There's this theory floating around that actually makes some sense... Lokomotiva shouldn't be playing in Europe. Why? Because if they do, UEFA might have to step in regarding the relationship between Dinamo Chicago and Lokomotiva—and UEFA's whole thing is staying out of national association business while everyone's still under the same domestic umbrella. But once you hit the European stage, you're stepping outside that local bubble...

Then how did they perform so well in the Europa League the summer before last? It feels like things were just different back then in the American league.

Honestly, nobody was even talking about that back then—plus, there weren't nearly as many complaints coming from the Hajduk Split side (not sure who else, though).
Anyway, nothing is ever straightforward... Zadar takes down Hajduk Split (nothing crazy there), and Istria grabs the win against Lokomotiva. You've got one group fighting for a spot in Europe while the other is just trying to stay afloat. Maglica’s out there basically handing the ball to a Zadar player in a clutch moment. Honestly? I think Hajduk Split is better off staying in the league if Zadar stays up, rather than chasing Europe if it means Zadar goes down. Because let's be real, we're definitely getting knocked out by teams like Zimbru anyway...

Regardless of how things played out, nothing about this feels clean. Zadar ends up beating Hajduk Split—which isn't an impossible outcome—and Istria takes down Lokomotiva. You have one group fighting for a spot in Europe while the other is just fighting to stay in the top flight. Even Maglica seems to be playing a role by feeding the ball to a Zadar player during those moments. Honestly, I think Hajduk Split would be better off missing out on Europe if it meant Zadar stays up, rather than chasing a European spot only to see Zadar get relegated. After all, we’re likely going to get knocked out by teams like Zimbru anyway.

What exactly is the benefit for Hajduk Split in seeing Zadar succeed??

Once you hit the European stage, you're stepping outside that bubble.

I don't buy it, though—we heard these exact same rumors back when Los Angeles FC was playing in the tournament.

Tyler Scott8 said:What exactly does the Atlanta United board gain from helping out Zadar??

Just my two cents here—take it or leave it, I'm definitely not claiming to be an expert.

As everyone knows, there are basically two factions in the MLS right now: the establishment crowd and the anti-establishment rebels.

The Atlanta United management—even if the hardcore supporters (looking at you, Atlanta Ultras) aren't exactly thrilled with how things are run—is trying to fight the main power players by using smaller, secondary allies. They're essentially trying to counter the big league bosses with guys who act as buffers, even if those buffers aren't exactly "clean" characters. In fact, the fans have been screaming for them to just play fair instead of bringing in these shady middlemen who helped get the club to its current state. So, a team like Zadar works perfectly for them because they don't really have any other "allies" left in the league. There's even chatter about bringing back one of the old-school managers to help steer the ship. 🤦
On the flip side, the coach is still in charge, but to me, it seems pretty obvious he'd rather see a team like Istra stay up in the standings. Player swaps with Istra happen constantly—guys like Radonjić, Špehar, Ježina... it's a revolving door. He clearly prefers them over Zadar or maybe even Portland, even though they've collaborated more in the past. Last season, it was blatant how certain teams were being pushed, especially after Portland basically gave him the middle finger by refusing to take some loaned players.
Now the real question is whether another backroom deal is brewing under the table.

Portland has the toughest schedule coming up (away games against Rio and Atlanta), but they're hosting Istra.
Zadar has to go to Pula, and their final match is against Los Angeles.
Istra has three extra points in the bank, but they also have a home game against Dinamo, so watching how the coach handles that will be interesting—if Istra picks up even a single point there, I'd call that a massive value bet.
My gut feeling? I think Istra pulls it off and stays up, though man, this is a tough one to call.
Portland would need to snag at least two wins (against Istra and Slaven) to feel safe, while Zadar—in my opinion—will likely drop points in Pula, and they've got brutal matchups against Rio at home and in Koprivnica. To top it all off, they'll have that showdown with Locomotive in the final round, assuming everything hasn't already been settled by then.

Eric Fox7 said:Talking about those "underdogs"—it might be worth looking at Persepolis; they desperately need this win, and the Uzbek side is basically out of the running already.
@ 1.40 isn't huge, but there might be a connection there somewhere.

Actually, I think it’s even more interesting to try for an exact 1-0 score (or at least a handicap X).

Bunyodkor has gone through four straight 0-1 losses in the Champions League.🙏

18:05 Persepolis-Bunyodkor 1 @ 1.40 (2-1)

We're talking about the Asian Champions League again.
The Iranians are hungry for that second round—the Uzbeks have been knocked out ages ago.
Throw in a massive crowd of at least 100,000 fans in Tehran, and a single goal seems like a pretty solid bet.

Bayern Munich vs. Augsburg 1 1.60 (0-1)

Bayern’s on a three-game skid if you count that cup exit... lost to Leverkusen last week, but they were rotating the squad for the Barcelona matchup anyway. Even though the title is basically in the bag, they need this win to snap the slump and actually build some confidence before facing Barca again. Expect them to come out aggressive at home from the jump—the 1.60 odds are worth the play.

