NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 in Los Angeles.

The price is a total rip-off.

Regarding the link for the NVIDIA GeForce GT series, should we expect a massive price drop on the previous generation?
And will there be any lower-end or budget Kepler cards hitting the market?

I've been eyeing a new GPU for a while now with a budget of around $300. Naturally, I want the best bang for my buck, so I was told to hold out for those Kepler cards... but at $600? Forget about it.

Also, is there any word on whether some weaker or cheaper Kepler-based cards will actually hit the market?

I've been eyeing a new GPU for a while now with a budget of about $350—so naturally, I want the absolute best bang for my buck—and people have been telling me to just hold out for those Kepler cards... though if they're asking $700, they can forget about it.

The logic was basically that if you wait for Kepler to arrive, the prices on the older 5xx models should tank, which might give you a chance to snag something decent at a much better price.🙂

The price—absolute robbery.

Over in the United Kingdom, they're looking at $420 and up, so I wouldn't call it a total scam—it’s basically the same price as it is over there.

And are any lower-end/cheaper Kepler cards actually coming out?

I've been planning to grab a GPU for a while now with a budget around $200—so obviously, I want the best bang for my buck—and I was told to just wait for these Kepler cards... but if they're asking $400, they can forget about it.

Well, the 640, 650, and 670 are supposed to drop around April or May, and that 650 should fit right into your budget. Honestly, though? I wouldn't hold my breath for any significant price cuts on the older series this year.

I'm looking at picking up an AMD Radeon HD 6790, but I'm wondering if my current EVGA Power Supply will actually handle it.

My CPU is an Intel Core i5

It's fine 🙂 . If you plan on overclocking, the power supply should hold up since that card pulls about 150W, the CPU is 95W, and if everything else takes maybe 50W, you're sitting at 295W total.🙂

Robert Rodriguez2 said:That should be plenty 🙂. Unless you're planning on heavy overclocking, you'll have more than enough juice. That card pulls about 150W, the CPU is around 95W, and if we budget another 50W for everything else, you're looking at roughly 295W total. 🙂

Thanks for the info. I'm a little confused because the official AMD website claims this card needs a 500W or even a 600W power supply. To make matters worse, I have some buddies who went out and bought massive 1200W units for builds that were almost identical to mine, if not actually weaker.🤷

😂😂

I guess they just threw $1,000 down the drain then. 😬

Well, prices in the United States are $500 or $0.97 so we're right back to being ripped off. 😁

Paul Wright7 said:So, are prices in the US actually around $500? $0.97 Well, here we are back at the old neighborhood hangout again. 😁

In a market economy, if you sell 1,000 cards and make $50 on each, you're looking at a total profit of $50,000. It’s all about playing the numbers. Around here, high-end cards don't move nearly as fast, so most dealers try to squeeze a $150 or $200 margin out of a single premium card instead.
$500 for an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 here in the States? That seems a bit steep to me.

Hey guys,
So, I need a new graphics card because my current one isn't cutting it—at least not for me. I’m looking for something used; cheap but decent, if that's even possible. I found a few options on $100 that seem okay, I guess. Right now, I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce GT series and using a terrible monitor (it's not even LCD, but it works). I play on a small TV too. I'm a big gamer, really into it. Currently, I'm mostly grinding Call of Duty 4 since I run some of my own servers here in the US, but that doesn't matter. I just want to play Call of Duty 4 in full 1920 x 1080 resolution on this monitor. Is there anything better than my current card that's available used? I'm looking at a Dell OptiPlex $83 because my budget is pretty tight.
Other specs:
Intel Core i5
4GB RAM
Gigabyte motherboard; I have to check the specific model on my iPhone 🙂 first. I'll post some links tomorrow for the ones I'm considering and I'd appreciate some help deciding.
Thanks in advance!🙂

I forgot to mention, I'm currently playing Call of Duty 4 at 1920 x 1080, I think, with everything turned off except for textures on high, and I can barely lock 125fps.😬

It’s an older card, but I guess it still puts up some pretty decent numbers. It might actually be a significant jump from your 😉

Can anyone help me out?
I'm thinking about picking up this GPU, but I'm not sure if my current
power supply can actually handle the
specs here:
CPU: intel core 2 duo
RAM: 3GB
Old card: some GeForce 6 series
PSU: a generic 460W unit
