Eh... I think I'm going to hold off for now—I just don't have the headspace or the time to deal with another surgery. Plus, I probably wouldn't want to deal with the bill again, which is definitely not in my budget right now... 🙂
I'd rather just wait it out for a bit and see if that lump gets more noticeable before I commit to anything. Oh well...

Let me know what the doctor says if you end up giving them a call. 🙂

I get that—I've got zero energy either—but maybe they'd fix it for free 🤷 I was reading this forum where someone mentioned having a bump after surgery, and the specialist told them it could be fixed in ten minutes flat. I honestly won't be able to afford surgery ever again, but this is really starting to worry me... I had a massive lump before that was also a bump that just kept getting worse (probably from a broken nose). 😢

Honestly, I’m kind of dying to know how they can pull that off in just 10 minutes? 🤔
I don't really follow the medical side of things, but my last surgery went on for two whole hours... I'm assuming the procedure is basically the same—they probably have to "open up" the nose again (depending on which technique the surgeon uses, right?) to get rid of this new bump. It’s smaller than before, sure, but it doesn't feel like such a tiny job to me...

Someone who's actually been through this or heard the scoop, please set me straight. 🤷

I’m no expert, obviously—my last surgery took about 2 hours... and if the procedure is basically the same, they still have to "open up" the nose (depending on whatever technique they're using, I guess) to get rid of that new bump. Sure, it might be smaller this time, but that doesn't exactly sound like a five-minute job to me...

Someone who's actually been through this or heard something solid, please set me straight. 🤷

Yeah, mine lasted about two and a half hours, I think. There was this one forum for plastic surgeons where they answer questions, but I can't seem to track it down again. Maybe it's less work because there's nothing else to do besides nipping that bump out and stitching up?🤔 Though, honestly, they didn't do much else to my nose anyway—like, my nasal bridge is exactly the same as before.

There’s some online forum run by plastic surgeons who answer questions, but I can't remember the name... maybe there's less work involved since you don't have to do much besides moving the implant and stitching it up?🤔 Not like they did much else to me anyway; my nasal supports are exactly the same as before.

Two and a half hours? That's a long time... aren't nose jobs usually just an hour or so? Did you go through a General Clinic?

It was definitely closer to two hours, not two and a half. And yeah, it was at a General Clinic.

I don't think there's a strict time limit for the surgery (I mean, it's definitely not gonna drag on for five hours 😬), but honestly, it just depends on how much they have to do. Mine only took about two hours—they used local anesthesia with some extra help—and everything went totally smooth...

And could you actually breathe through your nose after they pulled the tampon out? Mine felt totally blocked. Also, how on earth did you manage those three days with them in? My biggest worry is definitely going to be trying to sleep.

Is that the day of the surgery? If they come out the next morning, does that count as part of the three days, or...?

Why is everyone so obsessed with mouth breathing? 🤔 I mean, how else do you breathe when you've got a nasty cold or the flu and your nose is totally plugged up? If it helps anyone, I slept like a baby 😬, mouth breathing and all—I just kept some ChapStick and water nearby and was totally fine. 🙂

P.S. They took mine out on day 3 (if you count the surgery day as day one, so basically about 48 hours with the packing in there).

Honestly, breathing through your mouth isn't even the main issue here. The real dealbreaker—the one thing that would definitely land you in trouble again—is if you tried pulling that tampon out.

Oh, really? Everything went pretty smoothly for me. Honestly, the most traumatic part was getting the stitches out because it stung just a tiny bit—but even then, it wasn't exactly a nightmare... 🤷

Yeah. I don't think they even pulled my stitches—they just kind of fell out on their own. I can't even remember if there was anything to actually remove. But pulling out the tampon? That is hands down the grossest thing I have ever experienced. It’s not even about the pain, it’s just that sensation... like someone is trying to pull your brain out through your nostrils. Ugh, just... gross. 😱 If I knew I had to deal with that again, I'd probably shop for a few packs of Normabels beforehand just to be safe. 🤣

Hahaha! 🤣

Everything went fine for me, but honestly, looking back now... I don't know if I'd have the guts to go through it all again. :kukavica:
It actually wasn't even that painful—I handled both the surgery and the recovery like a champ... but I just get this feeling that if I had to do it today, I'd be panicking way more. I'd probably be expecting the worst, so it wouldn't just be the money that's an issue, but my head wouldn't be in the right place for another procedure either. 😬

It honestly wasn't painful at all—the surgery and the recovery were actually great... but I get the feeling that if I had to go through it today, I’d be panicking way more. I'd just be waiting for something to go wrong, so it wouldn't just be the money factor—I don't think I'm mentally ready for another surgery. 😬

Yeah, same here. Everything was smooth and painless, and I'd probably do it all over again without a second thought 😁 except for the fact that I'd have to hunt down the nurse around the clinic just to get some pads. 🙂

Hey,
I just got scheduled for nose surgery in about 9 months with Dr. Ožegovica over at the Mayo Clinic.
It’s for a deviated septum and some cosmetic work too.

I was wondering if anyone here has gone through something similar with this doctor. From what I’ve managed to read online, people seem to praise him, but I guess I'm looking for something more personal. If anyone has an actual story or has heard anything firsthand about his work, could you let me know?

Thanks a lot 🙂

Briefly: he's professional, did a solid job on my surgery. I actually had to go to a private specialist recently to fix a turbinate issue, and things are much better now.
Five stars for Ožegovica.

Honestly, who cares about Ožegovica.

I mentioned before that I don't want anyone touching the tip of my nose because I actually like how it looks from the side—I just want the overall profile straightened out. Could you maybe give me a bit more detail about the procedure? Like, how long was the recovery, how long were you stuck in the hospital, stuff like that if you don't mind? Thanks so much. 😁

I stayed in the hospital for five days. Had the procedure on a Monday, and they take pretty good care of you, so it was fine. They took the splints out on Friday, then I was back home.

Was it brutal dealing with those stitches? I mean, how long did it take before you stopped looking like you’d been in a street fight? 😁I’m just hoping I don't look like a wreck for more than two weeks—maybe by then the bruising will have turned that nice shade of yellow.hehe

The real nightmare for me, though, is my phobia of needles—like, actual needles in my veins. I’m not sure how I’m going to pull this off. Every time I have to get blood drawn, I start shaking and getting cold sweats. Now I know they need to insert an IV, and I have no idea how I’m going to handle that. haha