Bayern is on a three-game skid—if you count that cup exit—and honestly, it's getting ugly. Sure, they dropped one to Leverkusen last week, but let’s be real: they were just rotating the squad to prep for Barcelona. Even if the title is basically in the bag, they absolutely have to win this one just to stop the bleeding and get some damn confidence back before facing Barca in the second leg. I'm expecting them to come out swinging at the Allianz Arena right from the whistle. That 1.60 price looks like a solid play to me.

Don't you think they'll just sit their stars and play the benchwarmers? We're talking about a lineup that plays at the level of a bottom-tier MLS side—the kind of group that loses pretty much every single game they step onto the pitch for.

Look, I’d personally lean toward the Over/Under, but I'm not touching anything until I see the actual starting XI. That said—and this is a big "that said"—it's entirely possible they'll go out there and absolutely demolish them just to shake off the funk before the big showdown with Barcelona. Usually, when teams visit the Allianz in the Champions League, they get hammered by more than three goals, but I find it hard to believe Barcelona would suffer a blowout of that magnitude. Still, these guys need to prove something.

FC Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad - Away Team +2 Handicap & Messi scores (1.55) (Score prediction: 2-0 + Messi scores)(DraftKings)

The current iteration of FC Barcelona is simply playing with such overwhelming momentum from one match to the next; they are absolutely crushing everyone in their path and showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. They are a truly magnificent squad, especially with a player as legendary as Messi performing at such a high level...
They haven't conceded a single goal in their last six matches, yet they have managed to find the back of the net 17 times. If this trend doesn't carry over today (Real Sociedad scoring at 2.20), I still firmly believe the away team handicap will hold true. 😉

Benfica vs. Penafiel - Home Win + Lima scores (1.65) (Score prediction: 4-0 + Lima scores)(DraftKings)

Similarly, Benfica recently played a tough game against Porto, and they still maintain a solid three-point lead in the race for the league title. It seems as though Lima or Jonas finds the score sheet almost every single match; however, since Jonas isn't an option in the current betting markets, we really have to put our faith in Lima, because the odds on Jonas at 1.10 are just far too low to be worth anything. 😁

Stuttgart vs. Mainz - Both Teams to Score (1.55) (Score prediction: 2-0) (DraftKings)

My final pick is based strictly on historical data; looking back at the last 15 head-to-head matchups I could find, a staggering 13 of them ended with both sides finding the net.

Best of luck to everyone! 🍿

12:00 Detroit Red Wings vs. Vegas Golden Knights @ 1.55 (1-2)

The Red Wings have basically been stuck in the basement of the league for ages now—just total chaos—while Vegas is doing everything in their power to make sure they don't end up in that same downward spiral.
They’re sitting just one point outside the playoff hunt after that lackluster performance last time, so those three points today are absolutely vital for them.

Detroit is on a brutal ten-game losing streak; honestly, I think their last win was way back in the fall. 🙏
Historically, Vegas has had the upper hand, though they've managed a few draws here and there, but my gut says Vegas settles this one today.
Might be worth looking at the spread—remember, the last time these two met, Vegas pulled off a late comeback. 1/2 @ 30 (DraftKings) (1-1/1-2)

Hey mathematicians and betting enthusiasts, especially those who claim to have "inside info," I’ve got a question. I’m looking at betting on 0-0 scorelines—usually getting decent odds around 7-9. If I picked three matches and hit them all at an average of 8, I’d be looking at a payout of about 512 on a $0.67 stake, which turns $1,000 into... well, a lot. Obviously, finding three perfect 0-0 games isn't easy, so my plan is to pick 20 "solid" candidates and rotate them into different 3-match parlays. Or maybe even 4-match parlays where the return could hit 10 $0.00 on a $0.67 bet. Does this actually make sense mathematically, or am I just chasing ghosts? Has anyone here tried this kind of scoring strategy before?
Also, if you don't know, does anyone have a recommendation for a site where I can post this specific problem?

Kenneth Smith46 said:Listen, I’m looking for some actual math experts and betting enthusiasts here—especially those who actually track their results—because I have a question. I'm thinking about targeting 0-0 scorelines. Usually, the odds are decent, averaging somewhere between 7 and 9. If I were to put together a 3-leg parlay with 0-0 scores, assuming an average odd of 8, we're talking a massive multiplier of 512 on my $0.67 stake—so if I put down $1000, that's a huge payout. Now, finding three matches that all end 0-0 isn't exactly easy, so my plan is to pick about 20 matches that look "solid" and then run combinations of them in 3-leg parlays—or maybe even 4-leg ones, where the payout could hit 10 $0.00 times my $0.67 stake. Does this strategy actually make sense mathematically? And has anyone here actually tried betting like this before?
Also, if nobody here can help, does anyone know a good forum or site where I could post this specific problem?

