I don't know what to tell you guys. I’ve seen this exact same argument play out on dozens of different forums over the last decade, and it always ends the same way: people get worked up over nothing while ignoring the actual mechanics of the hobby. It’s the same pattern every single time. You see someone post a build, and suddenly half the thread is just people nitpicking minor details that don't even affect performance. I remember back when I first started getting into PC Modding, I spent three weeks obsessing over cable management in a mid-tower case, thinking I was some kind of genius because my wires were straight. Then I looked back at it a month later and realized I had basically choked my airflow just to satisfy an aesthetic preference that nobody actually cares about. It was a waste of time. It seems like we’re heading down that same path here. People are more interested in arguing about whether a specific component looks "right" than actually discussing how it functions within the system. It's exhausting to watch. We should be focusing on the technical side of things instead of turning every discussion into a subjective debate about style. If you want to argue about aesthetics, go to a design forum. If you're here, let's stick to the hardware. kaže:
I was actually thinking about that absolute phenomenon that kicked this whole thread off.
I'm not really sure how to get them to blink. I think I might need to pick up some kind of controller or a dedicated circuit module to make it happen.
Either grab an old programmable controller and solder some neon lights onto it, or just DIY the whole thing.
Honestly, it’d probably be way easier to just head down to a place like Michael's or Hobby Lobby, grab a pack of 200 LED string lights, and just wrap them around everything... the CPU, the GPU... maybe even snake them through the HDD bays.
Haha. 🤣
Honestly, instead of just sticking with standard neon strips, it might actually be a smart move to grab some Christmas lights and really "decorate" the rig. 😁
I saw those three-color neon tubes too—you know, the red, blue, and green ones... I can't quite remember what they went for, though. Those things could probably be set to blink, and the colors were laid out just like the stripes on the American flag.
Then you've also got those LED fan setups. It’s actually a pretty cool effect when you get them spinning; the way the light hits while they're running just looks great.
