coppersailor57 said:Whey protein absorbs into your muscles incredibly fast. Itโ€™s a fantastic tool for packing on mass and repairing tissue by building up layers of new muscle after every session at the Gym. All of that is wonderful, trulyโ€”it really is. But just take a look at the sweeteners they pack into these things, starting with Aspartame, then Glutamine, and MSG. You can easily look it up online or ask any doctor about those compounds... I won't even go into the list of colorful toxins they've manufactured from them, or how your brain ends up completely fried after using whey protein for too long.!

My dear Doctor, ๐Ÿ™„
you are talking nonsense here...
-Aspartame is a sweetener found in everything from chewing gum to millions of other products; it's perfectly natural for it to be present in small, harmless amounts.
-Glutamine is simply a non-essential amino acid.
-MSG, or glutamate, is an additive used everywhere, not just in whey...

To wrap this up ---> you can't view the world through such a narrow lens, because if you did, absolutely nothing would be safe to eat. Harmful substances are all around us, and additives, supplements, and preservatives are integrated into almost everything we encounter.

The thing is, generations are adapting to all these substances. Sure, they might be somewhat harmful to us right now, but for the people coming after us, it won't be nearly as badโ€”it's just evolution. The real question is how much they actually hurt us versus how much we've already adjusted, though I think they're far less dangerous than how coppersailor57 put it. Plus, what affects one person might not affect another in the same way. ๐Ÿ™‚

For instance, personally, whenever I take Whey or other protein supplements, my digestion goes totally sideways; I get backed up and end up not hitting the bathroom for two days straight.

The real question is how much damage it actually does to us versus how much we've already adjusted. It's probably not as bad as what coppersailor57 made it out to be. Besides, everyone reacts differently, right? ๐Ÿ™‚

For example, Whey and other protein supplements always wreck my digestion. I get constipated and end up not hitting the bathroom for two days.

I have the exact opposite problem. Whey sends me straight to the restroom; sometimes it's basically an emergency situation...

Anyway, about a quick ad...

Basically, MVP just released a massive 10lb tub of Whey.
link
The price is $252, but if we can work out a group deal to bring it under $667, we could grab a 20% discount. That brings it down to roughly $202 for the whole thing. That's a steal. Their Whey is solid tooโ€”good price, great taste, dissolves easily, and has Glutamine and BCAAs added...

Look, it's just high-quality Whey.
It digests so fast that it basically just passes right through you. ๐Ÿ˜

Look, everyone already knows the deal with Aspartame and Sucraloseโ€”they're basically junk.
Honestly, Whey is pretty much useless if you aren't hitting your macros with actual, real food like cheese, eggs, turkey, or chicken.

If youโ€™re constantly dealing with stomach issues or diarrhea, itโ€™s probably because you're overdoing the Whey or overloading on Aspartame.
In my book, the only decent animal-based option out there is the MVP iso logic neutral.
Now I'm thinking about ordering some hemp protein from http://www.marijuanamuscle.com/ just to see if switching to plant-based actually helps my progress. It's a bit of a catch, thoughโ€”it has about 50% less protein than the animal stuff and it costs an arm and a leg.
To top it all off, once it hits US Customs and I deal with the extra taxes, the price is going to jump another 30%. You can't even find the good stuff locally; they just sell that cheap, garbage protein that everyone else seems to swear by.

Now I'm actually thinking about ordering some hemp protein from http://www.marijuanamuscle.com/ just to see if I get better results since it's plant-based. Itโ€™s got about 50% less protein than the animal stuff though, and man, is it pricey.
Plus, once Customs and sales tax hit me, the price is gonna jump another 30%! You can't even find the good stuff here in the States. All they stock are those trash proteins that everyone blindly buys.

Wait, hold up. If Whey is totally useless, why on earth would you drop a ton of cash on plant protein? That sounds totally backwards! You literally just said a few lines ago that eating whole foods is what matters most. Like, seriously, just eat another 200 grams of cheese and you've basically had your scoop of Whey right there.
It's way cheaper that way.

Whatโ€™s the verdict on Myprotein compared to the rest of the pack? Their prices are unbeatable, sure, but howโ€™s the quality actually holding up? I wouldn't even be asking if their website hadn't just crashed on me...