My cousin bets on everything—usually major tournaments like the World Cup or international handball championships. During the last World Cup, the guy basically hit the jackpot by betting on 0-0 draws. In my experience, those live odds right before kickoff can be even better. These teams play super defensively; they stay focused because nobody wants to concede first, especially in single-elimination formats. It becomes a series of near-misses, but they're really just half-chances. Personally, I haven't had the guts to drop money on stuff like that, but seriously, the guy is sitting on a profit I probably won't see until next year. 🤣

Plus, there's a pattern: the first legs of two-legged knockout series tend to have fewer goals than the return legs. Here's another observation for you:

- Looking at early qualifying rounds for the Champions League (0/12) and Europa League (14/40), both show "both teams to score" happening, but specifically in the first leg. Most games end up being 1-0 or 0-0. My take? It’s the start of the season—teams aren't fully synced yet, physical conditioning is still lagging from preseason, and the pitches are often subpar since you're dealing with lower-tier clubs.

Look, there isn't some massive, deep-seated conspiracy or anything crazy going on here, it’s really just a matter of crunching the numbers, just like you were saying about the math side of things. When you look at the odds for these kinds of parlays, the probability is actually pretty slim—I mean, it's lower than 1 in 512 since that's the multiplier they're giving you, and honestly, that's basically the whole story right there.

What the spreadsheets don't explicitly spell out, or what people don't really wrap their heads around when looking at those little pairs of numbers, is the fact that you effectively have 512 different shots at hitting it, and if you manage to pull it off, you're still walking away in the green—well, roughly speaking, after Uncle Sam takes his cut of the winnings—so yeah, it's totally worth a shot, otherwise it's just a total waste of cash.😁

Monday, May 11th
Kickoff: 8:30 PM
US Second Division

Angers - Sochaux 1 (0-0)

This match wraps up Round 36, leaving just two rounds left in the season. The home side is currently sitting in third place, which happens to be the final promotion spot.
A win here would put them level on points with second-place Ajaccio and create a 5-point cushion over Nancy and Dijon.
I suppose those 3 points would effectively guarantee their promotion to the top tier 99% of the time.
Sochaux is in 10th place, 13 points clear of the relegation zone, so they have nothing to play for.
Looking at what happened with Parma, I guess it can be difficult to beat unmotivated teams that have no stakes in the result but still manage to play well against an opponent that absolutely "has" to win.
That said, I suspect motivation, superior quality, and the home-field advantage will decide things today.
Angers is quite strong at home, holding an 11-4-2 record with a +16 goal differential.

DraftKings: 1.75
bet365: 1.61

Exactly, I agree with you. I've been tracking these results and noticed that in those European qualifiers involving smaller leagues, the teams are uncoordinated and inexperienced. You could probably make a decent move by putting a few bucks on 0:0 at $0.67, maybe even aiming for a ten-bagger if you put down $0.00 (if we're talking about $4 bets, or $3 if $333 is just a rough average)... That's why I brought this up. If anyone else has experience with this, let me know. Is it better to do three bets for $333 or four bets for a 10x return with $0.00? I'd always stick to a $0.67 stake of 😵 😁

Look, let’s not get bogged down in the specific numbers—I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve warned everyone about getting hung up on the amounts.

By the way, trying to call three or four 0-0 scorelines right on the money? That’s basically playing the Powerball at this point.
But if you’re hell-bent on playing it that way, wouldn't it be smarter to aim for a 1-1 draw? It's bound to happen way more often than a scoreless stalemate.🤷

Bayern vs. Barcelona 2 @ 2.80 SS (3-2)

Barcelona is heading into the Allianz Arena with a three-goal cushion. Look, Bayern starts this match staring down a massive deficit. Sure, Porto managed to settle their business, but Barca? They’re playing a completely different game. The Bavarians have to push forward; they can't just sit there waiting for permission. And that's the danger zone. If they overextend, one sharp counterattack from Barca could end this whole thing in a heartbeat.
Bayern has been looking pretty rough lately—bruised and battered, especially with their heavy hitters sidelined. Meanwhile, Barca is firing on all cylinders and hasn't tasted defeat in ages. It’s like comparing a wounded heavyweight to a champion in his prime. Honestly, if Bayern were at full strength today, I wouldn't even dream of this matchup. But given how depleted Bayern is against a relentless Barcelona side? I have to take that 2.80 shot. It’s worth the gamble.

Saturday 13000

Amkar vs Kuban 1 @ 2.30 (1-0)

Man, those guys from Perm have clearly decided they aren't going anywhere—they’re staying in the league for sure! They've been putting up some seriously gritty results lately, right? I mean, look at them: beating CSKA 1-0, taking down Dynamo Moscow 2-0, even if they did get that heartbreaking 1-1 draw against Lokomotiv after conceding in the 90+4th minute... and then that final 1-1 against Krasnodar.

Kuban is sitting pretty in the top tier now, so it's looking super unlikely they'll drop down—if Zenit chokes this weekend, they're basically safe in the bag! Though, let's be real, there's zero chance of them sniffing any European spots this year.
