Justin Hernandez6 said:No, no, I was actually referring to glutamine. Since slytrucker47 told me you have to take massive amounts to see any real results, I was wondering if 5g post-workout and 10g before bed would cut it. As for Whey, I already get the gist.

Well man, if you were hoping I meant Whey, then too bad. I was talking about glutamine, considering that's what we were discussing.😉>

If I understood that correctly, we're talking about a 1.5-hour workout? That’s far too long—you're getting old. Cut it down to 45 minutes to an hour. Also, just take 30-50g of Whey and 60-80g of glucose.

Yeah, exactly—after about ninety minutes of hitting the weights
Thanks, slytrucker47, I appreciate it.

It seems there are some follow-up questions here—plus, the site under this heading 🙂
is a bit of a mess.

I've got a question:
is a 1:1 ratio of Whey and glucose enough, or do I really need to hit that 2:1 mark for the glucose?
My workouts aren't exactly high-intensity—nothing crazy—but I still feel like I should be taking something post-training.

You could probably get away with less glucose, honestly. It’s usually denser than Whey anyway, so one scoop of glucose ends up weighing more than a single scoop of Whey.

So, I’m doing two level scoops of Whey in about 12 ounces of water, and then adding one level scoop of glucose to that, right?
btw I picked up that stuff you mentioned at the drugstore🙂

No, keep it even. Whatever amount of Whey you're using, match it with the same amount of glucose. You want to hit those volumetric targets, obviously.

By volume? You mean you're talking about those cheap knockoffs?

I honestly never get you.😁

I honestly can never follow your train of thought.😁

Yeah, I meant scoops. I only said that so you wouldn't go trying to weigh everything out on a scale and end up using the exact same amount by mistake.🙂

So, what happens if I go with roughly 45 grams of protein alongside 90 grams of glucose? Does that still hold up as a 1:2 ratio, or is that much glucose even necessary—especially since it’s so intense that my throat actually stings from the sweetness after I drink it?

Maybe try upping the water intake a bit... and honestly, you don't necessarily have to stick to that strict 1:2 glucose ratio. It doesn't have to be that rigid.

So, I have a question. Since I've been training for rowing, I was advised to take protein after my workouts to help with muscle recovery. I've also heard that it might help reduce body fat and actually boost my metabolism, making me burn more calories during daily activities.
Is that actually true? And is there any chance I'll end up looking "bulky" just from taking protein?

I saw a video where someone was making a shake using two scoops of protein, some water, and a frozen banana. What are your thoughts on that combo?

It's true.

Could I accidentally get too bulky from just taking protein?

You won't suddenly turn into a bodybuilder. Rowing will naturally build some muscle, and the protein just speeds up that recovery process. Building mass doesn't happen overnight, and you'll gain muscle whether you use protein supplements or not.

A banana isn't really necessary after a workout.

Ethan Garcia8 said:That's accurate.

If you want to pack on size, rowing will definitely help you build some mass, and protein will simply optimize that process by cutting down your recovery time. However, let's be realistic—building muscle doesn't happen overnight. You're going to gain weight regardless of whether you use protein supplements or not.

A banana is pretty useless after a workout.

What do you mean by "useless"?

I’ve got a banana ready to shake up into this protein shake. Quick question though—should I be mixing these proteins with some glucose, or is that totally unnecessary? I think I saw someone mention it on a forum once.
Also, can I just pick these up at a local DM?
One more thing—I should just stick to the serving instructions on the back of the tub, right?
And am I just supposed to have this after my workout? Like, would this count as my last meal, maybe my 6th meal of the day, or does it not really count toward my total? I'm asking because I have training tomorrow.

Just shoot me a DM if you want to grab some glucose and protein right from the gym

At which gym? You think mine carries that stuff? In my place, the tap water barely runs and the only heating we get in the winter is body heat.

Is that glucose actually necessary, though?
