Saxophone said:She uses this mnemonic trick—you place your thumb and index finger of your left hand perpendicular to one another, forming an "L" shape from the left side.
That’s helpful, I suppose—but honestly, when things get this massive, needing a memory trick just feels overwhelming!

True—but what am I supposed to do? Am I going to be stuck at every single intersection—say, when someone's trying to navigate me while I'm driving, and they don't realize I need them to actually point *there*—just making an "L" with my left hand? Or should I be doing it while deciding which pen to use, or whatever else comes up? 😬

Was it more like a casserole or a stew? 😈 😈 😈

Forget the casserole.😁

Let me be clear: it was moussaka.

The only thing I actually remember is how they served stuffed cabbage rolls for lunch every single day. I hated them back then, so I’d just stuff a few into my pockets to sneak home, only to flush them down the toilet later.
At home, it was usually meatloaf. Hated that too, so I’d just shove it under the couch.

I got caught red-handed on both fronts pretty fast.

I was a total menace in daycare. I used to tie the little girls to the radiator. It sounds kind of badass now, but at the time, the teachers were freaking out, and even some of the old guys looked worried.

HAHA! 😁

Nothing quite that extreme from me, but I did occasionally scoop salad back into the serving bowl with my bare hands.
And I'd play my toy guitar right when it was nap time.

That seems like a pretty small portion, Bill Gates.

Looks like everyone’s suddenly obsessed with getting jacked—I guess I can't join in, though, being married and all. I'm stuck with those domestic shackles! 😁

quarter to five.

15 mins—that's the first quarter.
30 mins—the second quarter.
45... boom, third quarter!

So how many quarters did we just go through? Three!

Four quarters equals five, so you don't even need to say it.
Two quarters is basically half past four, which also doesn't need saying because half past is shorter anyway...

Logic! 🙏

I mean, seriously, what is this? A quarter is a quarter... it's a fourth part of a whole... it's a fraction... it's a quadrant... it's freaking FOURTHS, people! Use your heads for once...😁

Etymology... it's all connected. From German roots to Latin origins... it basically boils down to "quarter." It’s simple math if you actually think about it. 😁

Well, maybe for some people it is. 😁 😍 🤣

You people are completely irrational. It’s all because of the interference from my mother’s 4:15 PM appointment in downtown Chicago—what does 4:15 even mean in that context?
And that's that!

That's just how it is!

First off, nobody would say "three quarters of an hour before five." No sane person talks like that. They just say 4:45.😁

period.

ah, well... I didn't say women from Chicago weren't smart. exceptions exist, obviously... 😁
it’s just that little distinction... in certain dialects, you don't even need the word "until," it's just implied.

which three Chicago neighborhoods are you talking about? Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, and...?
😕 😁

Once you pass 4:30, it’s strictly "minutes til" everything else goes:
4:35 🙏 — which is what really gets me,
4:40,
or 4:45
and so on... 😁

For the most part, I was basically a social hermit until about 5th grade... 🙄

Ugh, join the club, I’ve got plenty of my own:

- Back in my day, kids (who were clearly little monsters!) had this ritual where they’d gang up on any "new kid" in the group... Well, I spent two months in the hospital once, and when I finally showed up back at school, everyone assumed I was the new kid and absolutely laid into me. 😠 So yeah, you just pick your circle and stick to it... 🙄 (And honestly, after that, my social skills didn't exactly flourish either 😁 )

- We didn't have actual lunches at daycare; instead, we all brought snacks to share—usually stuff like chips, snack cakes, marshmallows, and other junk. We’d pile it all on one big table for everyone to grab from. Predictably, my own treats would vanish instantly, leaving me stuck with whatever garbage was left over... 😳

- There was that one time Mom was running a few minutes late to pick me up, and I was genuinely convinced she’d abandoned me for good. 🙂

- I remember wanting to play with this battery-operated toy car, but the teacher kept snatching it away, insisting it was "for boys." 😠

My camera is busted, so I’ll just have to be your DJ in hell—then you can see who's actually worth listening to and who's just trash.

Preschool memories:
I honestly think it’s embarrassing for any of you to admit you actually slept in that preschool. Personally, I almost never slept... and neither did you guys, nobody really did, except maybe for those girls who lost their hair ties (which was probably the last time they ever had hair, anyway).

Gumbo—I never ate that stuff, and honestly, I haven't even said the word since. I don't want to hear it, let alone see it.

That time that total bully jerk kicked me right in the nuts...

I also remember one single time (and I mean *one* time) where I actually managed to sprint to the local park first. I absolutely crushed all those little bullies. Yeah, I did.👍

Man, preschool... we had this slide right out on the patio... and if you were feeling lucky, they’d give you like half a cup of yogurt with sugar stirred in... my absolute favorite was when the teacher would bring out sliced chicken and serve it straight to our plates... I was always obsessed with getting that crispy skin part... Oh, and I think there was some sun pattern on the bed I slept on as I got older... We were split into three groups—little ones, middle kids, and the big kids... once I moved up to the oldest group, I basically ran the place... I remember this one friend of mine ate a massive pile of gummy candies back when we were in the middle group and got totally sick... fast forward to today, he finished architecture school in New York and all the girls think he's a total catch... Honestly, one of the only two real fights I've ever been in happened back in preschool... looking back, daycare was actually a pretty solid setup

Oh, and about the teachers—we had Miranda, who was a bit chubby but I liked her way more than Halle Berry, who was super high-strung, huge, and had this grating voice. Her son ended up being some local lowlife criminal today
