHz 1155
HDD: Samsung 500 GB SATA2 16 Mb F3 7200 rpm
RAM: DDR3 1x8 GB Kingston 1600 HX CL10
PSU: XFX 450W
Case: Zalman Z3 Plus mid tower case
DVD/RW: Samsung DVD-RW SH-224DB SATA
GPU: Sapphire RX550 puls 4 GB GDDR5 - less than a year old, still got the receipt and a valid warranty
Original DVD with Windows 8.1 x64 Warcraft II license
Warcraft III RoC original, comes with the box and manuals😁

I should probably mention that the motherboard is acting up a bit—two of the USB ports on the back lose connection every now and then. Just a heads up.

Around $800-$500, though it really depends on who you talk to and if they actually bother pointing out those motherboard issues.

You could probably score better specs for that price.

Motherboard + CPU + RAM $267
Hard drive $33
Power supply $33
Case and DVD drive $33
RX550 $83

Look, I’m gonna be straight with you about the issues because I think it's important to point them out. I don't want to beat around the bush or play games here.

Thanks again 🙂

Hey everyone, I was wondering what kind of cash I could realistically pull for this setup

Nothing left on warranty except for the SSD, which I picked up at Best Buy back in late 2017.

So, here’s the breakdown:

Intel Core i7-3930k paired with an EKL cooler
ASUS Rampage IV Formula X79
Crucial 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz
Storage: Hitachi 7200 RPM 500GB HDD | Samsung 850Evo 250GB SSD
MSI Gaming GeForce 1060 3GB OC @ Accelero Mono Plus | 2101MHz/4608MHz (no warranty, but I still have the original shroud)
Fortron 600W
Zalman Z3 black case

I'm looking for a realistic price tag.

I’d say somewhere between $3,000 and $4,000, excluding the SSD. But hey, go ahead and try to haggle.

The case should go for about $250. If you check Best Buy, you can probably pick up a brand new one for around $350.
Power supplies are looking at $300-$350. Honestly, if you head over to Best Buy, for $140 you can snag some really solid 500W units.
If you manage to get $450 for the RAM, consider yourself lucky. You can always find a single 1x8 GB DDR3 stick for $67 whenever you need it.
For the GPU, $600 is top tier. Nobody is really looking for those custom coolers anyway, and you can definitely find a GTX 1060 for $300 even with a bit of wear and tear, especially an MSI Gaming model.
Don't go over $150 for the HDD. $100 You can grab a brand new 1TB drive at Best Buy.

As for the motherboard and processor, I'm a bit skeptical about who's going to bite on those. It's a powerful chip, but that specific socket... yeah, good luck with that. xD

Edit:

If I were in your shoes, I’d sell this off piece by piece. I would hold out for the best possible offer on the CPU and motherboard since that combo is pretty rare and quite beefy. You could make a killing there, but you could also end up losing out if you aren't careful.

Everything else is pretty much standard market pricing.

That’s what I was thinking too, somewhere in the ballpark of 3000. Thanks, everyone.

It looks like the Intel Xeon E5-2667v2 is going to drop in price, and the NVIDIA GTX 1080 will probably follow suit later on.

A Xeon?

It’s a solid setup depending on what you're actually doing, but honestly, there's no real reason to swap out the CPU.

Looking at a budget around $200. I'm hunting for an 8-core/16-thread setup in the same ballpark as a stock AMD Ryzen 7 1800X. My daily grind involves programming and video editing, with some casual gaming thrown in here and there to unwind.

The motherboard is actually where the biggest headache lies, not the processor. If the motherboard decides to quit on you, you're definitely going to have a bad time. 😉

Eventually, we’ll make the jump over to Ryzen 😁 But until then, I guess we just have to let this thing limp along for as long as it actually lasts 🙂

I honestly think that, in theory, X79 motherboards should be getting incredibly hard to find by now. If one of them finally gives up the ghost, I wouldn't be surprised if someone tries to charge you $500 a premium just for the board itself. 😉

Personally, I’d rather just wait until it actually dies—and once it does, I'm jumping straight over to a Ryzen build.

I’ve got an old computer sitting around. Is it actually still usable, or am I better off just donating it or tossing it in the trash?

Haha, you might as well have just taken a picture of a trash can instead of a monitor 😁.

I’ve got an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, an ASRock 970 Extreme4 motherboard, a Corsair A70 cooler, and 2x2 GB of 1333MHz RAM up for grabs.
Can anyone give me a realistic idea of what kind of cash I might get for this setup?

I picked up a new rig at Best Buy back in ADM 5. Mj 2019, but let’s face it—life happened and I simply don't have the hours in the day to actually sit down and play anymore. So, I'm weighing my options. If I were to offload this machine, what kind of realistic figure could I expect to pull for it?
Thanks.

Where’s actually worth posting an ad if I want to find a real buyer? I’ve been scrolling through Craigslist, but the hardware listed there is honestly pathetic. I’m looking for something decent, and frankly, I’d prefer an in-person meetup just to ensure nobody gets scammed.
