I honestly can't believe if they think this is how you run things—instead of actually announcing the lineup for the festival, they’re just booking them for a standalone show. They've got Skunk Anansie lined up. It's just pure amateur hour at this point.

I'm honestly pretty stoked about Skunk. I really should have made it out last year, but I ended up getting sick right before the show, so maybe this timing is actually better.😁

Man, it’s honestly frustrating when I think back to them trying to pull in acts like Arctic Monkeys, Manu Chao, or Skunk Anansie... they clearly put in the work to organize everything, but just couldn't lock those bookings down for the festival. I don't know. It feels like these organizers have such massive egos; instead of just admitting, "Hey, Skunk is busy that weekend, let's just take that budget and hire a truly powerhouse band that actually fits the dates," they struggle.

(Don't get me wrong, this news hits me even harder than the rest of the festival lineup, and I am genuinely stoked they're coming. I'll definitely be there!)

It's even more obvious when you look at that huge gap they have around the 21st and 22nd. Epic fail.

Morgan Palmer2 said:Damned megalomaniacs. Instead of just saying, "Hey, Skunk is booked for the festival, let's just spend the cash on an actually killer band that can play that date," they act like this.

Probably just broke. They're likely running these smaller, sold-out shows just to scrape together some extra cash for the festival.

But Kasabian was just so damn free during Coachella. And it wasn't just them either.

Coachella crowd, seriously, what the hell is your problem with people from out of town? 😢

I think I'll just head over to the exit instead 🙂

but then again, there's Arcade Fire 🤔 I wonder how much a single-day pass costs?

🙏

Now, I find myself getting incredibly excited once again about one of the smaller bands on the lineup!

Goribor.

It’s just pure incompetence—organizers clearly have no clue how to book a massive headliner, so they settle for local acts instead. Honestly, I hope Live Nation pulls the plug next year, or maybe even this one.

But why? What’s wrong with America having two massive festivals—one on the coast and one in the capital?

It strikes me as funny how Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival just can't seem to balance their headliners with the rest of the lineup. It’s always either heavy hitters followed by absolute filler, or vice versa.
Just wait until they start announcing the contest winners. Last year, there were more than ever. Who knows what we're in for this time around. 🙄

☕I've been looking things over, and here is my take... we're likely still waiting on announcements for two more acts on the Lollapalooza Stage (including one headliner), two more for the Multicultural Stage (another headliner, though I wouldn't hold my breath...), about 7 or 8 contest winners, 4 guest acts plus 4 local DJs/sound systems for INbass and the Absolut Party Stage, and I suppose it’s worth mentioning the Silent Disco DJs.

So, that's pretty much all there is to Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. I don't expect any more big surprises unless they suddenly announce a third day that makes no sense without a top-tier headliner to anchor it.

I honestly think they’re sabotaging their own lineup just to alienate the crowd. Maybe if they tank the attendance, they’ll finally be forced to book actual headliners. Don't try telling me they're broke—we all know how shady these promoters can be 🙂
. Sure, they might not have the budget for AC/DC or Metallica, but failing to take a gamble on bands like System of a Down or Fightstar? That’s just bad business, in my opinion.

It’s not even that they lack the funds; it’s more like they’re just incapable of actually landing the talent. It feels like they overthink the math so much that they end up tripping at the finish line. I don't know, the lineups always seem a bit odd to me, but I usually find those two or three big names worth the ticket price—assuming they don't completely botch the scheduling, which, let's be honest, has happened before.
I honestly can't wrap my head around why Savage wasn't booked for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. If they're willing to play at Aquarius, what was the hold-up for the main fest? My guess is they were already locked in for those dates, so maybe the organizers just didn't reach out early enough...
As for M. Chao, I get the logic there—the guy wanted to stick to the smaller venues—but this? Man, what a mess!

I’ve been quiet for a while, but I can’t stay silent anymore...

Look, guys, please stop trying to compare Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to Coachella... it just doesn't make sense.

Both festivals have their own vibe, and they're totally different in terms of concept and lineups. They both offer enough variety to hit whatever mood you're in...

I’m sure you don't literally mean they'll "destroy" one another, but saying stuff like that sounds pretty harsh, and honestly, none of us feel that way—it's actually the opposite...

I don't get where all this negativity toward Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is coming from. For a relatively small amount of money, you get to see a ton of incredible bands that would easily cost you at least $50 a ticket if you caught them on their own tours anywhere in the States. If you're into Arcade Fire and Grinderman but can't stand Jamiroquai or Cypress Hill, just skip those sets. I really don't see what the big deal is.🤷

The only similarities are the technical glitches and the sheer pretentiousness
hm
kind of a reach

obviously there’s zero overlap between these two festivals
though I’d love to see Grinderman play Coachella.
man, that would be insane
if they weren't like 7 times more expensive than any band playing there
haha
whatever

Look, folks, please stop trying to compare the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to Terra Luna. It just doesn't make sense...

Both festivals have their own unique identity. They are completely different when you look at the concepts and the lineups, which means they both cater to different tastes and interests...

I assume you don't mean it literally when you say one will "completely destroy" the other, but even so, it sounds pretty harsh and none of us really talk like that—it’s actually quite the opposite...

I honestly don't get where all this negativity toward Coachella is coming from. You get to see a massive lineup of incredible bands for a relatively small amount of money—bands where you'd easily pay at least $45 just to see them play a solo show anywhere else in the States. If you love Arcade Fire and Grinderman but can't stand Jamiroquai or Cypress Hill, then just skip those sets. I truly don't see what the big deal is. 🤷

Look, please—just stop drawing comparisons between the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Terraneo. It’s pointless...

Both festivals have their own identity; they are distinct enough in both concept and lineup to cater to different tastes and interests...

I assume nobody actually means "completely destroyed" when talking about these two festivals—though even if you do, it sounds terrible and isn't how any of us would put it—quite the opposite, actually...

I don't know where all this negativity toward Inmusic comes from, considering you get to see a string of incredible bands for relatively little money—bands for which you'd easily pay at least $45 for a standalone show anywhere else in the States... if you're into Arcade Fire or Grinderman but can't stand Jamiroquai or Cypress Hill, just skip the latter... I honestly don't see the issue. 🤷

Look, I didn't mean they were literally being destroyed—as in going bankrupt—but they definitely need to pull themselves together. It's true we can see some great acts for cheap, but it's frustrating that they won't take any risks; if they had to bump ticket prices up to $50 or $33, it might be worth it just to land System of a Down, FF, or other major headliners

Man, they better hike up the prices for something like System of a Down, then maybe they'll actually notice I exist. 😁

It’s true we can catch some solid bands for cheap right now, but it bugs me how they won't take any risks. Honestly, if they have to bump ticket prices by $50$33 just to land System of a Down, FF, or other heavy hitters
, I say go for it.

The thing is, those massive headliners cost so much that it isn't even about "taking a risk" anymore. It’s more about whether you want the festival to turn into one big concert for a single band plus some cheap filler, or if you want a lineup that actually feels like a cohesive, well-thought-out event...

Personally, I think the second option is way better and smarter for the long haul. Eventually, American festivals will probably get to the point where paying $500k for a headliner is totally normal, but for now, everyone should just be happy we even have this chance. Like I said, seeing great bands for relatively little cash is a win...

Even five years ago, you would've had to pay way more for something like this, not to mention the extra cash for travel and hotels in some huge European city... so yeah, just be patient. Things will balance out eventually. Honestly, things are already way, way better than they were 5 or 10 years ago. 🙂
