Check out the blog in my signature about online sportsbooks and how deposits and withdrawals work if you want to dive deeper, peace!

Can someone walk me through this... like, is there any way a minor can actually open an account... maybe if my parents set up a card at a bank for me and then I just take it from there...

Brian Hill said:Bet365 was the first one to drop a World Cup bonus—they’re doing a 100% match up to $100. So if you drop $100, you get another $100 bonus and end up with $200 total. Obviously, if you deposit less, that amount just gets doubled.
Decent site. Odds are alright, though they tend to dip on game day. Might not have as many live betting options or deep markets compared to some other big names, but compared to local brick-and-mortar spots, they’ve got everything DraftKings and BetMGM have...

Watch out for those bonus traps...

Here are the actual terms for cashing this out:

"Users must wager the deposit plus the bonus at least four (4) times at minimum odds of 2.00 (applies to singles and parlays) before being eligible for withdrawal. Users who deposited more than 100 dollars must wager the full 200 dollar amount at least four (4) times before being eligible for withdrawal."

Do I actually need to send over copies of my ID and credit card to Bet365? I feel like I heard one thing from someone, but then I hear something totally different elsewhere... it's confusing as hell.
Does Bet365 require that kind of verification?

I’ve been wondering about something—if I’m looking to set up an account over at DraftKings, am I actually going to need to upload a scan of my ID?

Nah, you don't necessarily have to right away, but you'll definitely need to verify your address and either your card or whatever bank account you're using to fund things. Just... maybe be prepared for the fact that they can ask for a scan of some ID at any time. I wouldn't recommend trying to fake your name, last name, or address—it's just not worth the headache if they catch on.

Look, I’m not trying to be difficult here, I just want my folks back home to stay in the loop, you know?
So, if they tell me I have to verify my address by scanning some ID or whatever, then that's what I'll do, I guess.
But seriously, why can't I just settle the bill directly with my credit card and call it a day?

Usually, you'll get a standard letter sent to your address—it typically takes about 15 to 30 days, but honestly, don't sweat it if it runs a bit late; mine actually took about 35 days to show up. I guess the older folks really know their stuff when it comes to Moneybookers, though. You should try reaching out to them directly... I think you can verify your address by just scanning a utility bill, as long as the bill is actually in your name. They’re usually pretty flexible about this kind of thing, but you definitely have to talk to them first. I actually know a buddy who managed to get through by just scanning his passport, but that took a few days and they kept asking for all sorts of random, annoying stuff

To verify the card, they basically charge a small amount—I think it's up to $2.99 max—and then you just report that exact amount on the site. Just a heads-up, though: don't try to report it immediately. Maybe wait about three days? The amount can sometimes shift on that last decimal point, so you want to be sure. And obviously, you need to have enough cash in the account to cover it. If I were you, I'd probably just make sure your Moneybookers account and your bank account are using the same currency, like either both USD or both Euros

Why on earth wouldn't you just pay with a card?

A little walk over to the betting shop sounds pretty good, especially with some fresh air... might even hop on the computer too 🙂

I mean, you can, but they're super picky about it—probably just because they want to make sure you actually have access to the account the card is tied to. They’re obsessed with making sure nobody is laundering money through them, so they need you to prove it's really you. Once that's cleared, you can just fund the account in like ten seconds... all you really need is the CVC code and some cash in the bank.

Maybe try shooting them an email and see what they say? I'm mostly just going off my own experience and stuff a few friends told me.

Why does everyone bother depositing through PayPal instead of just using their debit card directly?
What’s even the point of using PayPal if you’re just getting hit with a 1.7% fee on there, while the sportsbook is gonna tack on another 2% anyway?

I guess you could use your parent's info—name and everything—to get them to open the card, and then you'd be able to make deposits.

well, I guess one of the biggest reasons is definitely the IRS. under our laws, you aren't supposed to be gambling or playing poker... from within the States on a site that isn't registered here. it might not seem like a huge deal when you're depositing, but if you try to withdraw, things could get messy fast. by using PayPal, the bank sees the money coming from the payment processor rather than some random offshore sportsbook—so if the IRS starts asking questions about where the funds originated, they'd have to go through PayPal first, which—honestly—I'd love to see them try to track down.😁

if they actually manage to prove you were placing bets on an unlicensed foreign site from the US, you could lose your cash plus face some massive fines—and yeah, I don't think anyone wants that.

Do you have any idea what the laws are like over in Canada
If they'll just let me set up a debit card there and call it a day, then fine by me

Can someone help me out with a few things:

1. Can I just use a regular checking account to play online?
2. Does it have to be in dollars, or can I use another currency...
3. What’s the minimum deposit looking like...
4. Since I'm a minor, if I have my own debit card, can I still open an account in my own name...

1. Nah, you'll probably need a foreign currency account for that.
2. It's gotta be dollars or euros—you won't be able to use anything else.
3. Depends on which site you're looking at, but usually it's around $10-$15.
4. No way—even here in the States, minors aren't allowed to gamble, let alone at a legit online sportsbook. You should probably ask a brother, sister, or one of your parents... maybe see if they'll open an account in their name instead.

you won't find any sportsbook out there that lets you place tiny bets... like just a buck or two

It exists on some bets, maybe a few others too—but I think he’s actually asking about the minimum deposit for the sportsbook itself, rather than the limit on an individual bet

So you're telling me I need an account in dollars? That's funny, because I just used my credit card from Chase to toss 50 bucks over at Bet365

I mean, I'm really just wondering what the minimum bet per ticket is... and I have this weird feeling that you could play in dollars over at DraftKings...
