Look, I know I’m being a total pain in the neck, but one more thing—how much extra stuff did you end up paying for after the surgery? I'm guessing they don't just kick you out the door immediately; surely they have some kind of recovery suite where you stay for a day or two? Especially since I'm not from Miami, so I don't really know how things work there...

stormyharbor2 will probably give you a better breakdown of that... she stayed in Miami for her recovery. Just shoot her a PM; she's a sweetheart and will definitely help you out as much as she can.
As for me, I actually crashed at a friend's place nearby... once they pulled the tampons out the next morning, I just headed back to San Diego and made the trip back every couple of days for follow-up appointments.

I'm down, thanks... 🙂
I'm from San Diego too... 🙂 I know this might sound a bit silly, but would you be up for grabbing a coffee sometime? I’d love to just sit down and hear your take on everything firsthand... I've been overthinking this whole move for ages now, but honestly, I keep hearing such conflicting stories from everyone else that my head is spinning... You probably know exactly how I feel, it's likely felt pretty similar for you too...

Hahhahaha, it's a small world! 😁 Maybe we've even met before.
Let's figure out a time via PM...

Let's chat in the PMs...

I'm not originally from San Diego, I'm just here for university, but who knows, maybe our paths really did cross somewhere 😉
think about it and let me know 🙂

Elizabeth Wells10 said:Linda Wilson82, could you please give me a bit more detail about the consultation with Dr. Glusac? I mean, did he suggest a course of action, or did you tell him exactly what you wanted? And did he show you any images other than the ones on his website?
It’s really important to me that my doctor inspires confidence, though I’m not exactly a fan of anyone who brags too much...

The consultation lasted about an hour and a half—give or take—and yes, he suggested what should be done while also asking me what my own preferences were. He showed me quite a few scans from his other patients, and honestly, he definitely inspires trust. As for the bragging part... well, I suppose he did go a little overboard; he spent nearly half an hour talking about himself and his own achievements 🙄 but I guess you could look at it positively—the man clearly has things to be proud of. What I appreciated most was how he gave concrete answers to my questions using layman's terms; he even drew out my various options on a whiteboard. His approach to patients is fairly laid-back... maybe a bit too much, perhaps... but all in all, every doctor has their quirks, right? I think his expertise ultimately outweighs everything else, so we can probably just overlook his little "God complex."🤣

Emily Martinez12 said:So, I sent him an email around 3 AM last night—asking if it was okay to send over some photos so he could tell me what my options are via email, mostly just to avoid having to fly down to Miami—and he gets back to me this morning with: I'm prepping for two nose surgeries right now (one functional, one aesthetic) even though it's Sunday. Send the photos over. ... and so on.
I mean, what is with that opening line? That kind of tone immediately puts me off... is he always like this, or...?

Yeah, he just has to make sure you know how much in demand he is right away.🙄 He told me to give him a call on Friday to set up an appointment. When I actually called him—and mind you, I was calling from the Netherlands because I was on vacation—he just goes, "Eh, I don't know... better just call me on Monday." That's when I started getting a little annoyed, but I kept it together. So, I call him on Monday, and he tells me, "I'm a bit busy, I'll get back to you." After waiting around all day, I finally called him again this morning and just asked, "Is there a problem with me?" and he just starts laughing and making excuses, then tells me he'll operate on me this Thursday or Friday... wtf? I guess he'll probably let me know about two hours before the surgery begins.😠
But, I suppose I should just calm down, try to be patient🙂 and wait, because at the end of the day, I just want to fix this nose, no matter what.🤣

Like I mentioned on the earlier pages... I really don't want a hooked nose. I just don't think it would suit me... and I notice that Dr. Glusac mostly performs those kinds of procedures... so I'm wondering what you think... do you believe he'd actually respect my request for a straighter profile, or would he try to mold it more according to his own vision? I don't know... maybe the man just hasn't had much practice with straight noses, which is why he keeps doing the same thing over and over...

I mean, I’ve actually seen two of his perfectly straight noses because of the girls here on the forum. He even asked me if he could perform the procedure on my nose since he thought it would suit me... and well, I agreed.
Sending photos now...

rustygardener172, I assume everyone has probably driven you crazy asking for photos, but please—could I get one too???!!!! I can see how happy you are, and that really gives me some courage since I'm headed into surgery in just two or three days.

