brightridge19 said:1. Artichokes
2. Some really high-quality sushi

Seriously, artichokes are everything. But I honestly don't get why they cost an arm and a leg at the grocery store, it's just ridiculous...
And when you say "sushi," are we talking about those fancy sit-down spots or can you actually whip it up at home? If it's the second one, please, for the love of god, drop the recipe🙂

Oh, and by the way, since I never bother keeping up with whatever's on TV these days, I only just caught that commercial with you today😬

When you mention "sushi," are you referring strictly to dining out, or do you actually make it at home? If it's the latter, please share a recipe. 🙂

By the way—since I don't bother keeping up with current TV listings—I only just caught your commercial today. 😬

Regarding those artichokes—after my complaining earlier today, Grandma informed me they are currently $5 a piece, and if I want them, I should probably wait until spring... $6.75 🙂

Sushi is actually quite simple to prepare—provided you have the right rice—but one must be meticulous with the ratio of rice vinegar to sugar; more importantly, do not overdo the wasabi unless you fancy an emergency room visit. 🙂 With the right ingredients and a steady hand, it guarantees authentic flavors...

Delicious.

Here. That's me.

I'll have to scour the entire website.

Since you mentioned Isabel 😍 I think I'll go pay her a visit sometime.

Wait, are those actually supposed to be sushi rolls?? 😲 😲
I tried them once. But honestly, I swear there were little bits of hot dogs stuffed inside them 😬

It was at some random Korean culture showcase dinner... they had food and everything. The actual presentation was an absolute train wreck 👎 but we all just went absolutely feral on the buffet afterward to make up for it...

hollowseal33 said:My top 3 Christmas dishes:
1. Pot roast and gnocchi
2. Stuffed cabbage rolls
3. Roasted turkey with homemade noodles

Top 3 foods for Christmas Eve:
1. Stuffed calamari with potatoes
2. Grilled cod
3. Fish soup and mollesho

Top 3 Christmas desserts:
1. Boston cream donuts (always)
2. Old-fashioned sugar cookies
3. Windmill cookies

👍 🙂

If you want my actual opinion—and I mean the *real* list—here are my top 5 foods for Christmas Eve:
1. Honey drizzled over walnuts, apples, and cloves
2. Infused bourbon
3. White kidney bean soup
4. Rice-stuffed carp baked in cream*
5. Guba (that specific poppy seed dough)—honestly, nothing else comes close

And for the main Christmas Day spread, here are my top 5:
1. Honey with walnuts, apple, and cloves
2. Infused bourbon
3. That rich, "golden" chicken consommé
4. Honey-glazed roasted duck or goose served with noodles or bacon dumplings, garnished with dried prunes wrapped in crispy bacon
5. Lamb medallions with a wild mushroom sauce simmered in wine and cream

As for the sweets? My top 5 Christmas treats:
1. Gerbaud (it’s a classic, for heaven's sake, don't be uncultured 😁)
2. Jam-filled crescents dusted with powdered sugar
3. Rum-infused chestnut truffles rolled in cocoa and ground hazelnuts
4. Caramel-nougat slices
5. Filled Linzer

*I will admit, though—if we are being truly traditional—smoked salmon slices with a Norwegian-style dill, honey, and mustard sauce could definitely make the cut...

👍 🙂

Honestly, if you're shopping at Trader Joe's, you're getting the best bang for your buck without having to sacrifice much quality.
You can find them at Billie or the subway stations too... though they'll charge you a premium there. If you head to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, General Mills, or places like that, expect to pay even more.

I feel your pain. Last time I dealt with the flu, a 104° fever absolutely leveled me—along with those agonizing, full-body aches that make even moving a finger feel impossible.👎

No, it’s more that I can't stand those comparisons, like: "It’s not bad for an American movie." It’s either good or it’s bad. Period. It shouldn't matter what country it comes from. Those kinds of excuses just don't hold water. It's as if we lack the imagination or the talent to produce quality cinema—which isn't what I mean by a high budget, by the way—so we just let mediocre stuff slide through because of some misplaced sense of patriotism. ..

Yeah, I’m with you on that—I can't stand it either.
I always make sure to mention that we managed to capture another absolute gem of a blooper reel 😬

- that scene with Grandma 🤣
- "I AM SOOOO READY" 😂
- "I'm gonna mess everything up!!!" 🙂

Cloves?!! I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how that could actually taste good, but I can already tell I won't be able to resist trying such a wild combination.😬
(By the way, I'm with everyone else on the complaints about the design. Even in English.)

I’m telling you, we just filmed another absolute masterpiece of a slapstick comedy. 😬

- the scene with Grandma 🤣
- "I AM SOOOO READY" 😂
- "I'm gonna wreck you all!!!" 🙂

🙏

- old man telling jokes 👋
- getting kicked out of diners
- the whole shower scene

These are subtle dramatic tools used without any overacting. It's a perfect balance of cleansing symbolism against mortality, paired with effortless acting and natural dialogue. This movie forces you to think. It operates on such high levels that you seriously need to watch it another ten times.

Jerry Mitchell62 said:Garlic?!! Honestly, I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how that could possibly work as a combo, but I can already tell I’m going to have a hell of a time resisting such a perverse culinary experiment 😬
(By the way, I am fully siding with all the general complaints regarding the design. Including the English version.)

Since there seems to be some genuine interest here, allow me to clarify the process:
1. Pour some honey into a small bowl.
2. Just before serving—to prevent oxidation—slice an apple, core it, and arrange the slices on a small plate.
3. Prepare a bowl of cleaned walnuts, ideally broken down into halves.
4. Peel a few cloves of garlic and set them alongside the apple slices.
5. Arrange everything on a large, circular platter in the center of the table.
6. Each person at the table takes one walnut, one slice of apple, and one clove of garlic; they cut a bite-sized portion for themselves, spear it with a SHARP-tined fork, and dip it into the central bowl of honey to "coat" the morsel before eating. It’s pure bliss. You can mix them all together (walnut + apple + garlic) or eat them individually or in alternating bites—it is entirely up to your own preference. 😁

👍 🙂

*so the apple doesn't oxidize (turn brown)

The layout of this forum is absolute garbage... if it’s not that, then it’s the fact that my left eye is feeling strained lately—it’s completely killing my motivation to actually read through anything here.
