So, you're saying this one actually beats out the 512 MB version? I'd probably just be running things at a max resolution of 1024x768 anyway, so I guess it's a matter of whether that extra headroom is worth the hassle.

Go with the one that has the faster memory (GDDR5), I guess. Total VRAM capacity isn't really a huge deal, especially at that resolution.

Does anyone actually know anything about these Kepler cards? A quick search led me to this link and a handful of forums where people just seem to argue over everything.

According to this article, the GTX 660—priced at $320—is supposed to perform on par with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580. Did I misinterpret that, or is this information even remotely reliable?

Apologies if this topic has already been covered. This forum is moving so incredibly slow that searching through it feels like a lost cause.

There isn't any official word on this yet—those "leaks" are popping up everywhere, obviously—so you can't exactly bank on them being reliable.

Which one's better?
the HD 6670
or the GT 440
http://www.hwcompare.com/10844/gefor...-6670-oem-1gb/ says the GT 440 performs better at higher resolutions
but Game-Debate claims this HD 6670 is actually 22% faster... now I'm just stuck on which one to grab

Grab the 6670—but only if it has DDR5 memory. Honestly, you might want to look at a 6750 instead; it'll cost you a little more than the 6670, but it's worth it. Whatever you decide to pick, just make sure it has DDR5 RAM.

I'm running an ASUS P8H61 motherboard with a 3.1 GHz
Intel Core i3 2100 processor
and 2 GB of RAM.

The specs say the board has integrated graphics, but since there's a dedicated slot for an external card, I was wondering if I could just pick up a new one? I'm really not happy with how things look on my screen right now.

honestly, just grab a different one lol.....

but it really comes down to what you can afford and what kind of power supply you're rocking...

edit: and seriously, just beef up that RAM. It’s cheap enough, at least get yourself to 4GB.

Hey, can you recommend a couple of options up to $500 $200 that would be compatible with my 🙂
? I'm also planning to pick up another 2 GB

The power supply says 230V... is that enough? Between these two options, which one is the better pick? 🙂

I suspect that comparison site is just feeding us bad data... 🙂
@Bradley Rogers95—since I noticed your other components are newer, I’m assuming your power supply is too—you should be fine picking up that GPU, seeing as it isn't exactly a power hog.
They're essentially the same cards; Bryan Evans77 just used that price aggregator link to find the absolute cheapest option... though, honestly, I think PriceGrabber might actually be more reliable here. 🙂

They are actually the same cards; Bryan Evans77 just used a link from a vendor where it was cheapest... though I think the pricing on Proti is probably more accurate.. 🙂

The specs say DDR5 but my RAM is DDR3... Does that matter? 🙂

Video memory on your GPU isn't the same thing as your system RAM... 👍

p.s. You read the voltage on that power supply, not the wattage...
Everything's running on standard 120V home outlets, so don't sweat it 🙂

Inter-Tech SL-500

* 500 Watt, ATX, passive PFC
* 3x SATA, 2x Molex
* active cooling, 1x 120 mm fan

So, are you guys actually recommending this one? Is there anything better available for under $60 $233? Thanks for the help 😁

I guess this one performs a bit better than the HD 6670... the power supply is total junk, but since this card isn't exactly a power hog, it might just hold up.

Honestly, I’d swap out that power supply immediately... since the thing is basically a junk heap.