From what I can see, Dr. Glusac mostly does those types of nose jobs... so I'm wondering what you think. Do you think he’d actually respect my request for a flatter profile, or would he end up doing it more his way? I don't know, maybe he just doesn't have much experience with straight noses, which might be why he sticks to the same look...

I honestly think he would definitely honor your request. Even I told him I didn't want a hooked nose, and his reaction was completely normal... he really does respect what the patient wants. Maybe seeing how my nose looks a few days after my surgery will help you make your decision. I'm feeling quite optimistic about this whole thing, and given my luck... well, I won't go into that.😂

So, when is your surgery scheduled? This Friday?
I'll be crossing my fingers for you and I honestly can't wait to hear how everything goes!

I didn't really get the vibe that people prefer those upturned noses—well, except for what I saw on Princess Ma. 🤷

The comments about Glusac are honestly killing me. rustygardener172 🤣 Look, he's just built that way—kind of like he's got Asperger, totally hyper-focused on his work and charismatic, sure, but his social skills? Definitely his weak point. I'm the same way, so it never bothered me... 😛

I really don't get it—why everyone is so obsessed with pushing Glusac so hard... and what's the deal with Dzepina, Toncic, and Bastaic?

I really wanted to take a moment here to give a massive shout-out to Dr. Glumičić and his entire staff. I honestly can't thank them enough for the absolutely stunning nose they gave me. He is incredibly professional, highly skilled, and just a genuinely pleasant person to be around.
Unfortunately, this was actually my second attempt at this whole process.

My first experience was actually at the Edumed clinic working with Prof. Stanec, and frankly, I was left feeling pretty disappointed. Here’s the breakdown:
- Most importantly—and this is the big one—he didn't actually get my nose right, which is exactly why I had to go back for a second surgery.
- It was way overpriced.
- They had me getting lung X-rays and breathing tests, yet he didn't even bother to look at the results.
- On top of all that, I ended up having to pay extra for follow-up appointments after the surgery.
- To make matters worse, he tried to convince me that "time" would fix everything—telling me I was just swollen and that things would settle down naturally... blah, blah, blah... until he finally admitted he wasn't happy with the result either and suggested we might need to redo the whole thing.

My gut told me to find somewhere else, and looking back, I am so glad I listened.
Even during that very first consultation with Prof. Stanec, he didn't leave a great impression on me, but unfortunately, I ignored my intuition at the time.

If I can offer any advice: that initial consultation is everything. You absolutely have to have complete faith in the surgeon who is going to be performing your procedure.

To add onto what Stanec said:
- I’m really not thrilled that he wasn't there when they were removing the mold from my nose—honestly, I feel like a doctor ought to be present to confirm, right alongside the patient, whether the surgery was actually a success or a total bust.

.....oh, and by the way, during my last pre-op checkup, both the internist and the radiologist were looking at me like I had two heads, wondering why on earth I needed a chest X-ray just for local anesthesia.

Donna Watson80 said:Let me know how everything went on your end. I’m actually planning to head in soon myself to get my deviated septum and sinus issues sorted out. 😕

It just occurred to me that I haven't posted here in quite a while. 😁 I was actually supposed to undergo surgery, but when I followed up with the specialist the day after, all I walked away with was a prescription for antibiotics and two nasal sprays. Honestly, I can't help but feel like they completely misread the situation. The issue is that I’m still dealing with heavy nosebleeds two or three times every single day. It seems like everything hit the fan at once—I caught a cold right when my sinus polyps were acting up, which likely triggered this whole mess. To be fair, the polyps themselves seem under control now; my sinuses feel clear and breathing is back to normal, but the bleeding hasn't let up one bit. It's like fixing the plumbing while the faucet is still spraying everywhere. Because the initial treatment didn't address the root cause, I’m heading back to the specialist tomorrow. It looks like we’ll be moving toward a minor surgical procedure—something like cauterizing the vessels in my nose to finally put an end to these bleeds. Hopefully, this does the trick.

Well, it's finally done.🙂
Right now everything is just super swollen—purple eyelids and all that—BUT it looks like she actually pulled it off. Now I just have to be patient for 2 or 3 weeks to let the swelling go down so we can see the final result.

The main thing is that you're still kicking😉 I'm crossing my fingers that the nose turns out absolutely gorgeous once the swelling clears up 👍
