My brother and I used to head off to preschool together. Since he was the older one, he was always heading out the door, so he’d just grab me and pull me along with him. For a while, my parents tried to convince us to stay put at home, but they eventually realized it was a losing battle and gave up.

The preschool itself had this incredibly whimsical name: Palm Tree Preschool 🙂

Oh, and regarding those doctors: go ahead and try training for water polo; then you'll see exactly how useful all that physical conditioning can actually be. 🙂

And if anyone happens to be clueless, I’ll make sure to shove it right in their face, alright?😉
Man, this forum has turned into such a tiny small town—honestly, I kind of love it.

NP girls—A Letter for Elise or something like that, can't be bothered to look it up right now.

pet said:Hmm. I think I’m about to drop my list of all-time greatest preschool traumas.

1. When a new teacher showed up suddenly.
2. Someone swiped my toothbrush case—I still remember it because it was the only green one, while everyone else just had plain white ones.
3. Getting sent to the corner because I stood up to some kid who kept stealing my Dragon stickers. Total injustice!
4. That one teacher who always smelled like old sweat.😲
5. My teacher correcting me, saying I had to say "two" instead of how my parents taught me at home.🙂
...I really shouldn't dig any deeper than that.😁

Dead Carrot said:So what, you guys are all whining now because you had to take naps? 🙄 I was literally the only kid in my entire preschool who refused to pass out. Everyone else was out like a light within five minutes, sleeping like they hadn't a care in the world. 👎

We definitely weren't. 😢
We spent the whole time staring at each other, giggling, squirming around, and being little terrors.

The highlights:
1. When Dad would get home from work around noon and we’d head over to Target to play with all those animal figurines.

The absolute worst trauma:
1. One time we were tidying up the room, and I walked over to my perfectly organized little corner and moved a chair just an inch to make it look better. Some little brat started acting up, and then the teacher comes over and grabs me by the ears. Just pulled me right off the floor. 🙂

Oh yeah, beets. 🤮

Right next to my building, there’s this house where a whole bunch of "upstanding citizens" live. On a nice day, you can actually spot them out in the yard playing volleyball. 😁

I guess your folks were just being extra intense about grammar or something when they taught you that?

😬 So, did you have the exact same teacher growing up, and that's why you trust her blindly?😉

Preschool trauma? Zero. I never even went to daycare, and honestly, nobody was really hovering over me much either. If I could get away, I was outside all day, or just messing around with my brothers when they weren't stuck in school. But what sticks in my mind most is just constantly running around town in a place like Annapolis... there was this one road leading into the center where cars were basically non-existent, so it wasn't like we had to worry about getting hit. I knew every single one of the five neighborhood dogs by name, and not one of them ever laid a tooth on me. The absolute worst thing that could happen was tripping over something and scraping myself up—which happened constantly, though I never actually broke anything. Or maybe falling into the ocean... yeah, that happened once too, luckily just before I finally learned how to swim. If I ever end up having kids of my own, I’ll do everything in my power to make sure they grow up somewhere like that. Somewhere peaceful, safe, and beautiful. And ideally, surrounded by the water on all sides.
