Wait, is "Friends" actually hitting theaters in 2011?

So, get this—word on the street is that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer might all be stepping back into their iconic roles from the hit sitcom "Friends," according to The New York Times.

Can you even imagine? Apparently, the famous six have already inked deals for a "Friends" movie, following right in the footsteps of the cast from "Sex and the City." Even Michael Tyler, who played Ghunter, is reportedly on board to make an appearance on the big screen too!

And wouldn't it be perfect if the original creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman, handled the script and production? If everything goes according to plan, we could be seeing this in theaters by summer 2011.

Total waste of a movie. But hey, they cashed the check anyway.

I’ve got a bad feeling this is gonna be one massive fail. Fingers crossed it doesn't, and maybe ends up being half as good as the series was.

I don't have particularly high expectations; I'm just looking for a decent movie...

I’ve watched this series countless times, from the very first episode to the last. I actually own the entire collection at home.
A movie just can't replicate a series because you're forced to cram in way too many jokes and sketches in just twenty minutes. It’s impossible to maintain that kind of pacing in a film. Still, I'm happy to hear they might reunite, assuming it actually happens—I hear there's always some pushback from one or two of them.

Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time before the trash from small screens finally graduated to big-screen garbage—just more mindless drivel designed for teenagers.

Personally, I consider this to be my absolute favorite comedy series, though I truly don't think there was any real need to turn it into a movie...👎

If a movie like Sex and the City actually managed to pull numbers—even though if you ask me, that whole thing was total garbage and I couldn't even bring myself to sit through the film—then I honestly think Friends, which was a genuinely brilliant series, will 😁

I’m calling it now: this movie is going to be huge. The series was incredible—easily one of the best things I've ever watched—so I’m banking on the same energy for the film. Honestly, I just can't wait to see the old gang back together on screen. My expectations are sky-high. Summer 2011 is looking like a win if we're heading to the theater for a massive dose of laughter with Friends!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Friends. Even now, if I can catch a rerun, I’ll sit through it... I actually own every single season on disc and I've definitely lost count of how many times I've watched them. Still, though, I can't help but feel like the movie was entirely unnecessary ☕. As for Sex and the City, I never actually sat down for the film, and the series itself? I tried a few episodes once, but it just never really clicked for me
. But look, if they decide to make another movie, you can bet I'll be there watching 😍

I didn't really bother with the Joey series. A dear friend actually told me not to ruin my memories of Joey from Friends...

I haven't seen anything with Ross or Phoebe either. Apparently, there was supposed to be a show for her, but it was a total flop...

Cox built a career? Everything seemed to spiral after Scream. As for Aniston, we all know exactly who helped her build that "career." Looking back at where things stood about 10 or 12 years ago, Perry arguably had the strongest position, but he just didn't utilize his talent the way he should have. He did have his comedic projects and guest appearances on shows like The West Wing and Ally McBeal. He could have transitioned into a film career alongside his TV work, which he started to do, but well—it’s hard to argue with what happened once addiction and rehab entered the picture... 😛

The show is one of my favorites—it was truly excellent during those first few seasons. I'm hoping the movie is at least half as good; maybe it might actually surprise me in a pleasant way.

And I'm really hoping for some of that old Chandler sarcasm from the early seasons. 😬😍

It’s actually because of projects like this that I’ve been diving deep into those massive Hollywood classics from the 30s, 40s, and 50s... just trying to find some substance.
If there is one thing I absolutely cannot stand, it's when a production insults the audience's intelligence, and honestly, making a movie based on Friends is nothing short of that.
I have zero tolerance for that kind of (un)inspired work.

I think Lisa Kudrow had a really great show called "The Comeback"—it only lasted one season (or something like that), I guess

Doesn't matter what shows they are, one became a massive hit in America and the other is supposedly huge, so if you ask me, she's actually ahead of Aniston now... 🤷

This is honestly terrible. They’re already trying to mess with a series that didn't even need a final season, let alone a movie.👎

I love Friends, but this is probably going to be a total violation of the series. 🤷