I just hopped onto their site and everything seems totally fine on my end! Honestly, Iโ€™m pretty stoked with Myprotein because you seriously can't beat those prices.

Jonathan James7 said:Regarding the stuff about Aspartame and Sucralose, I suppose it is widely understood that those can be harmful..
I feel like Whey might be somewhat ineffective if one isn't already consuming high-quality proteins like cheese, eggs, turkey, or chicken.

As for those dealing with digestive issues, I suspect it might be due to overconsuming Whey combined with Aspartame.
In my opinion, the only animal-based option worth considering would be the MVP iso logic neutral.
I am currently thinking about ordering some hemp protein from http://www.marijuanamuscle.com/ just to see if I notice any improvement in progress since it is a plant-based source. It does have about 50% less protein than animal sources and tends to be quite pricey.
Plus, with US customs and import taxes, the price will probably jump by another 30%. It is hard to find good options here; most places just sell those low-quality proteins that everyone seems to follow blindly..

Oh, Dildo, you really are a bit lost. ๐Ÿ™„ Of course Whey isn't meant to replace a balanced diet; itโ€™s just a supplement to it. Almost every manufacturer states this on their labels, mostly because they are legally required to do so. I think it might help to look more into how Whey actually functions.

Though, I guess you might be onto something regarding hemp protein. Here is a link if you're interested in reading more: http://www.building-body.com/forum/v...php?f=2&t=1379

Jonathan James7 said:The conversation regarding Aspartame and Sucralose is well-established; their negative impact is common knowledge.
To my mind, Whey is essentially useless if you aren't also prioritizing whole food proteins like cheese, eggs, turkey, or chicken.

Those individuals dealing with digestive issues are likely suffering from an overconsumption of Whey combined with Aspartame.
If we are looking at animal-based options, I believe the only one truly worth considering is the MVP iso logic neutral.
I am currently planning to order some hemp protein from http://www.marijuanamuscle.com/ to see if switching to a plant-based source yields better progress. It does come with the trade-off of having about 50% less protein than animal sources, and it isn't cheap.
Plus, once I factor in the US customs and sales tax, the price will jump by another 30%. You just can't find quality stuff locally; they mostly just stock those low-grade proteins that everyone seems to follow blindly.

Look, man, even if you were on the most intense steroid cycle imaginable, it wouldn't save you here... ๐Ÿ™„ so rather than hunting for a magic formula or a perfect protein powder, you would be much better off focusing on the actual training.
-I think people really need to take a step back and ask themselves what training has become of (for some of you, anyway)... it all seems to boil down to this endless search for magic pills and flawless programs. Everyone is obsessing over every single gram and tracking every tiny metric, effectively turning yourselves into slaves to the commercial fitness industry. In the end, the soul of the movement is lost.
And the worst part is, you probably won't ever hit that elusive "goal," which only leads to deep frustration... all because you spend more time worrying about the details than actually putting in the work.โ˜•

How am I supposed to eat six times a day when they keep me locked up in school like I'm in prison? What am I supposed to doโ€”show up to class with two pounds of fresh cheese and two loaves of bread? Oh, and maybe a fruit yogurt too... every single day? :P

Before school, just see how many eggs you can handle. During your break at school, grab a sandwichโ€”even if itโ€™s not exactly the healthiest option. You'll probably get home around 2 PM and have a solid, substantial meal then. Around 6 PM, maybe have some tuna, leftovers from lunch, or something high-quality so you aren't just eating bread and margarine. For dinner, a light cottage cheese with some sliced peppers works, or if you've got the budget, throw in some almonds. That should be plenty, just keep up with your training...

-I honestly think people need to take a step back and look at what training has turned into lately (not everyone, but some of you)... It feels like everything has become about finding the ultimate hack, the perfect program, or weighing out every single gram. Everything is a math equation now. You've basically become slaves to the supplement industry, and in the process, you're losing the actual joy of lifting.
And the worst part? You probably won't even hit those unrealistic "goals," which just leads to massive frustration... all because you're spending way too much time overthinking and not enough time actually training.โ˜•
